In academia, the marketing department should use one of its own inherent techniques-positioning-to increase the number of students for its courses. The triangular approach to positioning is based on a close scrutiny of the student profile, the benefits which marketing courses offer, and the competition the department faces from within and outside the school of business administration. The positioning technique can also be used by other academic departments.

Better Solutions Through Better Requirements: The Link Between HPT and Business Analysis

G2000's HR Execution Excellence was one of the innovative projects to receive the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) Award of Excellence 2016. It is a continuous‐improvement project that applies holistic human performance improvement using an ISPI human performance technology model (ISPI, 2012) to streamline the front‐end and back‐end processes of a retail attendance system (RAS). Thus, it improved one of G2000's strategic capabilities: regulatory and social practices. During the process of developing the strategic capabilities and assembling the right combination of processes, knowledge, skills, and organizational fabric, working group and its system of play become critical. The question is how to reshape the work environment to sustain high performance from the strategic change. One way to position a change agent for success is by managing holistic requirements and intensely promoting and developing the bridge to the future.     

Leading the Pack: Developing Empowering Responsible Use Policies

School leaders around the world navigate a learning environment where most students have (or soon will have) ubiquitous access to an Internet-connected device. As a result, districts have implemented acceptable use policies (AUPs) to address the ways that students are using those technologies. In this study, we analyzed the AUPs of 75 one-to-one computing school districts in one Midwestern state in the United States. We examined and coded each AUP and identified three major themes. Based on the findings from that analysis, a roadmap for creating a responsive and empowering responsible use policy (RUP) is proposed.

In this article, we share with readers our hopes, fears, and predictions for reading assessment in American schools at a critical policy juncture—the production of new assessments to measure achievement of the Common Core State Standards. It isn't just Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers and Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium in play. There is a new stream of progressive-minded pedagogical reform rekindling the fire for higher-order thinking, project-based learning, and learning that transfers to new and different situations and problems. This is a perfect storm—a genuine opportunity to change the course of assessment for accountability and classroom decision-making.
