Smoothing Newton Algorithm for Nonlinear Complementarity Problem with a P.Function

By using a smoothing function,the P nonlinear complementarity problem(P NCP)can be reformulated as a parameterized smooth equation.A Newton method is proposed to solve this equation.The iteration sequence generated by the proposed algorithm is bounded and this algorithm is proved to be globally convergent under an assumption that the P NCP has a nonempty solution set.This assumption is weaker than the ones used in most existing smoothing algorithms.In particular,the solution obtained by the proposed algorithm is shown to be a maximally complementary solution of the P NCP without any additional assumption.     

Molecular dynamics simulation of liquid-vapor surface tension

A molecular dynamics simulation model is established based on the well-known Lennard-Jones 12-6 potential function to determine the surface tension of a Lennard-Jones liquid-vapor interface.The simulation is carried out with argon as the working fluid of a given molecular number at different temperature and different truncated radius.It is found that the surface tension of a Lennard-Jones fluid is likely to be bigger for a bigger truncated radius,and tends to be constant after the truncated radius increased to a certain value.It is also found that the surface tension becomes smaller as the temperature increases.

Transitivity and Sensitivity on Uniform Maps

We obtain that a equivalence condition for the uniform map f to be -transitive, and a equivalence condition for the uniform map f to be .P-sensitive when X is a compact metric space, where is a collection of subsets of Z＋ that is hereditary upward. Our results improve and extend the existing results. Moreover, we give a example which shows that the several results in [8] are all wrong.

Zigbee-based new approach to smart home

Smart home is a promising solution to improving the quality of people＇s life. Much work has been done in the field, but most of these solutions are just based on home gateway, leaving much to be improved. One of its defects is the relatively high energy consuming and its radiation, and the other is that it is not available to the old home appliances which fail to access the internet. Full use of the low energy consuming characteristic of the Zigbee wireless sensor network, a completely new smart home solution is put forward in this paper. Without need of a home gateway and any modification for the currently used family appliances, the method uses the Zigbee coordinator as the central controller and the controllers of appliances as the end devices of Zigbee. It can realize a comfortable and smart home. Experiments show that the scheme proposed is feasible and it will be no doubt to be able to improve the quality of people＇s daily life.

TCP-friendly source adaptation for multimedia applications over the Internet

In this paper, we propose a simply TCP-friendly source adaptation framework to provide a proportional bandwidth sharing service. Our scheme is based on the framework of Monotonic Response Function (MRF), can be used to bound the sending rate of a source within a predefined interval and provide very smooth traffic, and is suitable for multimedia applications over the Internet. As our scheme is also very simple and TCP-friendly, it is easy to be deployed over the current Internet. We verify our scheme with experimental studies.

Dynamic crack propagation analysis using scaled boundary finite element method

The prediction of dynamic crack propagation in brittle materials is still an important issue in many engineering fields. The remeshing technique based on scaled boundary finite element method（SBFEM） is extended to predict the dynamic crack propagation in brittle materials. The structure is firstly divided into a number of superelements, only the boundaries of which need to be discretized with line elements. In the SBFEM formulation, the stiffness and mass matrices of the super-elements can be coupled seamlessly with standard finite elements, thus the advantages of versatility and flexibility of the FEM are well maintained. The transient response of the structure can be calculated directly in the time domain using a standard time-integration scheme. Then the dynamic stress intensity factor（DSIF） during crack propagation can be solved analytically due to the semi-analytical nature of SBFEM. Only the fine mesh discretization for the crack-tip super-element is needed to ensure the required accuracy for the determination of stress intensity factor（SIF）. According to the predicted crack-tip position, a simple remeshing algorithm with the minimum mesh changes is suggested to simulate the dynamic crack propagation. Numerical examples indicate that the proposed method can be effectively used to deal with the dynamic crack propagation in a finite sized rectangular plate including a central crack. Comparison is made with the results available in the literature, which shows good agreement between each other.
