The Singapore School and the School Excellence Model

Nation', schools in Singapore are now asked to develop themselves into excellent schools. To support this change, the way that schools are being appraised has been changed since 2000. The school today is asked to do self-appraisal using the new School Excellence Model (SEM), which is adapted from a business excellence model. This article discusses the SEM, its major implications to the leadership and management of schools in Singapore and the areas still to be addressed in the implementation of the model. In particular, school leaders should focus on the substance and not the form of the SEM, be systemic in their approach to quality improvement in schools and truly lead the way by being the first believing and practicing member of this movement. 对高校职业指导工作开展的几点思考

在就业形势日益严峻的今天,加强和完善高校职业指导工作对全面推进人才培养模式改革具有重要意义。本文通过对当前高职院校职业指导工作现状进行深入地分析,提出关于教育职能、队伍专业化建设、基础服务、实践教育等方面的思考和建议。     

日本的生计教育

1999年,日本政府开始面向各级各类学校实施新一轮的生计教育改革。具体措施包括:整合和增加课程内容,帮助学生制定职业规划,开展多样的职业支持活动,使产学合作成为正规科目,等等。我们可以从日本生计教育中得到启示,吸取经验。     

The development of career guidance and counseling in Taiwan

This paper presents a report on the development of career guidance and counseling services in Taiwan, Republic of China. Based on extensive interviews in 1983 and 1987 with leaders in public and private education, government agencies, and faculty and students in junior colleges and universities, the services currently provided are described as they interface with the educational system. Certain issues emerged from the research which may affect the further development of counseling services in Taiwan; guidelines are offered for addressing these. The issues discussed are: the stigma against counseling; the general resistance to change and the traditionalism of the educational system; the potential conflict between serving national labor needs and developing individual human potential; the stress produced by the educational system itself; the traditional emphasis on testing in schools and colleges; the need to professionalize counselors; and the judicious integration of western perspectives into an indigenous Chinese philosophy of counseling and guidance.     

浅谈大学生创业教育视角下的就业指导课程改革

创业教育是培养大学生创业能力与综合素质的教育,积极开展创业教育是适应就业形势的变化和就业制度改革深化的必然要求。就业指导课作为目前开展创业教育的主渠道,还存在着课程设置不够合理、师资不够完善等问题。本文从目前存在的问题出发,提出强化创业教育、完善就业指导课程设计的相关措施。     

Contextual career education for urban youth: A new look at experience based career education

This article describes a model career education program for urban youth. The program exemplified promising practices in career education by providing all career education experiences in the context of real life experiences. Work site supervisors' ratings of youths' initiative and responsibility significantly increased over the course of the seven week program.     

试论个性化的就业指导

本文通过对职业指导“特性-因素”理论的借鉴与解读,结合实践阐述大学生就业指导应该：充分尊重学生个性,为其独特的职业发展需求提供帮助;启发学生认识自身潜能,根据自己的人生指标进行职业设计：鼓励学生热情追求职业理想,启发他们培养实现职业理想的理性思考和实力,在职业的选择与发展中成为自我认知、自我实现及自觉有用的人。     

Raising the profile of career guidance: educational and vocational guidance practitioner

In 2007 the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG) launched the Educational and Vocational Guidance Practitioner credential (EVGP) as one means of formally acknowledging the knowledge, skills, and personal attributes that practitioners need in order to provide quality career development services to clients. This paper describes the foundational background to this initiative and some of the implications for training career practitioners and delivering career services.
