Taylor's Story: Full Inclusion in Her Neighborhood Elementary School

During this 3-year field study, we examined the experiences of educators and children as they participated in the full educational inclusion of one child with severe disabilities. Data from interviews, sociometric measures, videotapes, and field notes were used to present the perspectives of administrators, general and special educators, students, and Taylor's parents. Benefits to Taylor and her classmates are discussed as well as recommendations for support of schools beginning full inclusion efforts.

当前,我国正在开展普通中学文理分科与否的大讨论.文章通过对20世纪以来我国普通中学文理分合百年的历史进行考察,指出了文理分合中的"钟摆"现象.认为"钟摆"现象是课程发展的必经之途,并结合当前实际展开了反思,指出应注意"钟摆"的幅度,应予课程实施以应有的重视.

SAIL: A School Where the Arts Connect with Real Learning

Increasing numbers of educators and parents are recognizing that traditional educational models can be unsupportive and, at times, alienating to children, particularly those with special needs. SAIL, a public charter* school in Washington, DC, for children 5–12 years old (often labelled as having special needs), has used an innovative education model that infuses the arts in learning experiences. Providing a unique physical and social environment, an arts‐based curriculum, and authentic assessment methods, SAIL is steadily achieving or exceeding its goals after two years of operation. This paper describes the work of SAIL. ^* A charter school is an autonomously governed public school designed to educate students in non‐traditional ways and obligated by its charter to monitor and record its performance.     

Educating Turkish Primary School Teachers in Visual Arts: the Past and the Future

Every educational system should meet certain criteria that establish quality in teaching and learning. These criteria are often provided by aims and objectives listed in school curricula. After describing and commenting on the history of school education in Turkey, the main question posed in this research is how to change the Turkish primary school education in visual arts so that its quality will improve. After analysing the situation, this work provides an outline of how this may be achieved. In the future, the insights gained may be very useful for an incorporation of European standards into the Turkish educational system.

The rabbi-educator relationship is a major concern to the Jewish educator. The quality of the working relationship fluctuates from synagogue to synagogue. In some congregations it is excellent. However, in most synagogues the rabbi-educator working relationship is far from satisfactory. Many talented and creative educators have left congregational education in order to escape the tension and frustration associated with congregational school administration.     

多元智能视野下的中学音乐教学

加德纳提出的多元智能理论,是20世纪80年代以来心理学领域内的新智能理论,它承认不同的人具有不同的认知强项,并概括出九种不同的智能。我国的中小学音乐教育历经多年的发展,在取得成绩的同时,也存在着诸多不足。借鉴多元智能理论及其对于课程开发的观点,重新审视中学音乐教学的目标、内容以及教学评估方式,对于更好地进行中学音乐教学有着重要的启示。
