经过独立后50年的努力,印度女性接受高等教育的机会有了显著增加。但是,在高等教育的层次分布、专业分布和地域分布方面仍很不合理。单独为女性设立的女子学院数量的增加,一方面表明女性教育机会的增加,但也说明世界通行的男女同样教育在印度仍有很大阻力。印度女性接受高等教育仍然存在许多制约因素。高等教育对印度的思想观念产生了一定程度的积极影响,但这些影响很容易发生逆转。  相似文献

This paper reviews the provision of higher education courses in the further education sector in Northern Ireland. It charts the evolution of policy through the 1990s by examining major policy documents. It notes the chronic absence of reliable statistical and research evidence during this period. The available statistical evidence is reviewed. Key themes are identified including: localism, ‘non‐evidence based policy making’, higher education versus the demand for skills and community relations and equality. The innovative concept, now it would appear doomed, of the Springvale campus for west Belfast is examined. Finally, the paper notes that there is an urgent need to provide strategic direction to the further education sector as a whole.  相似文献

Although African countries have been continuously expanding their tertiary education systems since independence, these systems remain inadequate for fulfilling the demands being placed on them. Indeed, in many cases, the progress made has been set back by war, disease, and natural catastrophe. Various forms of non-traditional delivery are required, and several examples of distance networking are detailed, including the African Virtual University. A strategic approach to the expansion of access to and opportunities in tertiary education is required making use of assistance from the international partners of African universities.  相似文献

A number of strengths and weaknesses have been detected in the background knowledge and skill of chemistry teachers. Two weaknesses, knowledge of the persons of chemistry and familiarity with socially useful chemicals and their origins, have been recently identified. The trends in chemical curricula for general education are such that a remedy for these weaknesses is necessary. A number of suggestions that have been used occasionally in teaching chemistry at the universities and CAEs, are made for regular inclusion in undergraduate courses. School teaching is a major outlet for chemistry graduates and this fact should be recognised in designing these curricula in higher education.  相似文献

England has a two-sector system of higher education and further education. Shaped by legislation in 1988 and 1992, the architecture of this system was intended to concentrate each type of education in separate institutions and separate sectors. In recognition of these different missions, each territory came under different funding and regulatory regimes, with little or no movement of institutions anticipated between sectors. These arrangements continue, although Government policy is now to support and expand higher education in further education colleges. This policy turnaround is part of a larger strategy or experiment to change the future pattern of demand for, and supply of, undergraduate education. However, the college contribution to this new higher education is neither co-ordinated nor protected. Rather, further education colleges compete as well as collaborate with institutions in the higher education sector, under conditions of complexity, uncertainty and dependency.  相似文献

Abstract

In order to achieve rapid growth in student numbers, a number of Higher Education Institutions have borrowed some of the concepts of franchising from the private service sector. A franchise involves one party — the franchisor — developing a service and monitoring standards, whilst a second party — the franchisee, delivers the service in return for a share of the reward.

This article draws comparisons between private sector and higher education franchising and analyses the franchise strategies open to the HE sector. It concludes that if managed correctly, franchising will bring benefits to the higher education sector, colleges of further education and students alike. The uncertain start to higher education franchising mirrors the early days of private sector franchising, but like the latter, it has potential subsequently to achieve rapid mutually beneficial growth.  相似文献

In light of the established validity of the pendulumas a topic in physics curricula (Matthews 2000),the study looked at the place of pendulum motion inthe physics curriculum of the high school in Israel.The data is available through presenting results ofthe nationwide matriculation examination in its unitsof Mechanics and Research Laboratory for the AdvancedPlacement (several thousands students). Although the assessment questions and problems mainlytested students' performance, and less their understandingof the subject, the study, by discussing these problemsand questions, allows a perception of the extent towhich the pendulum topic is addressed in High Schoolphysics instruction. The results can support a discussionon the nature of the requirements and values encouragedby the particular educational system and the strengthsand weaknesses of the adopted educational policies.  相似文献

The author remarks that globalization is here to stay and that it is much more than a matter of global markets. She points out some of its beneficial aspects in South East Europe. It will, for example, allow members of diasporas from former trouble spots to keep in contact with their home countries by Internet and to assist them. Such positive developments can already be identified in some countries of the region.
