Syncedoche（提喻）是英语中常用的一种修辞格,Syncedoche来自希腊语,是“共同担起”（GK“taking up together”的意思。它的基本定义是: A figure of speech in which the part stands for the whole,and thussomething else is understood within the thing metioned。 （J.A.Cuddon:A dictonary of Literary Teams） （一种修辞格。它是以部分代替全体,这样不用提起某种事物就可使人明白其所指。） 当然提喻不仅限于以部分代替全体,还有因此而衍化的以全体代部分,即以一种事物代替此类事物,或以某类事物代替其中的一种等等。总之,提喻是不直接说出事物的名称,而是以局部与全部相互代替的一种修辞方法。下面逐一举例说明: 1、以部分代全体 ①They were short of hands at harvest time。 （收获季节他们缺少劳力。）

A Stylistic Perspective on Translation of Reduplicated Words in Classical Chinese Poetry

Chinese poetry has a very long and remarkable history.It is one of the most important representatives of China’s ancient civilization of 5000 years.Chinese poetry utilizes quite a large number of methods in order to be more melodious and charming.Reduplicated words,as a figure of speech,are one of the most frequently used form among them.Reduplicated words as an active rhetorical device can add more flavor and taste to poems.They have the advantages of expressing the stylistic beauty effectively in form,sound and sense,thus push the article to its topmost aesthetic beauty.This paper,from a stylistic perspective,first discusses and argues the translatability of reduplicated words and then the importance to maintain the style of reduplicated words.After that it tries hard to put forward some favorable ways of dealing with the translation of reduplicated words so that reduplicated words in classical Chinese poetry can be appropriately translated without damage to the original style and flavor.

J. D. Salinger was a remarkable writer in contemporary America. The Catcher in the Rye is his only novel, published in 1951. This novel attracts much attention from the critics and readers worldwide. Literary stylistics tends to focus on the analysis of literary text. According to Leech, there are four categories of stylistic features: lexical,grammatical, figures of speech and context. Since the purpose of stylistic analysis is to highlight the stylistic effects, different categories are used to find out how choice of words involves various types of meaning. Though, many literary reviews have contributed to the understanding of The Catcher in the Rye, most of them are concerned with its theme and the social value. Few scholars study the novel from the perspective of literary stylistics. Therefore, this thesis attempts to analyze the stylistic features of the novel’s language, disclosing how the protagonist’s language expresses meaning and thought.

Understanding Business English from the Stylistic Features of English Business Communication

On Chinese Parody Translation

Chinese parody,as a traditional figure of speech,has captured more and more attention from scholars.The researches conducted up to date are inadequate in theorizing and exploring its translation.This paper,based on the comparative data analysis of Chinese parody translation examples in different types of texts,attempts to probe into the means about how to achieve the closest function equivalence in rendering Chinese parody under the guidance of Sociosemiotic Approach.It is found that the nature of Chinese parody translation is to achieve the closest natural equivalence or similarity in expressive function,informative function,vocative function and aesthetic function in its equivalents in English.And it is suggested that borrowing,imitating,paraphrasing and adapting are effective strategies in translating Chinese parody.

Robert Frost is an American contemporary poet who is good at stylistic feature of poems, especially in macroscopic organization, rhetorical methods, grammatical metaphor, vocabulary, rhythmic feature, and semantic relations.
