电子资源使用统计的现状分析

电子资源的使用统计是对电子资源进行评价的主要依据。目前电子资源的使用统计主要由数据库服务商来提供。论文分析了数据库服务商所提供的使用统计的现状和问题,剖析了造成这些问题的原因,最后针对这些问题提出了图书馆的应对策略。     

JUSP in time: a partnership approach to developing a journal usage statistics portal

The Journal Usage Statistics Portal (JUSP) service is expanding rapidly, and aims to encompass all NESLi2‐participating publishers by the end of 2011, together with all UK higher‐education institutions subscribing to deals from those publishers. A key part of the success of JUSP will be the implementation of the Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) protocol for automatic harvesting of usage statistics directly from publishers. This article outlines development of the service and describes how JUSP is working with Oxford University Press to deliver usage statistics to libraries. We also describe future developments at JUSP, including the creation of our own SUSHI server, and explain how new initiatives and enhancements are developed and rolled out in conjunction with our participating institutions.     

我国高校图书馆网站建设现状研究 ——基于对学生用户使用评价的调查

以一次全国性问卷调查为基础,从网站设计、网站内容、网站功能三个角度对高校学生用户使用本校图书馆网站的现状及满意度评价进行调查分析,并在此基础上从网站营销、文辞运用、导引设计、数据库建设、检索技能培训、在线咨询、馆藏书目查询系统宣传等方面提出完善我国高校图书馆网站建设的建议。     

PIRUS2: individual article usage statistics — developing a practical,global standard

The most granular level at which COUNTER currently requires reporting of usage is for the individual journal. A number of developments have, however, meant that it is now practical to investigate the development of a COUNTER standard for the recording, reporting, and consolidation of usage statistics at the individual article level. The aim of PIRUS2 (Publisher and Institutional Repository Usage Statistics 2) was to take forward the outcomes of the original PIRUS project and build on its recommendations, by developing a prototype service (including technical, organizational, and economic models) that will enable publishers, repositories, and other organizations to generate and share authoritative, trustworthy usage statistics for the individual articles and other items that they host. The PIRUS2 project was completed in June 2011. This article covers the aims, objectives, outputs and recommendations of the project.     

集美大学图书馆外文数据库利用情况的调查分析

采取问卷调查方式,通过对集美大学师生使用本校图书馆购买的IEEE/IEEElectronicLibrary(简称IEL)、Springer、KluwerOnline、EiVillage、BPONOVID、CSA、EBSCO等外文数据库情况进行分析,包括师生使用反馈情况、数据库商反馈本校总下载量、本校外文数据库使用情况及购买费用比较等,以此为依据对以上数据库进行评估。     

影响科技期刊影响因子的期刊因素分析与思考 ——以SCI收录的眼科类期刊为例

统计了SCI收录的16种眼科类高影响因子期刊2007—2011年影响因子的变化,通过分析16种眼科期刊2005—2010年办刊策略的变化,从办刊策略层面寻找影响期刊影响因子的相关因素。研究发现,期刊影响力、栏目设置、期刊载文量、网站建设和出版周期等是影响期刊影响因子的重要因素。     

图书馆联盟数字资源使用统计研究——以JUSP为例

[目的/意义]数字资源使用统计为图书馆联盟评估资源使用效益提供数据支撑,也是图书馆集团采购分级定价的重要衡量指标,其横向对比数据能够使成员馆优化其订购决策。以JUSP为案例分析英国JISC Collections采购联盟提供的使用统计服务,以期为其他图书馆联盟开展使用统计服务提供参考与借鉴。[方法/过程]采用文献综述与在线调查对国内外图书馆采购联盟的数字资源使用统计应用现状进行分析,以英国期刊使用统计门户JUSP为案例,介绍其背景、发展历程,探究其在数据收集、数据提供及数据维护等使用统计服务方面的探索与实践。[结果/结论]JUSP的成功为联盟开展数字资源使用统计服务提供诸多启示,图书馆联盟应重视用户的使用统计需求、采取合作方式开发一站式使用统计平台、遵循相关标准与规范、重视社区参与。     

电子资源使用统计平台USSER的设计与实现

[目的/意义] 研究应用电子资源使用统计平台有效地分析与利用COUNTER使用统计数据。[方法/过程] 通过文献综述法,研究国内外电子资源使用统计现状及COUNTER使用统计标准。以案例分析法,详细介绍深圳大学图书馆基于COUNTER使用统计数据研发的电子资源使用统计平台USSER的系统设计思路和实现,包括平台设计方案、统计数据类型、使用统计数据的收集、报表的呈现、使用统计数据分析与应用。[结果/结论] USSER可以从多个不同信息来源收集与整合COUNTER格式的报告,通过SUSHI协议自动收割统计数据,并生成各种统计报表。深入分析USSER统计报表,可帮助图书馆改善及提高电子资源服务水平。未来将从构建电子资源使用统计门户、实现全部电子资源使用统计数据的管理、进一步推进SUSHI的应用、丰富数据报表等方面完善USSER的功能。电子资源使用统计平台对于图书馆具有重要的应用价值。     

Making Sense of your Usage Statistics

Usage statistics are a key decision making tool for most librarians. In this tactics session, Bob Schufreider showed how some libraries are using their vendor's usage statistics to inform purchase decisions and justify expenses, discussed the latest technologies and standards designed to make collection and integration of these statistics less time-consuming and more effective, and outlined some of the problems and pitfalls encountered with the collection of usage statistics.

An urban, academic health sciences library with four campuses serves a university health sciences system, a college of medicine, and five other health sciences colleges.

Methods

Usage statistics of each e-book title in the resource were carefully analyzed. Purchase decisions were made based on the assessment of usage.

Results

Sustainable resources were acquired from other vendors, with perpetual access for library users.

Conclusion

This systematic process of finding alternative resources is an example of librarians'' persistence in acquiring perpetual electronic resources when a major resource is cancelled.     

Implementing SUSHI and COUNTER: A Primer for Librarians

Project Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources (COUNTER) released its first code of practice in 2002. Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) was introduced in 2007 as a way of automating the harvesting of COUNTER reports. Both initiatives have been well adopted yet there is still confusion about how to implement SUSHI. This column offers a primer for library staff wanting to take advantage of the benefits of SUSHI. It starts with a quick review of both COUNTER and SUSHI, then covers options for SUSHI clients, examines SUSHI configuration requirements, demonstrates how to use SUSHI to obtain a COUNTER report and shows an example of working with a COUNTER Journal Reports in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format to create a spreadsheet with a simple cost-per-use and package analysis. By the end the reader should gain enough knowledge to configure a SUSHI client, successfully harvest COUNTER statistics and to perform some basic analysis on that usage.     

The American Community Survey: An introduction to the basics

The Bureau of the Census initiated the American Community Survey (ACS) in 2005. It will revolutionize the use of census data by providing annual updates to statistics that in the past were collected only every 10 years. Statistics will be published for areas of 65,000 people or more every year. The Bureau of the Census will distribute data for areas of between 20,000 and 64,999 in "3-year period averages." The first 3 year average will appear in 2008 covering 2005–2007. Subsequent data will be issued annually for the following three year periods. (e.g., 2006–2008, 2007–2009) Statistics for areas smaller than 19,999 will be published in 5-year period averages, the first to be published in 2010 covering 2005–2009. Subsequent data to be issued annually will cover 2006–2010, 2007–20011, … This paper provides background information about ACS, similarities and differences between it and the decennial census, the interpretation of statistics based upon period averages, relationships among ACS and other Bureau of the Census Surveys, and the expected future of the survey.

SUSHI（The Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative Protocol,标准化的电子资源使用统计获取协议）是基于WEB服务的SOAP（Simple Object Access Protocol）协议,为获取网络电子资源的用户使用统计报告提供自动化的数据交换方法。论文从基础、技术内涵和实际应用等方面对SUSHI进行了深入分析。     

Librarians' use of usage statistics for journals and e‐books

In September 2010 MPS Limited undertook a short survey of librarians, addressing their use of usage statistics. Over 300 librarians responded. This article covers the findings. 97% of the librarians surveyed use usage statistics in some way. As would be expected, they find COUNTER‐compliant usage statistics invaluable and place their importance above non‐COUNTER‐compliant usage data. They also rely on this information as a major part of the decision‐making process when it comes to purchase and cancellation decisions.     

Can Money Buy Happiness? A Statistical Analysis of Predictors for User Satisfaction

2007 data from LibQUAL+™ and the ACRL Library Trends and Statistics database were analyzed to determine if there is a statistically significant correlation between library expenditures and usage statistics and library patron satisfaction across 73 universities. The results show that users of larger, better funded libraries have higher expectations for information resource availability, but not higher satisfaction scores. Furthermore, the data show no significant correlation between library usage statistics and user satisfaction. The researchers conclude that the lack of expected correlations could be attributed to limitations in the LibQUAL+™ method of measuring patron satisfaction, or the difficulty of using the quantitative measurements found in ACRL statistics to try and accurately predict user satisfaction.

Introduction to Usus,a Community Website on Library Usage,and a Discussion about COUNTER 4

Established in 2014, Usus (Latin for usage), supported by Counting Online Usage of NeTworked Electronic Resources (COUNTER), but editorially independent, is a community-run website designed to provide a space for librarians, consortia, publishers, aggregators, repository managers, and scholars to discuss all aspects of usage, including particular ways that use is measured. In this session, Usus Supervisory Board members provided an introduction to Usus, outlined the purpose of the community-run site, and discussed how librarians may utilize the site to submit ongoing and complex usage issues. In addition, the presenters engaged attendees in discussing specific e-resource usage issues they have encountered as well as report changes and additions in the recently released COUNTER Code of Practice 4.
