介绍《辽宁中医药大学学报》的《名医经验》特色栏目设计思路、遵循国家政策导向、学科特色与栏目特色的统一、编辑心得等方面的实践与体会.认为精品栏目是品牌期刊的重要载体,是期刊特色的重要体现,是反映学术期刊办刊质量和学术水准的重要指标.     

A Review of: “HMO/PPO Directory. Mackenzie,Leslie”

This column describes a collaboration between faculty members in an Allied Health program and academic librarians to provide information literacy instruction to students enrolled in an evidence-based practice course. The process of collaboration is described beginning with the inception of the idea to collaborate, which grew out of an informal conversation between librarians and Allied Health faculty. Implementation of the project is described as well as future plans for the collaboration. The column also discusses initial impressions of student outcomes as well as plans for a more rigorous study of those outcomes.     

Fake News,Special Libraries and What It Means to Be American

This column is written by column editor Ilana Stonebraker and guest columnist Emily Johnson. Ilana Stonebraker is Business Information Specialist and Assistant Professor at Purdue University. Emily Johnson is the Middle School Librarian and Library Coordinator at Daystar Academy in Beijing, China. They both received an MSI from the University of Michigan. This column focuses on the “fake news” phenomenon and how it affects special libraries.

介绍期刊多媒体出版的模式,对其难点和优势进行分析,同时对栏目设计、实施条件、平台支撑等进行总结。以《Science China Information Sciences》的MOOP栏目为例,对多媒体栏目设计、制作、评审等进行详细介绍,并通过阅读量和SCI引用情况,说明多媒体出版在扩大宣传、增加文章可信度,以及提高期刊影响力等方面相比于传统出版有较大优势。     

弘传统文化之学 彰学术名栏之蕴

文章以教育部首批学报名栏“岳麓书院与传统文化”为例,论述高校学报如何利用学术资源办出学报特色。《湖南大学学报（社会科学版）》所设“岳麓书院与传统文化”栏目,依托岳麓书院优势学科及学术平台,长期致力于传统文化的学术传播。通过精准的学术定位,策划者不断创新选题思路, 倾力打造栏目文化品牌;学术上推陈出新,产生若干学术板块,在专题细分和学术发掘上成绩斐然;此外,专家主持栏目有力拓展了专题范畴及学术内涵,并构建起包括内地、港台、海外等学者在内的庞大作者群,稿源结构得到持续优化。岳麓书院高水平学科建设和优良学术传统及海内外学者的深度参与融汇成强劲的文化合力,有序推进栏目的学术发展,造就了学术名栏的良好声誉。     

Designing an Interactive Web-based Tutorial for Health Sciences Students: A Collaborative Library Project

This column describes the creation of an online interactive tutorial for health sciences students in a general library at a large, urban university. The project was a collaborative effort among the health sciences subject librarian, the library’s web programmer, an assessment and user services librarian, and an instructional support specialist. The column details the initial exploration, design, web programming, student usability study, and subsequent upgrades to the tutorial. Implementation of the tutorial is discussed as well as sampled student input. The effort resulted in the design of improved and more versatile open access coding available for any library to use.     

Difficult Conversations

Organizations by their very nature will incur conflict and individuals will need to negotiate differences, behaviors, and performance. Effective leaders understand that difficult conversations are necessary in managing an organization or unit. No one wants to initiate a difficult conversation or to address performance issues but it is essential that leaders face the need to have hard conversations and in so doing, the organization will benefit from an ongoing dialogue. This column will discuss the need for difficult conversations and some tips for facilitating a dialogue. 通过对随机抽取的国内外土木工程类期刊栏目设置的比较,提出了关于栏目建设的建议。认为:小栏目不仅为期刊与作者提供了互动的空间,而且能全面地展示相关领域内丰富的信息;加强小栏目建设对于开展与作者的互动、形成期刊的特色具有重要的作用。     

Mind the Generation Gap: Millennials and Boomers in the Library Workplace

As editor of On My Mind, I wanted to introduce myself and let you, the reader, know a little bit about what I intend this column to be. Primarily, I want it to be a venue for you to write about anything that has been bugging you or that you think needs to be said. This is an opinion column so please share your opinion. Maybe you want to talk about what you wished you had learned in library school. Or, perhaps you have a bone to pick with people who rely too much on using statistics in their weeding of books from the library's shelves. Whether the majority of librarians hold your opinion or not, I will try to give you a venue to express your thoughts. Also, this column is intended to be informal; feel free to use the first person. That does not mean that you cannot or should not back up statements you make with research. Please do. It does mean that personal anecdotes and stories are encouraged and make for a more interesting read. Finally, inquiries into writing for this column should be directed to me via e-mail. André J. Nault has been the head of the Veterinary Medical Library at the University of Minnesota since 2005 and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. 目前,各家电视台都把打造民生新闻栏目看成提高新闻报道影响力和收视份额的一条重要途径。但随之而来的是观众和业界对电视民生新闻同质低俗的批评也越来越强烈。电视民生新闻亚待转型与提升,已经成为业界共识。随着栏目品牌的不断增加,竞争也日益激烈,如何在竞争中生存,建立高品质的栏目品牌,在如雨后春笋般淋漓的节目中脱颖而出,是值得广大新闻人考虑的又一课题。     

BEST OF THE LITERATURE

Abstract

Welcome to the new “Best of the Literature” column of Public Services Quarterly. Every issue of this column will provide a survey of the best of the recent library literature either on a particular topic within public services (as with this first column on services to distance learners) or on public services broadly conceived. I hope that this column can highlight library literature that deserves to be read by every public services librarian. Ideally, readers of the column and I will collaborate to select the best of the literature. In that spirit, suggestions for great articles or special topics are always welcome.     

A Review of Recent Readership

Data about the readership of JLA is shared with readers. A general review of the articles that have been contributed to the column emphasizes their countries of origin, the topics, and readership of each. Global readers are then considered without inclusion of USA readers’ data. Some countries rank very high because they have many readers, while others are much lower. Is this a question of readers’ ability to use English language, or is it a reflection of reader interest in content? The data is general information about use, the number of downloads, and does not extend sufficiently to answer such a question. But it does show a statistical sketch of readers and the countries they represent. Additional discussion is then given to the articles that have been written for the column, and gives prospective future authors some suggestions that include possible future topics of interest. Geography, culture, and an international view are what set this column apart, and are the keys of opportunity for future contributors to have their professional voice expressed in a global discussion.

我国图书馆学核心期刊栏目设置分析

在介绍我国图书馆学核心期刊栏目的数目、类型、重复情况及特色栏目的基础上,概括近年来我国图书馆学核心期刊栏目的设置有从等级明确向平面化方向发展的趋势,栏目总数呈波动变化,并有减少趋势的特点。提出我国图书馆学核心期刊栏目设置应明确栏目定位,注重品牌栏目的经营和相对稳定性以及需要加强栏目之间的逻辑联系等建议。     

依循实例铸造栏目魅力 ——《中国实用儿科杂志》栏目策划的循证实践

"循证价值观"所倡导的医学实践理念使医学期刊读者的阅读兴奋点发生了深刻的转变。《中国实用儿科杂志》在栏目策划实践中运用先进的循证理念将医学期刊与临床和读者对接,适时满足受众需求,使栏目的个性特征与期刊的特色相得益彰,同时也获得了期刊栏目策划循证实践的宝贵经验。     

Effect of Lecturers' Attitude on Use of Educational Support Systems for Teaching in University-based Library Schools in Nigeria

Welcome to the Global Postcards column! We are so excited to bring you news and projects from around the world. We have one main contribution for this column: a librarian, Taiwo Akinde, and a lecturer, Airen Adetimirin, both of the University of Ibadan in Nigeria show us an investigation of the effect of attitude to use on the use of Educational Support Systems (ESS) by lecturers for teaching in the university-based library schools in their country.
