Faculties of Education in Traditional Universities and Universities of the Third Age: A Partnership Model in Gerontagogy

This article discusses “Universities of the Third Age”, whose function is quite distinct from established universities' traditional role in teaching, research, and community services. Consequently, there is an urgent need to develop a model of partnership between traditional universities and Universities of the Third Age, ensuring better training for educators working with senior citizens. Determining the roles of teachers, supervisors, and students will facilitate greater cooperation, and allow for a linkage of Universities of the Third Age (U3A) with traditional faculties of education, as well as further refinement of the theoretical and practical professional training of future educators of older people.     

Education and Older Adults at the University of the Third Age

This article reports a critical analysis of older adult education in Malta. In educational gerontology, a critical perspective demands the exposure of how relations of power and inequality, in their myriad forms, combinations, and complexities, are manifest in late-life learning initiatives. Fieldwork conducted at the University of the Third Age (UTA) in Malta uncovered the political nature of elder-learning, especially with respect to three intersecting lines of unequality—namely, positive aging, elitism, and gender. A cautionary note is, therefore, warranted at the dominant positive interpretations of UTAs since late-life learning, as any other education activity, is not politically neutral.

The Quality Challenge for Universities: A View from Spain

Universities are centuries-old institutions that inrecent times have undergone important changes as aresult of the expansion of the system of highereducation, the diversification of social demands onthe university, and the increase in public spending onhigher education. In this new context, universitieshave the opportunity to show their capacity foradaptability and their social and intellectualleadership, reacting to the new situation in acreative manner. But to do this they must accept thequality challenge, that is, the responsibilityfor showing that they can do things right and meetsociety's demands with the highest levels of qualityand efficiency. This paper presents how thischallenge must be approached in Spanishuniversities.

互联网时代老年大学供给侧改革方向与路径

以互联网为核心的信息技术推动了老年终身学习内涵与学习方式的转变,为老年大学的供给服务带来了机遇与挑战.针对当前我国老年大学在供给单元、供给方式、供给内容和供给主体四个方面存在的问题,借鉴国际第三年龄大学的发展经验,提出互联网时代老年大学供给侧改革的建议,在制度层依托终身学习资历框架,融合不同教育类型;在策略层开展混合式教学,联通知识网络和社会关系网络;在基础层设计老年友好环境,提供个性化学习支持服务.     

我国老年大学发展初探

我国老年大学发展历程虽然短暂,但二十多年来所取得的成绩令人鼓舞与欣慰。作者对我国老年大学的发展情况进行了初步了解,归纳了其在发展过程中的成就与问题,最后对其发展策略提出几点见解,并从宏观的角度对其发展前景进行展望。     

The Cuban Model for Higher Education of Older Adults: Generativity,Social Commitment,and Collaborative Work

The present work is an approach to study the Cuban model for educating the elderly, and its aim is to describe the main features of the experience developed by this country. The University of the Third Age is more than three decades old in Latin America, but none of the countries in the region can show a state educational policy regulating and orienting its development. Cuba is the only country that has designed an educational program for older adults at a national level. The model is the most outstanding one among the rest of the countries in the American continent. This research is based on documentary analysis and interviews held with leaders and managers of the Chair for Older Adults, who were located in different towns of Cuba. Results led to a reconstruction of a set of dimensions of the Cuban model, such as the process of institutionalization, syllabus organization, the process of expansion and universalization, and educators' training strategies for elders. Finally, bearing in mind the features of Cuban political organization and gerontological positions, it was possible to draw the future evolution and challenges faced by the Cuban model for educating older adults.

民族院校是中国共产党根据解决国内民族问题的需要而创办的一种特殊类型的高等院校,其合法性来源于意识形态基础,制度基础和有效性基础.在新的历史时期,民族院校的合法性面临着新的问题,应通过完善民族院校制度、增强办学的有效性和推进党的民族理论创新,重塑民族院校的合法性,使民族院校赢得社会的广泛信任和支持.     

U(3)群与SU(3)规范不变性

给出U(3)群与SU(3)群的定义及关系,强子按味SU(3)群的不可约表示(多重态)分类,准确地预言了一些新的粒子,说明了强子的自旋、宇称、电荷、奇异数及质量等一系列性质的规律性.强子遵从相应的费米和波色统计,每一种夸克含有内部空间自由度,不同色夸克之间的强相互作用是通过传递带色的胶子而发生.而这一物理过程也需要用SU(3)群来描写.揭示了SU(3)对称性在强子结构研究中的重要性,关于SU(3)对称性的分析,对未知规律的探索有一定的参考价值.     

创客时代的美国大学:挑战与应对

美国《制造》杂志和“创客嘉年华”的创办推动了创客文化的传播和创客队伍的壮大.美国制造业的转型、创客运动的开启和创客教育的催生使美国步入创客时代.2016年,奥巴马政府的“创客国家计划”提出促进创客创业与就业,培养创客型人才,解决社会中最紧迫的问题.为此,美国高校创客联盟承诺通过开放创客空间、培养少年创客、促进创客创业、服务社会生活、辐射区域经济和密切合作关系六个方面积极推动创客教育,目前已取得阶段性进展和成果.未来,美国大学创客教育的发展将着重于兼顾创客教育公平问题、支持以创客为中心的学习、助力创客走向创业,以及拓展创客生态服务系统.     

French Universities and the Challenge of Modernization

In May 1968 an explosion shook the French university system to its foundations, triggering a general strike and the gravest constitutional crisis of the Fifth Republic. The student unrest that preceded the May revolt, as well as the government reform of the universities that followed, are dramatic expressions of the theme of this conference. Democratization of student and faculty recruitment generated irresistible pressure upon the traditional structures of the French university, which had been designed to handle the training of a fairly small elite. Something had to give - either the elite structures had to be democratized or the democratic pressures had to be contained. After the explosion, the Gaullist government, under the guidance of Education Minister Edgar Faure, opted for a sweeping democratization from above - with results that are far from those originally intended. The reform engineered by Faure ushered in many changes in the French universities; but to an amazing extent the old structures and practices have survived, and what has changed is not what the Gaullists had in mind. Let us first try to view the recent unrest and reform in a larger historical perspective.

全球化时代的大学同构:亚洲大学的挑战

全球化是大学变革的重要推动力。一方面,全球化会导致各个国家做出同样的反应,从而使各国大学组织趋于相似。另一方面,全球化时代的大学变革依然呈现出地域差异,民族国家的制度环境在塑造大学组织形态方面发挥重要作用。亚洲三所精英理工大学的变革既体现了普适大学模式在全球扩散中导致的制度同构,又体现了大学的新思想、新原则、新实践与地方经验的结合导致的制度转化。大学变革很少是从废除旧制度开始,常常是把旧制度与新理念结合,创造出一种既区别于过去的实践又与过去的实践强烈相似的新制度。
