This article reports the results of a survey conducted in the fall of 1997. The purpose of this study was to survey the extant policies in civics and values education across the 50 United States. The survey addressed three areas concerning civics and values education: curriculum, textbook selection, and teacher licensure. The findings were: One, most states mandate or suggest civics education curriculum and policies while many fewer states have curriculum and policies addressing values education. Two, many states have teacher licensure requirements for civics instruction at the secondary level; however, no teacher licensure policies exist with respect to the instruction of values. Three, states are almost equally divided between the state‐adoption and local‐control methods of textbook adoption. The authors discuss six important trends and issues that emerge from this survey. 相似文献

The Education and Communication for Sustainability in Africa (ECoSA) survey set out to provide an overall picture of environmental education provision in Africa in order to identify areas where European Union support could best assist the environmental education process. The survey gathered information through questionnaires, semi‐structured interviews at grass rodts level, country visits and a consultative workshop. A principal product of the survey was a databank with over 300 African organisations involved in environmental education. The Final Report reviews environmental education provision in different sectors as well as suggesting a number of guiding principles and proposing priority areas for European assistance. 相似文献

Continuing professional education has become increasingly important over the past several years. Recognizing that school psychologists need to update skills on a regular basis, professional organizations in school psychology have developed programs for continuing education. While the interest to participate in such programs seems high, possible conflicts with the requirements of state departments of education may prevent such programs from achieving their potential for success. A survey was conducted to determine present standards for continuing education of school psychologists among state departments of education. The results of this survey are discussed and recommendations are offered to local and state school psychology organizations. 相似文献

There is a great need in many countries for extended and new teacher competence to meet the challenges of inclusive education. This paper presents a national programme for developing new teacher competence in secondary schools in Norway. The programme was developed and implemented during the 1990s, its aim being to start a continuing process in schools directed at promoting inclusive education and improving the quality of education for pupils with special educational needs. Further, the paper presents some findings from a national survey of 2240 teachers and school administrators in 104 schools one year after the implementation of the programme. The survey partially replicated a survey carried out before the programme started. The purpose was to give an overall picture of the situation with respect to teacher competence in special needs and inclusive education, and the impact of the competence building programme on teacher practice, and to identify possible system changes in schools. 相似文献

Predictions and preferences for teacher education in Australia in the year 2000 were identified by surveying teacher educators. The survey was undertaken in 1991, soon after dissolution of the binary system in Australian higher education and at a time of increasing government concern about teacher education. Respondents commented on the future research and teaching missions of teacher educators, the representation and status of teacher education within Australian universities, and relationships between teacher educators, schools and government. Forecasts concerning teacher education in the year 2000 were generally pessimistic, and they conveyed the sense that the training of teachers will be governed by an agenda over which teacher educators have limited direct control. The results of the survey are discussed with reference to the impact that recent changes in the Australian higher education system have had on teacher educators. 相似文献

"我国高等工程继续教育体系架构研究"课题研究,对我国高等工程继续教育现状进行了调查。调查发现,目前各种教育机构开展工程继续教育相对比较独立和封闭,按个体利益需求发展,其教育产品带有挤占性和缺失性,其教育缺乏统一的认定标准。企业和市场的人才需求不能得到满足,导致当前我国劳动力市场上人才结构性失衡现象十分严重。因此,通过对工程继续教育教学方法、技术手段的规律探索,基于终身教育理论,从工程技术人员职业发展、企业发展培训体系、师资队伍建设、教学资源建设、教学方法运用和教育技术手段等方面,探索高等工程继续教育教学方法、技术手段的实现,架构其教学模式。研究表明,我国工程继续教育教学方法与技术手段呈多样化发展态势,信息技术教学手段在我国工程继续教育中的作用愈加重要。 相似文献

As a preparer of students for the profession of teaching, a college, school, or department of education in higher education
has an expectation that instructors teach competently. In higher education, the student survey of instruction is one of the
most important among other indicators of teaching effectiveness. This article presents a validation of a new student survey
of instruction in a college of education. In this validation, we found the new survey to be as troublesome as the previous
survey. Four major findings emerged from this study that offer hope for a new and improved survey of instructional effectiveness.
These findings involve estimating reliability, subscore validity, course relevance and rigor of the instructor, and construct-irrelevant
variables that threaten validity. Given the failed validation, many cogent observations provide guidance for the design and
development of improved forms that may overcome these threats to validity and guide others in validating teaching effectiveness

This paper examines perceptions of roles and responsibilities in primary and secondary initial teacher education following a sustained period of increase in the involvement of schools. The paper reports findings from a survey of higher education staff, school-based mentors and student teachers, which sought information about their perceptions of roles and responsibilities. A postal survey was followed up by telephone interviews. We found broad levels of agreement between all three partners in the training process and across primary and secondary phases. We found no evidence of a wish on the part of schools to assume greater responsibility for training student teachers. All three parties involved in the survey were able to articulate clearly areas of student professional development where they see complementary roles for school and higher education. 相似文献

Abstract Teacher and principal surveys are among the most common data collection techniques employed in education research. Yet there is remarkably little research on survey methods in education, or about the most cost-effective way to raise response rates among teachers and principals. In an effort to explore various methods for increasing survey response rates, we randomly assigned 1,177 high school principals in the state of Michigan to 1 of 4 experimental conditions. We varied the mode of survey delivery, the mode in which the prenotification letter was sent, and whether or not a $10 incentive was provided. The results indicate that providing a monetary incentive substantially increased response rates over the no incentive condition and that principals were more likely to respond to a paper-based survey than a web-based one. 相似文献

为了解宁德师院在校生的性健康教育现状,采用整群抽样的方法,对500名在校生进行问卷调查,为建立针对性和实效性的高校性健康教育模式和开展性健康教育干预措施提供理论依据.调查显示,72.2%学生未修过性健康教育课程;80.7%以上学生觉得自己对性知识了解程度不足,性知识主要来源于互联网和报刊杂志;80%以上学生认为课堂讲授、观看教学录像是获得性健康知识的最佳形式;98%学生要求开设性教育课程且希望开设心理咨询中心.学生对在校期间谈恋爱及婚前性行为多持"接受"态度.结果表明,师院在校生的贞操观相对淡薄,性观念较为开放,而性知识匮乏,并且获取性知识的途径不佳.为了学生的身心健康,建议普及性健康教育课程,家庭、学校、社会多方配合,以纯洁教育为主旨辅以安全教育. 相似文献

教师作为教学活动的执行者,在教育信息化实践中起到最为直接的作用.本研究试图从一线教师的经验来考察基础教育信息化的现状,通过审视近五年教师认知技能和观念的变化来为教学实践和师资培训提供最新的决策信息.作者调查了433名小学教师技术使用的技能、态度和再学刊途径.数据显示,相比5年前,教师的技术使用水平有大幅提高;多数教师对技术应用持积极态度,并愿意开展更多的技术整合活动和参加更多的相关培训.对多数被调查教师而言,困扰他们的主要不是硬件设备的缺乏,而是相关软件和应用的缺乏.在新技术应用上,数据显示出教师支持"教"的实践较多,而支持学生"学"的实践较少.教师很大程度上把教育技术能力等同于技术操作、课常演示和课件制作水平.作者建议师资培训应从技术操作层面的训练转向教学法、教学内容和技术结合的设计训练,以此来提高技术整合活动的效果. 相似文献

该研究的调查对象是全国13个省市40所特殊教育学校,采用自编问卷与访谈相结合的方式,对特殊教育学校脑瘫学生的教育康复情况进行调查研究.调查发现,大部分学校对脑瘫学生的评估认识不足,评估流程不规范,评估结果的应用缺乏科学性;仅有部分学校为脑瘫学生制定了IEP,且IEP制定的依据不当,内容、角色不合理;各方支持作用未能发挥,学生需求未充分满足;家校合作不充分,脑瘫学生教育康复支持系统与教育康复模式欠缺. 相似文献
