Research typically focuses on one medium. But in today's digital media environment, people use and are influenced by their experience with multiple systems. Building on media ecology research, we introduce the notion of integrated media effects. We draw on resource dependence and homophily theories to analyze the mechanisms that connect media systems. To test the integrated media effects, we examine the relationships between news media visibility and social media visibility and hyperlinking patterns among 410 nongovernmental organization (NGO) websites in China. NGOs with greater news media visibility and more social media followers receive significantly more hyperlinks. Further, NGOs with a similar number of social media followers prefer to hyperlink to each other. The results suggest that both news media and social media systems are related to the configuration of hyperlink networks, providing support for the integrated media effects described. Implications for the study of hyperlink networks, online behaviors of organizations, and public relations are drawn from the results.  相似文献

Observing the positive aspects of others’ lives on social media (SM) can bring about envy among users. Drawing from social comparison and technology acceptance theories, this study develops a research model to explain how envy occurs and impacts SM users’ behavior. In this work, we conducted two studies across three different SM settings to investigate two types of envy, benign and malicious envy. The results show that malicious envy is negatively related to the dependent variable of SM use intention while benign envy facilitates it. The findings provide many valuable contributions to both information systems (IS) academia and industry. This study identifies the unique SM factors intertwining with envy. Moreover, this work helps SM users and practitioners be aware of the potential envy issue on SM so they can take effective actions to enhance SM use.  相似文献

The present paper explores the relationship between nature of Facebook usage, non-directional comparisons and depressive syndromes. The extant research on linkage between social media usage and mental health is inconclusive. The paper uses data collected through an online survey of 399 Facebook users in the UK. A Facebook frequency rating scale was developed and validated as a part of the study. The Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure was modified and used to measure social comparison. The depressive syndromes were captured by the modified Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale. The Rank Theory of Depression was used a guiding framework. The data collection had focused on the 20–29 year olds, as justified by the literature.The study found a negative relationship between active Facebook use and non-directional social comparisons. The relationship was reversed in the case of passive usage. There is small but significant causal linkage between increased non-directional social comparisons and depressive symptoms among the users.  相似文献

Abuse of information entrusted to organizations can result in a variety of privacy violations and trust concerns for consumers. In the event of violations, a social media brand or organization renders an apology – a form of social account – to alleviate users’ concerns and maintain user membership and engagement with the platform. To explore the link between apology offered by a social media brand or organization and the users’ trust dynamics in the brand’s services, we study how organizational integrity can contribute to reducing individuals’ privacy concerns whiles increasing or repairing their trust. Drawing on organizational behavioral integrity literature, our proposed research model suggests that the persuasiveness of an apology following a data breach affects users’ trust or spillover trust through their perceptions of the degree of alignment between the words in the apology and the actions of the violating entity. Based on a survey of Facebook users, our findings show that persuasiveness of an apology has a significant impact on users’ perceptions of the alignment between the social media brand’s (i.e. Facebook) words and subsequent actions. These perceptions impact social media brand trust (i.e. users’ trust in Facebook and allied services such as Instagram). We also find that, post data breach incidence, while integrity of the social media organization partially mediates the relationship between persuasive apology and users’ trust, it fully mediates the relationship between the persuasive apology and the privacy concerns expressed by the users. However, users’ privacy concerns do not contribute much to the repair of trust needed to maintain their membership.  相似文献

在逻辑理路上澄清社会风险与社会信任之间存在的互为因果性的关联机制,并在充分阐释采用知识图谱研究范式解析中国社会风险与社会信任的正当性基础之上,使用SPSS与Ucinet对超过2000篇以“社会风险”和“社会信任”为篇名或关键词的中文文献进行“多维尺度分析”和“社会网络分析”,从而透视到了当代中国在现实中所面临的社会风险与社会信任问题的主要来源、发生领域、主要类型等方面的特征;也在一定程度上明确了中国社会中的社会风险与社会信任在类型、特征和性质等方面与西方社会的差异.据此提出,中国政府应优先建立“制度的信任”,才可能有效化解以整个社会系统不断增加的复杂性所意味着的持续增加的社会风险,从而保持未来中国社会的长期和谐稳定.  相似文献

The US response to the 2010 Haiti Earthquake was a large effort coordinated by three major agencies that worked in tandem with the Government of Haiti, the United Nations, and many countries from around the globe. Managing this response effort was a complex undertaking that relied extensively on knowledge management systems (KMS). For the first time, however, US government agencies employed social media technologies such as wikis and collaborative workspaces as the main knowledge sharing mechanisms. In this research we present a case study developed through action research of how these social media technologies were used, what influences they made on knowledge sharing, reuse, and decision-making, and how knowledge was effectively (and at times ineffectively) maintained in these systems. First-hand knowledge of the response is used, offering strategies for future deployment of social media and important research questions that remain regarding social media as knowledge management systems, particularly for disaster and emergency management.  相似文献

This study examines the extent to which politicians' visibility in traditional news coverage explains individual politicians' visibility on social media, and vice versa. We also explore whether these relationships depend on commonly identified characteristics of individual politicians. We collected data for all elected candidates from the 2012 Dutch national elections covering each 15 days prior to the election day (N = 2250). This includes 2736 newspaper articles and 77,597 mentions on Facebook and Twitter. Our results show that the traditional news agenda and social media agenda impact each other, but that the reciprocal influence is not independent of politician characteristics.  相似文献

智库作为战略与政策研究和决策咨询机构,其国际影响力是全球化时代一个国家软实力的重要表现,是综合国力的重要组成部分,而增强智库的国际传播力是智库国际影响力塑造的关键举措和国家对外传播的重要战略。当今时代,国际社交媒体作为智库对外传播的重要渠道,加强中国智库在国际社交媒体平台的传播力是提升其国际影响力的主要方向。文章分析社交媒体时代为中国智库国际传播带来的机遇,比较中国智库与国际知名智库在利用国际社交媒体进行对外传播方面的差异,进而提出社交媒体时代中国智库国际传播力提升的有效路径,为中国智库国际化传播的建设,尤其是中国智库通过国际社交媒体提升国际传播力,提供参考和借鉴。分析发现中国智库与国外智库在国际传播力方面存在明显差距,建议中国智库在当下的社交媒体时代将智库国际传播能力视为核心业务能力体系的重要组成部分,构建并增强“思想—资源—信息—传播”四大智库关键网络,实施国际化战略、开放化战略、学术圈战略、“朋友圈”战略、思想力战略、宏议题战略、社交媒体战略、红播主战略的组合战略以提升我国智库的国际传播力。  相似文献

Enterprise social media (ESM) is an emerging platform based on Web 2.0 that allows employees to communicate and collaborate. Despite its numerous opportunities and benefits, there is a growing awareness of the “dark side” of the improper use of ESM in organizations. However, the findings in this aspect remain fragmented in prior literature. Our study attempts to address this research gap by capturing the dark side of ESM’s misuse from a conflict-based perspective through a comprehensive literature review of existing literature. We systematically classify different conflicts in ESM’s use, their antecedents, and subsequent negative outcomes and propose specific measures to mitigate them. On these grounds, we develop a holistic conceptual framework to clarify the relationship between these research constructs. Our research indicates that the conflicts in ESM’s use are primarily caused by inappropriate use behavior, prompted by technical characteristics. In addition, we synthesize the negative outcomes of the conflicts with a focus on the individual level from both psychological and behavioral perspectives. Our paper identifies possible opportunities for future research and provides a useful basis to further investigate the dark side of ESM’s misuse. Employees and organizations can also use our conceptual framework to better understand the causes and consequences of conflicts in the use of ESM and develop corresponding measures to mitigate them.  相似文献

如何与产业融合是人工智能技术发展的关键。鉴于"万物皆媒"的未来场景,对智能媒体技术的发展趋势、技术集群演变和国际竞争态势研究对媒体行业及其相关行业的发展,国家核心竞争力的提高都至关重要。本文对2008年至2020年间的专利数据进行检索,鉴别出75 051条德温特专利数据作为分析基础。采取关键词、专利代码及学科领域相结合的方法确定了智能媒体技术涉及的专利范围;结合时间变迁和聚类分析将智能媒体技术的发展分为平稳、迅速、平缓和迅猛发展四个阶段;利用共词分析建立了不同专利代码之间的共现关系,利用社会化网络分析将共现关系可视化,识别出不同阶段的主要技术集群;结合企业专利拥有量及所属国家分析了智能媒体技术的国际竞争态势。基于以上定量分析从媒体业务与智能技术融合视角提出了媒体机构的智能化战略建议,从智能媒体技术研发、行业应用、国际竞争力提升视角提出了智能媒体产业发展政策建议。本文基于专利测度从发展趋势、技术集群演变和国际竞争态势三方面分析了智能媒体技术发展规律,为从专利视角对人工智能技术与产业融合的研究提供了方法体系。  相似文献

Marketers increasingly use social media platforms as a promotion channel, and doing this, they prefer highly interactive social media because it allows consumers to socialize and network better. However, in this media, attention is often restricted towards primary purpose only as a result of the level of interactivity, thereby affecting consumer response towards the advertisement(ad). In this setting, the study analyzes the role of media interactivity and the effects it has on the reaction of customers towards the social media ad. Further, the study also introduces the conditional role of message relevant aspects, such as message vividness and anthropomorphism, and examines the intervening role of flow experience. Results from a between-subjects study indicate that interactivity hurts the consumer ad reactions. It also suggests that the right use of message relevant aspects can mitigate these adverse effects. Thus, the study makes a significant contribution to the literature and practice regarding the effects of social media interactivity which is relatively recent and has been overlooked by past researchers.  相似文献

Building and maintaining favorable social media relationships with customers require that organizations produce quality content that fits customers’ needs. So far, little if any research has conceptualized and measured this kind of content quality in the context of social media. Therefore, this study proposes and empirically examines a new construct, compatible quality of social media content, which adds to knowledge by expanding prior online content quality research beyond the traditional focus on non-fit quality beliefs. The results of structural equation modeling of responses collected from a sample of active social media users reveal at least three worth noting findings. First, the study confirmed the multidimensionality of compatible quality of social media content, which encompasses reflective, stimulated, practiced, and advocated components. Second, there was equivalence in the measurements of the studied constructs and the structural weights of the proposed network of relationships across the different gender and experience subgroups. Third, compatible quality of social media content was found to influence continued interest, active confidence, and feedback openness. The practical and research implications of these results are discussed.  相似文献

Social media have been adopted by many businesses. More and more companies are using social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter to provide various services and interact with customers. As a result, a large amount of user-generated content is freely available on social media sites. To increase competitive advantage and effectively assess the competitive environment of businesses, companies need to monitor and analyze not only the customer-generated content on their own social media sites, but also the textual information on their competitors’ social media sites. In an effort to help companies understand how to perform a social media competitive analysis and transform social media data into knowledge for decision makers and e-marketers, this paper describes an in-depth case study which applies text mining to analyze unstructured text content on Facebook and Twitter sites of the three largest pizza chains: Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza and Papa John's Pizza. The results reveal the value of social media competitive analysis and the power of text mining as an effective technique to extract business value from the vast amount of available social media data. Recommendations are also provided to help companies develop their social media competitive analysis strategy.  相似文献

 研究企业家导向对企业从关键合作企业处知识获取的影响,并关注企业间社会资本的三个具体维度——网络连接、关系信任和共享愿景——对企业家导向和企业间知识获取之间关系的调节效应。利用122家企业样本数据,采用多阶段线性回归法的经验研究结果表明:企业家导向倒U影响企业间知识获取;企业间网络连接、关系信任和共享愿景均以这样的方式分别调节企业家导向与企业间知识获取之间的倒U关系:相比于低水平时,高水平的网络连接、关系信任以及共享愿景使不同水平的企业家导向均更有利于企业间知识获取,并且高水平的企业家导向比低水平和中等水平的企业家导向更有利于企业间知识获取。  相似文献

As social network services become more pervasive, social media advertising emerges as an attractive vehicle for augmenting advertising effectiveness. To leverage this new means of marketing, one must understand what engages SNS users in a favorable online behavior (i.e., overtly indicating personal interest in, or support for, the exposed message by clicking the Like or Share button in Facebook), thereby resulting in an effective advertising campaign. This research conceptualizes SNS ad effectiveness as a concept encompassing emotional appeal, informativeness and creativity that all have a potential to contribute to a positive online behavior. It empirically investigates the antecedents of positive user behavior for a SNS ad based on the theory of reasoned action, the social influence theory, and a persuasion theory. It proposes and tests a conceptual model of the formation of online user’s behavioral responses with regards to SNS advertising. The results of our empirical tests of the model reveal that informativeness and advertising creativity were key drivers of favorable behavioral responses to an SNS ad and that intention to engage in favorable user responses was positively associated with purchase intention. Based on these findings, the paper suggests further research directions and offers implications for harnessing the full potential of the new SNS advertising platform.  相似文献

The concept of acculturation has been based on the assumption of an adaptation process, whereby immigrants lose aspects of their heritage cultures in favour of aspects of a host culture (i.e. assimilation). Past research has shown that acculturation preferences result in various possibilities and influence consumption behaviour. However, the impact of social media on consumer acculturation is underexplored, although the social purpose and information sharing online is utilized for a variety of social purposes. Recent studies have shown the transformation from an offline to an online context, in which social networks play an integral part in immigrants’ communications, relationships and connections. This study merges the views from a number of leading contributors to highlight significant opportunities and challenges for future consumer acculturation research influenced by social media. 利用广东和江西两省的320家民营科技企业样本数据,在将民营科技企业社会责任分为内部社会责任和外部社会责任基础上,实证分析民营科技企业社会责任与企业绩效的关系并检验企业横向社会资本和纵向社会资本在二者之间的中介效应。研究显示:具有较高的横向社会资本的民营科技企业内部社会责任对企业绩效影响较大,横向社会资本较高的民营科技企业外部社会责任对企业绩效影响较小;具有较丰富的纵向社会资本的民营科技企业的内部社会责任对企业绩效影响较大,纵向社会资本较高的民营科技企业外部社会责任对企业绩效的影响较小。  相似文献
