在鲁中地区的临淄,有一座被称为世界历史上第一所大学的＂稷下学宫＂。尽管经过了两千多年的岁月沧桑,但是它在历史长河中曾经的辉煌和灿烂,依然光彩夺目。     

The Games We Play Online and Offline: Making Wang-tta in Korea

This article presents an ethnographic analysis of case studies derived from fieldwork that was designed to consider the different ways Korean game players establish community online and offline. I consider ways Korean youth participate in activities at Korean computer game rooms, which can be thought of as "third places." A synthesis of the Korean concept Wang-tta provides extra insight into the motivations to excel at digital games and one of the strong drivers of such community membership. Korea's gaming society has many unique elements within the interplay of culture, social structure, and infrastructure.

El análisis del movimiento de la Nueva Canción Chilena, de gran popularidad a fines de la década de los 60 y principios de los 70, puede guiarnos hacia la conexión entre temas políticos y culturales, al tiempo que ayuda a aclarar parte de la compleja narrativa de esta época. Por lo menos el enfoque de la política en la cultura, y viceversa, demuestra que esitía un nexo claro entre las ideas políticas y económicas de los líderes de izquierda y de los artistas. En este artículo se hace precisamente el estudio de la narrativa de la Nueva Canción Chilena y su relación estrecha con el movimiento político de izquierda anterior a la elección de Salvador Allende.     

The Rainbow Knapsack Revisited: Being a Gay Teacher in a World of Heterosexual Privilege

Peggy McIntosh published “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack” in 1989. Thirty years later, I revisit McIntosh’s seminal work on White privilege to reframe her discussion to one involving heterosexual privilege, most notably as that privilege affects LGBTQ teachers. I rewrite several of McIntosh’s first-person statements to reflect sexual identity instead of race in order to shed light on the pervasive heteronormativity that has the ability to negatively impact lesbian and gay teachers’ experiences in the workplace.     

Reclaiming Our Roots: The Influences of Media Curriculum on the Natural Hair Movement

This article, theoretically constructed on Gramsci's notion of cultural hegemony, explores the use of Black female hair as a cultural signifier in two media texts, specifically Adrienne Kennedy's play, Funnyhouse of a Negro, and Chris Rock's documentary, Good Hair, in specific media texts. Analysis of the verbal and visual rhetoric regarding a Black female aesthetic revealed associated themes of generational family influences and identity formation.     

Finding Comfort in the Discomfort of Being Multiracial: Lessons from my Schooling

The multiracial population increased by 32% between 2000 and 2010 and represents 9 million people in the United States. The author reflects on her lived experiences of being multiracial but with visibly White skin. She details the lessons she learned about her multiracial identity—from her early positioning as a young student to her role as a teacher of other multiracial students. The article presents the complexities experienced by students with multiracial identities and how their self-conceptions of identity may be complicated when they visually appear to be White.     

Criteria of sociocultural adjustment: The case of the Russian Community in Israel since 1989

This research focuses on criteria for evaluating the success of sociocultural adjustment among immigrants in the target society. The major research objective is to clarify whether the desired outcome of integration as described by immigrants from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and natives (Israelis) reflects the same or different models of sociocultural adjustment. Representative samples of immigrants and long-time Israelis completed a 67-item questionnaire where each item represented a criterion of sociocultural adjustment. These items were organized by factor analysis into 12 spheres of sociocultural adjustment (e.g., psychological, economical, educational, etc.). The immigrants preferred the selected acculturation model of sociocultural adjustment: selective adoption of the target culture while maintaining an affinity to the native one. In comparison, the host Israelis favored an integrative model: general (unselective) adoption of the new culture and preservation of an affinity to the native one.

Let's Make Peace! A Cross-Cultural Analysis of the Effects of Serial Arguing Behaviors in Romantic Relationships: The Case of Malagasy Romantic Partners

This study extends the Western research on serial arguing by replicating that research with a non-American sample: the Malagasy people. Two hundred and twenty-four people were recruited from Madagascar, and from among members of the Malagasy diasporas in France, Québec, and the United States. Consistent with research conducted in the U.S. culture, demand/withdraw conflict behavior was a better predictor of relational outcomes than attempts at reconciliation or the frequency of serial arguing. The study highlighted within-cultural differences. The frequency of serial arguing was positively correlated with vertical individualism and vertical collectivism but negatively correlated with horizontal individualism.
