During the last twenty years, increasing emphasis has been placed upon the provision of comprehensive vocational assessment to disabled and disadvantaged persons to assist them in obtaining employment. Vocational evaluation programs have proliferated in rehabilitation facilities, manpower programs, vocational-technical schools and public schools. An increasing body of literature and research has delineated service-delivery models and competencies needed by vocational evaluation specialists. Increasing numbers of universities have implemented graduate training programs in vocational evaluation; and a national professional certification process has been developed. Most of this activity has been centered at rehabilitation facilities at the same time that public schools are becoming the norm for educating disabled students. As vocational assessment for disabled students moves into this relatively new setting, it is being modified. This article explores models of vocational assessment for disabled students which incorporate modifications to suit the special needs of the public school setting.  相似文献

A systems approach to modifying existing vocational curricula to meet the needs of handicapped learners is presented. The roles of both special and vocational educators at each level of the modification process are discussed, together with the process as it is applied to a component of agricultural education. A significant amount of instructional technology is necessary to successfully integrate many handicapped learners into the regular vocational education environment: vocational education for handicapped persons needs to move from the stage of awareness to that of implementation.  相似文献

Higher education institutions are ever more interested in the development of tools that enable them to evaluate and manage the expectations of their students with the purpose of attracting and keeping them satisfied. This research compares what the faculty believes the students expect from a higher education institution with the expectations of students entering higher education. A quantitative study was performed with students from a higher education institution through the application of a questionnaire covering 32 different expectations. The perceptions of the faculty were also collected through the same questionnaire, suitably adapted. The results of the investigation demonstrated differences in thinking between students and professors, with 19 variables representing student expectations that showed statistically significant mean differences. In 13 variables the students had greater expectations than the faculty believed, while for six variables the faculty indicated higher expectations than the students declared. Identifying the existence of this gap in knowledge will allow the higher education institution to adjust its services to the expectations of students, leading them to greater satisfaction.  相似文献

Abstract

Clinical supervision is a formative evaluation method of working with teachers for the purpose of improving instruction. This teacher‐centered, collegial, and collaborative model requires the establishment of rapport and trust and a proper climate. Personal observation and a review of current related literature emphasize that clinical supervision enables teachers and supervisors to grow while promoting excellence in teaching and learning. In this period of school reform, clinical supervision is a successful means of approaching teacher learning, professional growth, and instructional improvement.  相似文献

This article is based on a study undertaken as an extension of our Phones for the Deaf programme. In the original programme, PC computers, linked by modems and null-modems, have been used very successfully as a means of communication between hearing-impaired persons and their hearing peers. In this study, the use of cable-linked computers has been extended into the classroom to provide an extremely effective note-taking system. This use of computer technology has proved to be both more efficient and at the same time far less intrusive than the conventional note-taker or signing systems. It provides at the same time complete participation within the class for the student and a hard-copy of the proceedings for later study.  相似文献
