脱脱蔑儿吉台氏是元末少有的宰相、政治家、忠君之臣。他曾为元朝建立过汗马之功,却落得被贬、遇害的下场。关于脱脱之流亡处,史料记载不同:有脱脱亡滇说、中途被害说、亡于淮安说。笔者利用正史、地方志、私人著述等史料考证脱脱最终流亡地,指出后两种说法之谬。据有关线索初步认同脱脱亡滇说。
