Information Technology as Performance Technology

The articles in. this issue seem to be converging on the concept of the “performance support system”—an integrated electronic job aid designed to support all the performance requirements of a given job or job function. The concept has implications for design of hypertext, other databases, job structure, organization structure, and training needs. The economic (business) case for performance support systems seems to position them as strategic investments, and the developers and managers of the systems will be responsible for the most critical asset of knowledge-based companies.

Concerned Technology

Abstract

In May 1988 UNESCO set up a Regional Seminar ‐‐ ‘New Technologies for Handicapped in Special Education’ ‐‐at the Wenner‐Gren Centre at Sveavagen in Stockholm, Sweden. This short paper reflects initial draft statements on the conference and is included here to identify the extent of common apprehensions and expectations. It covers the areas of information services, studies and research activities, international co‐operation through staff exchanges and conference activities, and looks briefly at future trends.     

On Technology

The basic premise of this paper is that the problem of technology is not a technological one, but one of understanding and vision. The entire Western tradition, in its religious as well as its secular modes, has always admired technique. True, the modern age has increased the mechanization of technology, and more recent technological advances have extended our sensory modes of knowing, tempting us to fall in love with them much as Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection. However, there is nothing necessary in these developments or in the views spawned by them.Technology encompasses the instrumentalities with which we create the made world. The made world, not unlike the natural one manifests Being; it is the unconcealment of reality's potential to be made. It is up to us to understand technology in this way and not as the mere manufacture and use of tools.Education is the main means at our disposal to create a new vision of technology and a new yoga to yoke ourselves to Being. The goal is to learn to see technology as an aniconic symbol of Being.     

Technology 2000

Abstract

This article describes a collaborative university-school district project for improving teaching and learning by using state-of-the-art educational technologies. The work resulted in the simultaneous improvement of P-12 education and teacher education. The article illustrates some of the important outcomes of a project known as Technology 2000, a collaborative effort between a university, a school district, and a business partner. Through using appropriate educational technologies, pre-service teachers, in cooperation with their supervising teachers in five classrooms at two school sites, engaged in the collaborative alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to facilitate student achievement. The participants believe that the outcomes of this educational technology project have important implications for improving teaching and learning in other schools and teacher education settings.     

基于Android的荆楚校园通的实现

为了适应移动互联网的发展,满足高校信息化发展的需求,深入研究了基于Android平台的软件开发技术,充分考虑信息服务系统的扩展和融合,采用混合模式和Http数据传输技术,设计并实现了荆楚校园通系统,包括App客户端和后台管理端。该系统为校园师生提供资讯、问答、各类查询、通讯录等服务。试运行表明,该系统具有较大的适用价值。     

仿真技术在电气控制技术教学中的应用

在许多高职院校的机电一体化、电气自动化等相关专业都开设了"电气控制技术"或与电气控制技术相关的课程。该课程是一门专业实践性要求很高的课程,因此在教学过程中,如能用真实现场实物演示教学,学生易于理解,效果也好,但成本较高。为解决在教学中存在的这些矛盾,我们结合当前仿真技术,以宇龙机电仿真和组态软件为平台提供了一种简便的电气控制技术的仿真教学方案。
