Learning through Making and Maker Education

In this paper, we provide an overview of the current efforts in maker education, supported by a review of empirical studies. Our synthesis will inform the community about learning outcomes, potential and common issues, challenges, resources, and future research direction regarding maker education.

大学英语中的词汇教学是对词的发音,词的外部形式和词所表达的意义等三个方面的综合性教学,孤立讲授词汇的方法不利于学生理解,掌握所学的单词,更无助于提高学生的交际能力.本文以语言学理论为指导,教学实践为基础,探讨了如何进行词汇教学以促进学生既牢固掌握词汇知识,同时又能够注重培养学生"自主学习"的能力而成为一名成功的具备实用性语言能力的英语学习者.     

Learning through Meaning Making: Applying Job Crafting in Field Learning

Job crafting makes people’s work rewarding through meaning making. This article discusses the ways in which a field director may use job crafting to address a common challenge in field education. Field placements are based on various institutional expectations; however, many students have preconceived notions of what social work and social work education should be, and they complain that their placements are “not clinical ” enough. Through the application of job crafting, students can reframe their field learning experiences in a meaningful way. Using the case study method, this article demonstrates one way to support MSW students, highlighting common challenges and practices at a large public northeastern university.     

大学课堂中创新性学习的偏离及矫正

大学课堂在传承人类最优秀、最博大精深的文化知识资源的同时,理应成为创新性学习的重要场所。然而,立基于对大学课堂中学习目标、学习方式、学习策略、学习氛围、学习内容、学习评价等方面的分析,我们发现大学课堂偏离了创新性学习。为了在大学课堂中鼓励研究学问、探索创新,我们试构建适合于创新性学习的大学课堂。     

设计型学习——一种正在兴起的学习范式

设计型学习(Design-based Learning)是近几年国外教育界刚兴起的一种新的学习方式.作为一种项目中介的学习样式,设计型学习强调学生参与到设计项目中有意义地学习科学知识和设计技能,因而为复杂环境中的学习提供了有效的方法,尤其适应知识时代的学习诉求.通过文献分析、比较研究和案例剖析,本文阐释了设计型学习出现的社会背景及定义以及特征,阐述了其理论基础,并通过学习方式的比较提取其价值取向;基于案例的分析,探讨了设计型学习的逆向思维(Backward Thinking)学习的过程模型和实施程序.研究表明,设计型学习通过强调在做中学技术、学设计的技能和思维,锻炼了学习者的设计思维和能力,培养了学习者的创新能力和合作能力,这为当下的教学革新研究与实践创新提供了一种参照和启示.     

激活大学英语课堂缓解英语学习焦虑

人们在学习第二语言的过程经常会遇到很多阻碍,其中第二语言焦虑就是阻碍学习者熟练掌握第二语言的主要障碍之一,研究第二语言焦虑不仅可以更为深入的了解第二语言焦虑的本质,为解除第二语言焦虑、顺利掌握第二语言提供理论上和策略上的支持,具有很强的理论和实践意义。     

让初中英语课堂趣味横生

我在教学中体验到,巧用故事活动,可以激活学生的各种智能,同时,也可以提高学生学习英语的兴趣。我将对话改编成一个个故事,在里面融入新的知识点,在讲故事之前,让学生猜一猜故事发生的时间、地点、人物、经过、结果等。通过猜故事,激发学生英语学习的兴趣,吸引他们的注意力,活跃他们的思维,调节了课堂气氛,让他们充满激情和带着愉快的心情进入学习状态。     

小组学习在高职院校大学英语口语课堂的应用

小组学习就是学生通过分工合作共同达到学习目标的一种学习方式。它在改善课堂气氛,提高学生学习积极性,改善师生关系等方面实效显著,是当代主流教学理论与策略之一。此研究基于我院非英语专业学生英语口语现状,结合自己教学实践,提出在口语课堂中实施小组学习。阐述了小组学习在口语课堂中的必要性、具体实施以及实施后的心得体会。     

构建学教评三位一体的大学英语课堂——学习MS-EEPO有效教育实践与探索

在以"能力"为重心的"应用型人才"培养目标的导向下,大学英语教学改革朝着个性化、自主式学习方向发展,要求教学在培养运用能力的同时,更要注重自主实践能力、创新能力的培养。针对学生学习风格差异、不善于沟通、课堂管理欠缺等教学现状,文中所探讨的新途径以组织和参与为核心的MS-EEPO有效教育理念为依据,通过构建MS-EEPO学教评三位一体的大学英语课堂,提高学生的实践能力和创新能力,实现以人为本、以学生为主体的教学理念。     

基于设计的研究:正在兴起的学习研究新范式

作为一种发展中的研究方法论范式,基于设计的研究自上世纪90年代以来在国际教育学界所受关注与日俱增。它聚焦于自然情境学习的理解和有效学习环境的设计,通过迭代式的设计探究将理论与实践连接起来,是理解教育革新如何在实践中运作的重要方法论。它是教育中的设计科学,是一种机制性研究、发展性研究、应用激发的基础研究,产生的"境脉中的理论"为促进持续的教育革新提供了解释性框架和设计原则。国际学界在此方面的研究表明,基于设计的研究将为教育研究走出理论创新与实效不足的困境带来新的曙光。     

Expanding Learning Opportunities for High School Students With Distance Learning

The purpose of the Synchronous Interactive Video Conference Distance Learning pilot program was to use emerging technologies to expand learning opportunities for students at an urban public high school. Through grant funding, students were able to enroll in Advanced Placement and foreign language courses through an online learning provider. Using case study methodology, the pilot program was thoroughly examined through the analysis of multiple sources of data such as surveys of multiple stakeholders, interviews of program administrators, and the examination of student course documentation. The attrition rate was high at 61.9%. The combination of insufficient time for planning and preparation, lack of support for students, and poor communication was detrimental to the program.     

运用颠倒课堂促进大学生学习

随着教学改革的不断深入,新的教学模式正在蓬勃发展,颠倒课堂在美国教学应用中带来了有目共睹的教学效果。中国的大学教育有一部分课程正向着颠倒课堂的方向发展,大部分课堂能做到的是给学生提供视频资源、实时在线交流,但并未实现真正意义的颠倒课堂。基于此,通过对颠倒课堂发展历程的描述、与传统教学模式的对比,从颠倒课堂在大学实施过程中所面临的挑战和大学生学习的特点,来论述为什么颠倒课堂适合大学生学习,以及如何运用颠倒课堂来促进大学生学习并提出相应的建议。

Applying abstract ethical principles to the practical business of building a code of applied ethics for a technical communication department teaches students that they share certain unarticulated or even unconscious values that they can translate into ethical principles. Combining abstract theory with practical policy writing can teach technical communication students to become increasingly aware of ethical actions without restricting ethics solely to abstractions or rules.
