中国式教育现代化的基本特征

中国式教育现代化是中国式现代化的重要组成,既体现世界各国教育现代化的共同特征,又体现中国特色,呈现出以下基本特征：以社会主义为根本方向,以人民满意为基本要求,以规模巨大为典型特征,以共同富裕为目标追求,以精神文明为价值指引,以人与自然和谐为生态诉求,以中国文化为历史根基,以教育创新为动力源泉,以和平发展为责任担当。中国式教育现代化不仅引领着中国教育走向现代化,而且为世界教育现代化提供中国方案、贡献中国智慧。

中国特色具有中国价值和世界意义,主要体现为中国道路的引领意义、中国模式的借鉴意义与中国方案的创新意义。本文从中国道路的引领意义、中国模式的借鉴意义和中国方案的创新意义对新时代"中国特色"作出阐释,以期为建设中国特色社会主义社会提供精神动力,为世界发展提供有益借鉴。

佛教变异与禅宗的新生

西方文论中国化是重建中国文论话语的横向动力,本文以佛教的文化异质性﹑佛教的中国化变异以及中国化的佛教——禅宗为研究对象,揭示西方文论中国化的转换规则和切实路径。相信佛教中国化的经验可以为西方文论中国化与中国当代文论的重建提供启示和借鉴。

Contract research,the university,and the academic

With the decline in the funding of university research activities from traditional sources, many universities are instigating contract research programs as a means of funding research. This article examines some of the implications of university-based contract research, drawing largely on the author's own experiences. The problems which are examined include the moral and ethical implications, the legal aspects, problems over ownership of research results, the implications for staff rights, the status of contract researchers, the implications for publication, problems of authority, responsibility and social justice, and the conflicts between teaching and research. The article concludes with eleven points for successful university-based contract research.

Informing classroom practice: What we know about several task characteristics and their effects on learning

In this article, I discuss three task characteristics in terms of their possible implications for classroom learning—drawing heavily upon my own research. Of the three, only the spacing effect appears to have clear implications for improving classroom practice. By contrast, the other two—meaning-enhancing additions to what is to be learned and successive presentations of meaningfully related learning material—do not as yet have clear classroom implications.     

Pragmatism and post-qualitative futures

This paper notes that there has been a relatively recent revision of the pragmatist philosophy canon, one that moves beyond a focus on epistemic and pedagogical theories, and locates pragmatism in a tradition of radical ontological theorizing and political action. This essay examines this revision for its relevance to the emerging materialist turn in qualitative research methodology. The essay focuses on two themes within contemporary and classical pragmatist philosophy: a reflexive realism and an ontology of the future. The methodological implications of these features are explored in detail. These implications are compared to post-structuralist conceptions of reflexivity that informed the last wave of qualitative research innovation and to the new materialism theories that are inspiring a new wave of methodological innovation. The most significant methodological implications of pragmatic philosophy are located in its ideas about the ontologically co-constituting relationship between inquiry practice and future possibilities.

Visual stress theory and its application to reading and reading tests

This paper presents a theory of visual stress. The theory is applied to the assessment of symptoms of visual stress and its treatment with coloured filters. The theory has implications for standard reading assessments that relate both to the visual skills and the age of the children taking the tests. These implications are reviewed, with the conclusion that insufficient attention is paid to visual factors in reading, particularly in the design of reading tests.     

Ecological consciousness and curriculum

This paper explores competing stories around consciousness, ecology and education, with particular reference to conceptual refinement of the idea of an 'ecological consciousness'. Phenomenological and functional models of consciousness are examined in terms of their implications for developing ecological consciousness in and for education. Ecological consciousness has significant implications for education as it resituates us as human creatures dwelling in the world-as interrelated ecological identities embedded in a many-voiced landscape.     

The Information Superhighway and Post-modernity: The social promise and the social price

This paper is concerned with the social and cultural implications of converging technologies. It offers answers to questions about the implications for our quality of life, social justice and for politics in the context of post-modernity. Drawing together arguments from key commentators and critics from within and beyond cyberspace it identifies possibilities and potential dangers. The purpose of the paper is to assist educators to move beyond current instrumental perspectives.
