This commentary reviews the distinctions researchers make in defining metacognition, self-regulation, and self-regulated learning
along with the methods used to explore these constructs. Bandura’s notion of reciprocal determinism (1977) is revisited in the context of situated learning, whereby interactions between the person, behavior, and environment take
on new meaning when examining learning and affect in specific contexts where knowledge is constructed through interacting
with all that the environment affords, be that material or human. The interaction between the mind and environment continues
to be an interesting question with regard to these three constructs, and this interaction can be explored by using computers
as cognitive tools. Technology-rich environments are described that provide opportunities for assessing and validating metacognition,
self-regulation, and self-regulated learning with future directions for assessing co-regulation of teams of learners. 相似文献

This paper approaches"A Rose for Emily"from the psychoanalytic perspective and tries to explore the proper and intelligible psychological motives for Emily's abnormal behavior.Emily, instead of being a morbid character either provoking pity or disgust in readers,is in essence a woman who suffers from an undeveloped identity, torturing insecurity and loneliness for all her life. 相似文献

Schools of social work have begun to explore teaching evidence-based practice (EBP) across their curriculum. Although the current literature offers ideas on how to incorporate EBP in foundation research and practice courses, the literature seems nonexistent on how to teach EBP in an advanced research sequence, which could clearly address the widespread criticism that research courses are unsuccessful in making the practice–research link more apparent. This article describes the transition of one school from a “producing research” curriculum focus to an EBP focus, which embraces consuming research. In the present article, the authors discuss the benefits and struggles associated with these two different approaches. 相似文献

Amidst the considerable literature published on institutional change in undergraduate teaching and learning, an article co-authored by Robert Barr and John Tagg in 1995 stands out. The authors offered a vision and —perhaps most importantly—gave it a memorable name, the Learning Paradigm. From Teaching to Learning—A New Paradigm for Undergraduate Education is the most frequently cited article in the history of Change. In this article, Barr blended his voice with colleagues who helped initiate Learning Paradigm programs at a public university and in a liberal arts college setting. Through multiple forms of inquiry, including discourse and metaphor analysis, they interpreted the shift from teaching to learning and speculate about its future. 相似文献

Prepositions"in,on,at"can be used as spatial prepositions as well as temporal prepositions. The temporal usages of "in,on,at"vary from each other in indicating different concepts of time.ESL students are often confused with the usages of temporal prepositions. This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of usages of"in,on,at",aiming at distinguishing their befuddling usage principles and exploring the priority when their temporal usage principles are confronted with each other. 相似文献

ABSTRACT This study addresses the issue of educational inadequacy and inequity for disadvantaged minority students. It estimates desired national standards and examines interrelated gaps in key school–teacher resources and mathematics achievement by linking national education data sets (National Assessment of Educational Progress [NAEP], Common Core of Data, and Schools and Staffing Survey). Although poor minority students’ chances to meet the national mathematics proficiency standard are undermined by the lack of their access to qualified teachers and adequate school funding, it turns out that the adequacy-based (absolute) gaps are much larger than the equity-based (relative) gaps. Meeting the NAEP Grade 8 mathematics proficiency standard requires substantial increases in per-pupil education spending (from $6,493 to $7,197 in year 2000 dollars) and in-field mathematics teaching rate (from 49% to 91%) across the nation. Research and policy implications are discussed. 相似文献

Students who are disabled are under-represented in higher education. One reason for this may be that education is not covered by the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) and disability statements to government made by individual institutions are more for information than an expression of mission or committed action. The growing empowerment of disabled people themselves has radically shifted thinking about the disabled in society and in this paper student views on provision in one large UK University are collected. Questionnaire and interview data highlight the existing shortcomings in terms of physical access but also in terms of disability awareness among those whose job it is to provide effective university education for all. The findings are broadly in line with researches elsewhere. The paper urges that further research be undertaken and that all universities urgently examine their own situation. 相似文献

As a teacher deals with the frustrations of classroom management and her fears concerning control, she finds what it means to let go to the process of living and learning with young children. Her method of dealing with issues of classroom community involves teacher reflection on action, listening to stories of children, and telling stories of her own. 相似文献

William Faulkner, the Nobel Prize winner for literature in 1950, is one of the most famous American writers. In "A Rose for Emily", he boldly uses the symbolism writing technique. Emily’s tragedy reveals the conflicts and contradictions between the old and new social concepts and values. With the help of symbolism, William Faulkner thoroughly and deeply portrays the southern American’s spiritual crisis during the historic reform in terms of artistic writing style and unique thoughts. 相似文献
