A Self-Instructional Approach to Environmental Decision Making: Focus on Land Use

Abstract

The following paper explores the conceptual models of thought which have recently emerged to confront the conventional approaches to analysis and solution of complex problems. Beginning with a critical attack on the tradition of specialization and reductionism, the author then summarizes several models which have originated from ecology, cybernetics, and systems theory. Throughout the paper is an emphasis on the potential contribution that such models can make to complex areas of policy and management, particularly within the environmental professions. Equally stressed is the fundamental importance of social learning and collective problem solving, particularly as engendered in the environmental professions as learning facilitators. The substance of the paper therefore promises a dual significance to environmental education—first, in the preparation of successive generations of individuals who are prepared to interpret, analyze, and respond adaptively to changing issues of great complexity; and second, to help develop the environmental professions as catalytic agents within society through which the public gains increasing awareness of and participation in critical policy debate. Through the evolving enhancement of the models exemplified by those described, the author asserts that both those working directly in environmental issues as well as society at large will benefit.     

Audio-Visual Training in the Netherlands

In 1972 the Netherlands Institute for Audio-Visual Media (NIAM) in the Hague established a new department in Rotterdam to provide information and advice on the selection of audiovisual equipment and training in the use and applications of the different media. The information service was to be provided free of charge, but a fee would be charge for the training courses.

The first International Audio-Visual Symposium was held in Montreux from 15-20 June 1980. The event will be held biannually.     

Audio-Visual Media in the Kindergarten

In October 1972 the sound of hammers could be heard in an isolated corner of the Library Complex at what was to become known as the Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri. The area under construction was to be the new Micro–teaching Laboratory, fully equipped with the latest videotape equipment. In June, 1973, the Microteaching Laboratory was officially opened. The College was now prepared to undertake the development of a full scale microteaching programme.     

A Comparison of Audio-Visual and Written Presentations in Self-Instructed Learning

Abstract

An experimental study was conducted to compare the effectiveness of audio-visual and written presentations in self-instructed learning. Subjects examined showed in one instance that listening with a visual component was as effective as reading, and under the other condition, listening with a visual component was superior to reading. The findings and implications are discussed.

教师在就业指导课堂教学中运用现代教育技术手段教学,是改进教学方法、提高教学效率的一种有效途径。文章从国家级精品课程《就业与创业》的课程实践经验出发,提出利用现代教育技术实现改善课堂教学效果的建议。     

视听教学法在高职思想政治理论课中的运用

1946年,美国教育家埃德加·戴尔提出了以著名的"经验之塔"为核心的视听教学理论体系。本文针对当前高职学生对思想政治理论课学习兴趣不浓这一现象,提出用视听教学法来改善课堂教学环境、提高学生学习兴趣、更好地完成教学任务,并在教学实际运用中取得了一定成效。
