Submarine Pipeline Routing Risk Quantitative Analysis

A new method for submarine pipeline routing risk quantitative analysis was provided, and the study was developed from qualitative analysis to quantitative analysis. The characteristics of the potential risk of the submarine pipeline system were considered, and grey-mode identification theory was used. The study process was composed of three parts: establishing the indexes system of routing risk quantitative analysis, establishing the model of grey-mode identification for routing risk quantitative analysis, and establishing the standard of mode identification result. It is shown that this model can directly and concisely reflect the hazard degree of the routing through computing example, and prepares the routing selection for the future.

Acoustic design sensitivity analysis of structural sound radiation

Axial compression behavior and analytical method of L-shaped column composed of concrete-filled square steel tubes

Based on the characteristics of an L-shaped column composed of concrete-filled square steel tubes, the axial compression experiment and nonlinear finite element analysis were carried out to study the mechanical property of the L-shaped column. The load-displacement curve for the L-shaped column, the deflection and load-strain curves for the mono columns were obtained by the axial compression experiment. The results show that the L-shaped column exhibits a flexural-torsional buckling failure mode. The numerical simulation by the finite element analysis shows that the bearing capacity and failure mode are in accordance with those of the axial compression experiment and the feasi- bility of the finite element analysis is proved. For the calculation of the bearing capacity of the L-shaped column com- posed of concrete-filled square steel tubes, an analytical method is proposed based on the theory of the elastic stability and spatial truss model. The results of the analytical method are in good agreement with those of the axial compression experiment and the finite element analysis.     

Calculations of plastic collapse load of pressure vessel using FEA

This paper proposes a theoretical method using finite element analysis （FEA） to calculate the plastic collapse loads of pressure vessels under internal pressure, and compares the analytical methods according to three criteria stated in the ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code. First, a finite element technique using the arc-length algorithm and the restart analysis is developed to conduct the plastic collapse analysis of vessels, which includes the material and geometry non-linear properties of vessels. Second, as the mechanical properties of vessels are assumed to be elastic-perfectly plastic, the limit load analysis is performed by employing the Newton-Raphson algorithm, while the limit pressure of vessels is obtained by the twice-elastic-slope method and the tangent intersection method respectively to avoid excessive deformation. Finally, the elastic stress analysis under working pressure is conducted and the stress strength of vessels is checked by sorting the stress results. The results are compared with those obtained by experiments and other existing models. This work provides a reference for the selection of the failure criteria and the calculation of the plastic collapse load.     

Simulation and Analysis of Dynamic Characteristics of3D Assembly Circuit Module with Finite Element Method

Based on the modal analysis theory and by using the dynamics finite element analysis model of a three-dimensional assembly circuit module, dynamic characteristics of circuit module have been studied, including both natural characteristics analysis and dynamic responses analysis. Using a subspace method, modal analysis is first carried out. The first 6 orders of natural frequencies and vibration modes are obtained. Influence of the number of the Z-shaped metal slices on dynamic characteristics of the entire structure is also studied.Harmonic response analysis is then conducted. The steady-state response when the circuit module is subjected to harmonic excitation is determined. A curve of the response values against frequencies is obtained. As a result, the optimal number of Z-shaped metal slices can be determined, and it can be assured that the three-dimensional assembly circuit module has good performance in terms of the dynamic characteristics.     

Multivariate statistical analysis for the surface water quality of the Luan River, China

In order to analyze the characteristics of surface water resource quality for the reconstruction of old water treatment plant, multivariate statistical techniques such as cluster analysis and factor analysis were applied to the data of Yuqiao Reservoir-- surface water resource of the Luan River, China. The results of cluster analysis demonstrate that the months of one year were divided into 3 groups and the characteristic of clusters was agreed with the seasonal characteristics in North China. Three factors were derived from the complicated set using factor analysis. Factor 1 included turbidity and chlorophyll, which seemed to be related to the anthropogenic activities; factor 2 included alkaline and hardness, which were related to the natural characteristic of surface water; and factor 3 included Cl and NO2-N affected by mineral and agricultural activities. The sinusoidal shape of the score plots of the three factors shows that the temporal variations caused by natural and human factors are linked to seasonality.

It analyses an excerpt from the post-modern novel Slaughterhouse-Five from the perspective of systemic functional linguistics.Through transitivity analysis and cohesion analysis,it finds that the novelist Kurt Vonnegut uses passive voice and the image of the moon to enhance the passivity and insanity of the anti-hero Bill Pilgrim respectively.Moreover,the fact that there is only one conjunction helps to form the feature of fragmentedness of the postmodern novel.

The Application of Cohesion in English Reading and Writing Instruction——Based on Diagnosis and Instruction Experiment

Based on Halliday and Hasan’s taxonomy of cohesive devices,the author investigates the deficiency of cohesive awareness of subjects through the analysis of questionnaires,interviews and problems existed in writing samples,and then the efficiency of applying cohesion theory to English teaching is examined through the data analysis of the results of the pre-test and post-test by SPSS Statistics 17.0.At last,the author draws the conclusion that applying cohesion theory to English teaching can,to a great extent,foster students’awareness of textual cohesion,develop their writing strategies,and improve their abilities of reading comprehension.

Methods for progressive collapse analysis of building structures under blast and impact loads

Progressive collapse of building structures under blast and impact loads has attracted great attention all over the world. Progressive collapse analysis is essential for an economic and safe design of building structures against progressive collapse to blast and impact loads. Because of the catastrophic nature of progressive collapse and the potentially high cost of constructing or retrofitting buildings to resist it, it is imperative that the progressive collapse analysis methods be reliable. For engineers; their methodology to carry out progressive collapse evaluation need not only be accurate and concise, but also be easily used and works fast. Thus, many researchers have been spending lots of effort in developing reliable, efficient and straightforward progressive collapse analysis methods recently. In the present paper, current progressive collapse analysis methods available in the literature are reviewed. Their suitability, applicability and reliability are discussed. Our recent proposed new method for progressive collapse analysis of reinforced concrete frames under blast loads is also introduced.

Designing an EGP+ESP merging Curriculum for Technical Vocational College Students

Critical Discourse Analysis has increasingly drawn the attention of scholars as a new perspective of discourse analysis.By studying the linguistic features and structures,it can analyze the relation between discourse,power and ideology.In this paper we analyze news re ports of foreign affairs,which draw little attention in previous studies.We make a critical analysis of the 10 news reports on the 3rd US-China strategic and Economic Dialogue in American and in Chinese news media.The analysis will be conducted from 2 categories:modal auxiliary and lexical repetition.
