Shanghai Unveils Large Steerable Radio Telescope

Several organizations are planning the construction of gigantic telescopes to come into operation by the end of the century. These will increase our collecting power many times over and together with the operation of smaller space-based telescopes and the development of techniques to overcome the degradation of images through the atmosphere, enormous progress in the understanding of our Universe is within grasp. The European Southern Observatory has advanced plans for a 16-metre telescope, the Very Large Telescope (VLT).

湿法脱硫如何导致大面积雾霾

湿法脱硫技术从国外引进后,由于各种原因,烟气换热器(GGH)被取消,造成燃煤湿烟气低空、低温排放,成为中国大面积雾霾产生的一个重要诱因。根据对湿法脱硫前后颗粒物变化的研究,脱硫后细颗粒物数量(PM2.5以下)增加400多倍!这些超细颗粒物与湿烟气混在一起,成为雾霾的核心,同时,在排向空中后,与空气中其它不凝气体吸附在一起,形成"团状颗粒物",在静稳和逆温环境下,这些"团状颗粒物"不断累积,很快形成重度雾霾。地方环保部门已经开始对湿法脱硫烟气排放的问题开始采取措施,但如果要迅速消除或减轻雾霾,必须对湿法脱硫烟气排放进行全面治理。
