REPORT OF THE INVESTIGATION OF CURRICULUM AND VOLUNTARY BIBLE STUDY IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

This article reviews the challenges provided by a plural condition toward doing religious education in the Philippines. The problem of Philippine religious education hinges on the fact that the growing plural condition in the educational system remains until now “un-discussed” or integrated in many schools. Not much is heard about proposing a platform of dialogue within religious education. Dialogue is more often associated with inter-faith initiatives beyond the learning environment. If religious education should be an instrument in the formation of the right Christian attitudes among the young, dialogue must be an urgent Christian agenda in Philippine religious education.     

THE VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF ORAL EXAMINATIONS IN ASSESSING COGNITIVE SKILLS IN MEDICINE1

In order to attempt to assess aspects of clinical competence, not adequately assessed by other means, the Center for the Study of Medical Education, University of Illinois College of Medicine together with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery developed oral examinations in formats specifically designed to yield information on high level cognitive functioning. The examinations were administered to 784 candidates for certification in January 1968. Reliability of the oral problem-solving component score pooled from four examiners was approximately .50. Assessment of content, construct, and concurrent validity made by questionnaire and factor analytic studies indicated that the oral tests identified factors not measured by multiple-choice tests and, therefore, significantly improved the relationship between supervisory evaluations and test scores.     

论“过程完整化教学模式”的确立及其特点

完整的教学过程是教授和学习两种过程的有机结合、相互作用；教师通过跟踪控制，保证教学信息流程顺利进行；学生在经历同化、顺应和自我调节中达到第一次和第二次平衡，从而实现预定教学目标，形成教学新效应—新质的过程。“过程完整化”是一种素质教育模式。它首先强调的是教育观的变革，然后才是方法、手段、途径、内容等的改革。要使教学过程完整化，首先教师要转变观念，学会“过程完整化”操作。本模式在小学、中学甚至大学的文理多学科课堂教学以及班主任工作中得到推广，社会效益显著     

ASSISTING QUALITY ASSESSMENT AND IMPROVEMENT IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF SLOVENIA

There are two universities in Slovenia which undertake research and teaching and offer professional services. The quality of the research performed by faculty members is assured by strict quantitative bibliographical criteria employed in the faculty rank award procedure. The criteria for teaching quality are less well defined. The new Higher Education Act of 1993, organized university staff development, the appearance of an integrated information system, and student evaluation of faculty teaching performance with the aid of student questionnaires can all be regarded as extrinsic assistance to intrinsic efforts on the part of faculty, students, and their organizations. Slovenia will endeavour to broaden and deepen its co‐operation with international organizations and foundations in the field of quality assessment and improvement of higher education institutions, particularly the quality of the teaching they offer.     

清代归化城土默特地区常设性慈善机构发展原因探析

清乾隆元年（1736年）归化城土默特地区开始出现常设性慈善机构。这些机构之所以得以发展,究其原因,一是最高统治者为了巩固北疆而大力提倡该地发展慈善机构;二是官吏注重自身垂范的同时,抓住地区特点,制定执行了“发商生息”的经营管理方式,这是该地区慈善机构生存发展的主要原因;三是经济模式的转变为该地慈善机构的发展提供了良好的文化氛围;外国教会的渗透在客观上也发挥了一定的推动作用。     

THE USE OF A FACTOR-ANALYTIC MODEL FOR ASSESSING THE VALIDITY OF GROUP COMPARISONS

This paper assesses the validity of a comparison of mean test scores for two groups of students, and of a longitudinal comparison of means within each group. Using LISREL, confirmatory factor analyses were carried out (a) to test the hypotheses of similar factor patterns, equal units of measurement, and equal accuracy of measurement between the two groups, and (b) to estimate the correlation between the latent traits measured by two successive test administrations in each group. The results indicate (a) that a comparison of the group means may be invalid because, although the factor pattern was the same for both groups, the factors were not measured in the same units, and (b) that longitudinal comparisons within each group are seriously complicated by evidence of structural change.     

THE CONTROL AND EVALUATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

The procedures for the licensing, attestation, and accreditation of educational institutions in the Russian Federation are listed and described. The reasons for a unified system of control and evaluation of educational institutions, particularly higher education institutions, are explained.     

我国高校收费制度改革的分析与思考

本文从学费、支付能力、高校经费来源和贫困学生资助等四个方面,对中美两国高校收费制度进行了比较,对进一步推进我国高校收费制度改革和配套措施提出了建议。     

电脑表现促进了室内设计综合表现的变革

笔者从电脑表现的特点出发论述了电脑表现对室内设计综合表现的重要作用，指出了电脑表现作为一种新的表现方式，对传统设计观念、设计方法、设计过程以及设计营销方式所产生的冲击，强调了电脑表现与手绘表现的关系以及手绘表现对设计思维发展的重要作用。提出了两者并重的观点。     

探析我国高校体育发展方向

社会对体育的需求不断增加,使得社会体育蓬勃发展.然而,与之相对应的诸多不和谐现象仍然存在.高校体育肩负着学校体育顺利过渡至社会体育的重任,通过分析我国社会体育需求得知,高校体育必须利用其资源优势,营造出适应社会需求.以及人才产生与成长的氛围和条件,从而推动社会体育发展.     

NEED FOR CAREER EDUCATION IN THE UNITED STATES HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Career education is given increasing importance by the growing employment problems of higher education graduates. Below we give a summary of a statement concerning this problem in US four‐year colleges and universities prepared by the Committee on Career Education of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). The statement was presented during the AASCU Annual Conference held in New Orleans from 10 to 13 November 1976.     

THE VALIDITY OF ACADEMIC PREDICTORS FOR BLACK AND WHITE STUDENTS AT A PREDOMINANTLY WHITE UNIVERSITY1

High school grades and both the verbal and mathematical scales of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT-V and SAT-M, respectively) were examined as predictors of college grade point average in groups divided by race and sex. Results indicated that high school grades were not correlated as highly with college grades for black males as for the other three groups, although there were no significant differences in the correlation of either SAT-V or SAT-M with college grades. Moreover, the multiple regression equation for the black male group differed from the equations for the other groups in that SAT-V is the predictor of primary importance rather than high school grades. Weights derived on a random sample of the student body caused substantial shrinkage of the multiple R only in the black male sample. Both black males and black females were significantly overpredicted by such weights. The importance of separate prediction equations for race-sex groupings was emphasized.
