Do you know something about drinks in America? Please read the following and learn more. There are many kinds of beer in the USA. “Light”and “dark”are two kinds. It is normal to order beer by its brand name (牌子). It comes in bottles and cans. You can also get it “on top!”at bars, pubs, and discos. You will get it in a glass or a pitcher. You may take the pitcher and glasses to your table so you won’t need to go back to the bar often.Sometimes beer comes in bottles with tops that l…  相似文献

There are a number of phrases built on the word “put”, such as put by, put for, put across, put over and so forth. The expression“putting one on”is among them. You tell a person something that he finds difficult to believe, and he may look at you closely and ask:“Are you putting me on?”He does-n蒺t think you are serious. Perhaps, you are joking with him, teasing him, try-ing to test his reaction(反应).The expression “putting one on”is closest to the phrase “to put one over on a perso…  相似文献

The role of textbooks,as one important channel between teachers and students, has always aroused scholars’interests, but what indeed are the roles of textbook for students and teachers? This paper aims to evaluate a listening textbook that is used by English major university students in China.Three research questions are proposed which are:(1) What are the students’per ceptions about the listening textbook? (2) What are the teachers’opinions about the listening textbook? (3) To what extent do students and teachers perceptions match? In order to answer these three research questions, questionnaires were designed for both students and teachers to obtain the data. This study is supported both qualitatively and quantitatively. The data of this research suggested that both students and teachers have found advantages of this listening textbook, which they may find helpful for their learning and teaching, but they are also not satisfied with some aspects of the textbook, which they think need further improvement. The students’and teachers’opinions to some extent have reached some agreement about the textbook, but students may not be so enthusiastic about the textbook, while the teachers may show much reliance on the text book. This study has its limitations, but it also provides some insights for teachers and textbook writers.  相似文献

Higher education is the product of three constituents, the policy makers or government, the executors or faculty and the recipients or the students or scholars. Steadiness among different constituents in given social interaction can act as facilitating motive and it could make higher education more smooth and productive. The “steadiness” in the pilot study is “a parameter that helps the three constituents of higher education to communicate to each other without ambiguity or say on a same frequency” and is very close to the factor “similarity”. Studies prove that “similarities” help group cohesion, improve performance and social relations etc. So to assume that the presence of like-mindedness or “similarity” or say “steadiness” in the field of higher education has the potential to decrease the amount of stress and to increase the productivity or outcome (successful policies, objective assessments, scholars, research, utility etc.), is justified. And the assumption possesses the testable potential to study policy, assessment, implementation and other allied issues objectively. Many methods of social research and experimental designs are feasible for such study. A pilot study of a biography proves that the study of “similarity” in higher education for quality and assessment is viable and possesses the potential to produce better scholars, can enable the government to improve economy, can help to produce a strong next generation, can positively contribute to strengthen the social institutions and society and above all can bring a positive change in higher education that has been merely claimed for last many years. It is recommended that the proposed “similarity” may be studied in the field of higher education to help the government to formulate and execute policies based on social psychological evidence to enable the executors to best utilize their potential to help the recipients and learners to grow as per their full potential.  相似文献

Deep Concern in New Horizon College English (Reading and Writing Book1) describes a generation gap in an American family. In the text, the parents worry about their daughter’s listening to rock music for it may bring negative impact on her. Nowadays there is definitely music with unwholesome or depraved thoughts that may mislead listeners. Should people therefore refuse to listen to music or refuse the influence of music on emotion? The essay will focus on the issue to have a review on the relationship between emotion and music.  相似文献

Simply put, the objective of genomic medicine is to determine the genetic bases of those differences in response to environmental agents, including medications, and differences that may predispose to the development of common and potentially personally devastating and societally expensive disorders, and to use them in populations to thwart adverse response, increase the frequency of beneficial response, and intervene to prevent or delay onset of disease.  相似文献

In order to ensure the highest safety requirements, nuclear power plant structures (the containment structures, the fuel storages and transportation systems) should be assessed against all possible internal and external impact threats. The internal impact threats include kinetic missiles generated by the failure of high pressure vessels and pipes, the failure of high speed rotating machineries and accidental drops, The external impact threats may come from airborne missiles, aircraft impact, explosion blast and fragments. The impact effects of these threats on concrete and steel structures in a nuclear power plant are discussed. Methods and procedures for the impact assessment of nuclear power plants are introduced. Recent studies on penetration and perforation mechanics as well as progresses on dynamic properties of concrete-like materials are presented to increase the understanding of the impact effects on concrete containment structures.  相似文献

Ⅰ.What will the weather be like? What will the weather be like? Some people say they can know what the weather will be like from birds. When they see birds fly high out to the sea, they know it is a nice day, because birds don't like to fly out when it will rain. When the weather will be bad,the birds come back to the beach.A big wind may come with a rain.Birds do not like to fly in a big wind. They may sit in a tree when rain is coming.Other animals can also tell the weather. If it's a cloudy day and the rain is coming, chickens aren't quiet, and they are running here and there.Frogs(青蛙) are making big noise in the pool.If it is a nice day,the frogs will come out of the water.  相似文献

In the history of humanity, there are so many great thinkers contributing a lot to our lives. In education area, thinkers in both eastern and western countries left so many master pieces to later generation. Are there any difference between their ideas of learning? What makes the differences between Chinese learner and those from western countries? In this paper,I will try to explain these by compare the views of epistemology from Locke and Confucius. From that we may find the answer.  相似文献

In this paper, two new concepts—“main out-of-step mode” and “minor out-of-step mode”—are proposed for power system reliability analysis. Large-scale power system studies found that out-of-step generator groups may have characteristics of the main out-of-step mode and the minor out-of-step mode. The generator groups with main out-of-step modes can determine the out-of-step interface of the large-scale power system, while generators with the minor out-of-step modes cannot play such a role. Therefore, the method of capturing the out-of-step interface by seeking the lowest voltage point(the out-of-step center) can only group the generators with the main out-of-step modes, and may fail to combine the generators with the minor out-of-step modes into proper coherent generator groups. Thus,it is necessary in engineering applications to equip the generators that are likely to have the characteristics of the minor out-of-step modes with separation devices based on off-line simulation studies in order to reduce the risk of further accidents caused by these generators after system separation.  相似文献
