正杨振宁、李政道这两位华人获取诺贝尔奖的开启者,后来虽反目成仇,闹得不可开交,但他们在一个人面前不得不"相逢一笑",并争取获得他的理解、谅解甚至支持,这个人就是他们的老师吴大猷。当年,他们获得诺贝尔物理学奖时,不约而同向吴大猷发去感谢信。1957年10月31日,杨振宁接到获奖电话,当即致函吴大猷说:值此十分兴奋,也是该深深自我反省的时候,我要向您     

春风CSSCI

艺术家不仅仅是奉献几件作品,我认为更重要的是应该奉献出生命的质量和他对世界的态度。他的日常,他看见的世界,他思想的火花都应该有存放之处。艺术的本质是表达,不是为了涂了张好看的纸。我冲动时画画,安静时也画画,不同的状态出不同的东西。冲动的时候表达思想,安静的时候我向别人学习。可以为了观念创作,也可以无有目的自由地抒发,我的兴趣,我的热爱,时时感受自己的真实被保存下来。     

梦幻春风

日谁？用美丽的裙摆拂过冬日的旷野;是谁？用温柔的手指抚摸河水的脸庞。在冰雪天,在冻土地,是谁,如花季少女般歹旺微笑着向我们飘然而来,而后又无影无踪？看不清那清纯的面容,但却看见,大地绿意渐浓,万物似在苏醒,春天,似乎来了!据说,那是春风,那是春的使者,是怜爱万物的慈爱精灵,是依恋山川的多情山魂!一如大年初一拜年的亲友,用一个笑容,一句问候,向我们带来春之声。是的,那就是春风,踏着冰雪而来,把苦熬寒夜的昆虫轻轻唤醒,把树丫的冰凌悄悄摘除,把绿叶和花朵挂上枝头。     

匾额春风

常州市档案馆珍藏着曾三同志题匾“常州市档案馆”的珍贵手迹。提起题写经过,八十高龄的前常州市档案局局长谢东升仍记忆犹新——1976年常州市档案馆新馆正式落成。钢筋混凝土砖结构,地上3层,地下2层,总面积1968平方米。先后在12个库房安装了470平方米密集架,增加了库房存放档案的容量。独立大楼,独立库房,较好的保管条件,当时在整个沪宁线上也是一流档案馆,各地参观者络绎不绝。国家档案局专程组织人员到常州作调研并给予了肯定。记得是八十年代初,常州市局馆的几位领导向国家档案局的丁文进同志表达了想请关心江苏及常州档案工作的国家档…     

春风碎

冬谢幕,春上场,行经处,星星点点,生机怡然,一派春光。空气软了,甜了,轻轻浅浅,迷离的颜色,缠绕的芬芳,悠悠飘浮。风拂过脸颊,微动发丝,含着微笑的试探与触碰,细细的柔柔的,似有若无,不着痕迹,叫人惊喜,张望,留连。春色美,春意醉,春风碎。

清华学霸沈崇诲血洒长空耀中华

前段时间,一部反映清华学子在各个历史时期为理想而奋斗的影片《无问西东》广受好评.其中,王力宏饰演的沈光耀是清华大学的一名超级学霸.在民族存亡之际,他毅然投笔从戎,慷慨赴死,用自己壮丽的青春人生践行了清华校歌“立德立言,无问西东”这句歌词所蕴含的理念.沈光耀的原型就是抗日烈士沈崇诲.     

春风催发展

4月8日-10日,香山饭店,由中国出版科学研究所主办的“第三届中国民营书业高级论坛”在热烈举办。柳枝吐翠,玉兰含香,150多位与会代表在明媚的春光中听取最新政策,讨论发展机遇,交流成长烦恼,谋取更大发展。“民营书业发展的机遇来了,”总署发行司司长刘波发言时透露三大正在争取的利好政策。针对民营书业从业人员关心的一些热点问题,如2005教材发行改革实施细则,民营书业融资难,税收负担沉重等方面问题,论坛邀请了几方面主管领导进行政策解读。会上全国工商联书业商会,中发协非国有委员会,社科文艺发行联合体,教辅发行联合体等行业组织也都派代表做了发言,表达了愿意为行业发展发挥作用的心愿和今年将采取的一些具体举措。4月9日晚举行的圆桌恳谈会上,民营书业代表与总署,国务院发展研究中心等部门主管领导进行了面对面的交流,心与心的沟通,现场气氛活跃。     

Remote Shelving Comes of Age

For many research libraries, remote storage of collections is commonplace and an inevitable strategy for handling collection growth. Despite the prevalence of storage collections, little documentation of collection management strategies vis à vis storage exists in the literature. The processes employed at the University of Michigan Library for collection transfers are described, including an analysis of collection use data to develop criteria for storage. In addition, collection management issues which arise as storage collections mature are identified and questions for future storage programs raised.     

What to Do Until the Expert Comes:

Students can be encouraged to work on multicultural and international topics in a small library (under 150,000 volumes) in spite of unhelpful subject headings and collections weak in resources directed to these issues. Tested methods include relearning the collections, using the world at large as a resource, restructuring assignments and topics, and developing new search strategies and using available materials in new ways to make maximum use of what is hidden in the collection.

There's No Place Like Home

This narrative analysis explores the juxtaposition of local crime news in Omaha, Nebraska with coverage of local troops embedded in Afghanistan in April 2011. It argues that narrative devices such as scene-setting, characterization, sourcing, and the use of dramatic elements constructed violence abroad as heroic and expected, but disruptive and dangerous at home; these contrasts worked to sustain a dominant ideology of institutional superiority.     

When Faculty Behave Like Students

ABSTRACT

Each semester, the instructional designers at the University of Central Florida facilitate an innovative course for faculty only. IDL 6543 is an eight-week professional development course that prepares faculty to teach online.

IDL 6543 models how to teach online using a combination of seminars, labs, consultations, and Web-based instruction. A librarian was typically invited to a lab session to present information about the library's online resources. Because there was so much information, this portion of the course was migrated to the online environment in the fall semester of 2004. The in-person presentation was transformed into an online learning module for the faculty to read and participate in at their own pace.

This poster session will address collaborating with instructional designers, creating an online module of library information aimed at teaching faculty, moderating a faculty discussion of library resources, and comparing the in-person training session with an online module.     

Your Worries Ain't Like Mine:

The persistence of systemic and individual racism both within society and higher education influences the behavior and attitudes of librarians of color and their white colleagues. Racism, prejudice and discrimination in academe often have a direct impact on the recruitment and retention of African American librarians and other librarians of color. Issues of job satisfaction and initiatives for constructing an environment conducive to racial and ethnic inclusion within academe are addressed.
