媒介建构的拟态世界并不是对现实世界的客观反映,而是对现实世界中影响信息选择与传播的各种力量角逐和协商的综合反映.新闻推送的产生是网络技术发展到一定阶段,为满足网络用户的新闻获取而进行的自觉进化.新闻推送过程既反映了人与计算机之间的智能互动,又反映了新闻推送主体与社会集体意识之间的微妙互动.新闻推送的结果作用于人们对客观世界的认知与观察,从而完成对现实世界的二次重构.     

Consuming the Fractured Female: Lessons from MTV's The Real World

Using MTV's popular long-running program The Real World as a case study, this essay examines the interrelationship of the construction and consumption of bodies in an increasingly surveillance-based, commercial, hybrid media culture. This article is part of a larger project that employed a multi-method approach grounded in feminism combining textual data from The Real World with interviews with producers and female fans of The Real World. The author investigates how Real World viewers make sense of the series' claims to the real, using the body as the site of cultural production. Two key frames of bodies on The Real World are identified: the troubled body and the heteronormative body. The analysis is situated among studies of media realism to interrogate the context in which real women today are recreated as the “fractured female” in popular culture. The author argues that scholars should continue in a move toward interdisciplinary approaches that link the cultural with the capital and offers the body as a major site of cultural production and reception.     

Real World Objects: Conceptual Framework and University Library Consortium Study

Expanding libraries' repertoire of relevant materials is one of the most important areas of concern for librarians. Incorporation of objects into library collections is an ongoing practice for which librarians remain under-equipped. Having a common language to discuss less conventional library materials across specialization areas helps libraries provide patrons with access to valuable informational objects. In order to provide access and preservation for objects, libraries need a conceptual framework, which is developed here. An observational case study was conducted to inform the reader of the current landscape of objects in libraries by sampling the websites and catalogs of a university consortium utilizing definitions established in the framework. The qualitative data from this study will be presented in a table after the framework is explored. This paper has implications for informational objects in every academic subject area, as well as for ongoing services in makerspaces and media centers.     

Circulation — The Making of: Library Videos and the Real World

The Ohio University Libraries has been a part of the university's Freshman Year Experience (FYE) classes almost since their inception. Over the past ten years, we have tried many variations on the “library day” lesson plan, with various (low) success rates. For fall of 2010, the FYE coordinator asked for an extremely simple plan: just some videos about services and a walk through the library. It was well-timed; we were both frustrated with the low use of our lesson plans and getting better at video production. It seemed it would be so easy … and then, of course it wasn't. We were saved by collaborating with a film student, and one of our videos was awarded an ALA 2011 PR “Best of Show”. Students and instructors respond well to humorous short videos in which we do not take ourselves too seriously.     

The Real World of Integrating Electronic Resources into a Web OPAC

Summary

For the researcher, there has been an increase in the availability of electronic resources that includes electronic journals, databases and full-text resources. A Web OPAC is a powerful tool that links all of these electronic resources for easy access. Workshop presenters described their experience with establishing a Web OPAC and how systems, serials cataloging and reference dealt with it.

通过介绍我国数据库出版概况,利用网络抓取USNEWS世界排名前20一流大学的数据库信息,清洗并统计国际一流大学我国中文数据库的订购信息,讨论国际一流大学倾向订购的通用性中文数据库和选择性中文数据库.从国际一流大学市场占有率的角度分析我国中文数据库的国际影响力现状,并从重视国际营销、提升内容质量和运用先进信息技术三个方面提出在国际一流大学推广中文数据库的建议.     

世界重点高校"知识管理"课程建设实证调查研究(Ⅰ)——调查对象、方法及结果

本文选择了50所世界重点高校作为调查对象,采用网上调查的方式,从课程教学模式、课程内容、课程性质、教学目标、教学方法与手段等方面对"知识管理"课程建设现状进行实证调查,并在调查结果汇总表中归类列举了知识管理相关课程目录及其开设学校.最后,综合考虑国别、教学模式、学科专业、开设层次等多方面的因素,挑选了部分在知识管理教学方面有突出特色的高校进行了简要介绍.

Real options theory,flexibility and the media industry

Abstract

This conceptual paper is based on two propositions: 1.) An efficient flexibility management is a critical success factor for media companies. 2.) The concept of real options theory (ROT) aims at improving a company's flexibility management. As a consequence, it is analysed how ROT can contribute to the flexibility management in media companies. In this context, two research issues are investigated. First, it is shown that real options as substantiations of flexibility are of great importance for media companies: In doing so, it is outlined that options which focus on a company's fixed costs management and options which aim at improving a company's sales situation are of high relevance for all segments in the media industry. Contrarily, options which focus on a company's variable costs are only relevant for media companies engaged in the print segment. Second, it is illustrated how ROT can contribute to the reactive and proactive management of flexibility in media companies.
