As probably the most misread writer of the 20th century, D. H. Lawrence was not only a great novelist, but also a great poet, who should have shared the same importance as W. B. Yeats and T. S. Eliot."Bavarian Gentians"is one of his masterpieces, which was written in the last few months of his life along with some other poems on death, heaven and hell, including The Ship of Death, Glory of Darkness and Song of Death. The mythological poem, a bit mystic and surreal, embodies the view of Lawrence on death. This paper is trying to give a brief analysis on the images and theme of the poem.

What is the best thing in life? In my view, the best thing consists1 of happiness, health, love and friendship. These are things important to one. 　Happiness is the good feeling one has to life and to work and study. If one is happy, that is the most desirable2 thing in the world. 　Health is equally3 important to us. One who is ill all the time can not be happy. With a healthy body, one can do things he likes. 　Love and friendship are the feelings one has towards parents, teachers and friends. Influence of learning techniques on information processing

The present study establishes the fact that effective information processing is dependent on the learning techniques one adopts. A sample of 100 students in the age group from 13 to 17 including boys and girls were chosen. They were divided into two groups of control and experimental. To the experimental group, certain specific learning techniques were taught for a period of six months. The same group was tested taking blood samples to study the neuro transmitter serotonin levelshenme before and after adopting learning techniques. Results of the study proved that there is significant relationship between learning techniques and the information processing ability of an individual.

Principle of Coordinates Acquisition Based on Single Camera

The principle and accuracy of 3-D coordinates acquistition using one single camera and the Aided Measuring Probe(AMP0are discussed in this paper,Using one single camera and one AMP which has several embedded targets and one tip with known coordinates.the single camera‘s orientation and location can be calculated.After orientation.the global coordinate system is obtained.During measurement.the camera is fixed firstly.then the AMP is held and the feature point is touched.The camera is triggered lastly.The position and orientation of the AMP are therefore calculated from the size and position of its image on the sensor.Since the tip point of AMP has known relation with the embedded targets.the feature point can be measured.Tests show that the accuracy of length measurement is 0.2 mm and accuracy for flatness measurement in XSY-plane is 0.1mm.

Amniotic membrane transplantation for porous sphere orbital implant exposure

Objective： This study is aimed at describing the clinical outcome of amniotic membrane transplantation for exposure of porous sphere implants. Methods： A retrospective review of consecutive cases of porous sphere orbital implant exposure was carried out. Eight cases were presented between May 2004 and Oct. 2006 （5 males, 3 females; mean age 44.5 years）. Six had enucleation and two had evisceration. Exposure occurred in two primary and six secondary. Orbital implant diameter was 22 mm in seven cases and 20 mm in one case. Six patients are with hydroxyapatite and two with high-density porous polyethylene （Medpor） orbital implants. The mean time from implantation to exposure was 1.1 months （range 0.8-2 months）. All patients required surgical intervention. Results： The time of follow-up ranged from 3.0 to 28.0 months （mean 16.5 months）. Amniotic membrane grafting successfully closed the defect without re-exposure in all of these patients. The grafts were left bare with a mean time to conjunctiva of about 1 month （range 0.8-1.5 months）. Conclusion： Exposed porous sphere implants were treated successfully with amniotic membrane graft in all of patients. The graft is easy to harvest. This technique is useful, dose not lead to prolonged socket inflammation and infection, and it is valuable application extensively.

Successful immunological treatment of gallbladder cancer in India Case report

Gallbladder cancer has a poor outcome because of its anatomy and location. Often, the diagnosis is made very late due to its silent course. Post-operated cases do respond to chemotherapy but the survival is counted in months and the quality of life is further hampered due to toxicity of drugs. Immunotherapy holds good promise in non-responding cancers treated by conventional chemotherapeutic agents. Among various therapies, dendritic cell therapy is growing at rapid pace due to its acceptable rationale. It has been utilized in treating successfully resected stage Ill （T2, N1, M0） gallbladder cancer in one of our patients. A 48 years old lady treated with this therapy is free of metastasis with ten doses of autologous dendritic cell vaccine constructed by utilizing resected tumor lysate antigen. She has received ten doses of therapy in 14 months of her treatment. This therapy has proven to be safe and without apparent side effects. The positive clinical response obtained supports that autologous dendritic cell-based immunotherapy is a promising therapeutic approach for refractory gallbladder cancers.

Deep-hole inner diameter measuring system based on non-contact capacitance sensor

A precise aperture measuring system of small deep holes with capacitance sensors is presented. Based on the working principle of non-contact capacitance sensors, influence of the edge effect of gauge head is studied, and one capacitance sensor for measuring the aperture of the small blind holes or through holes is introduced. The system is composed of one positioning device, one aperture measuring capacitance sensor, one measuring circuit, and software. This system employs visual CCD and two-dimensional micro-adjusting mechanism to realize the precise positioning. By LabView software this system is controlled to run automatically, to carry out calibration and automatic data collection, and to make data import into the database directly. Experiments proved that the diameter measurement range of the system can be 1.8 mm—7 mm, the resolution can be up to 5 nm—10 nm, the repeatability measurement standard deviation can be 0.05 μm—0.1 μm, and the measurement uncertainty can achieve 0.15 μm—0.3 μm. So the measuring system can realize the nanometer-level measurement.
