Chinese Arts to Be Showcased in Belgium

Europalia.China, a four-month arts festival to be opened in Belgium in October, 2008, will feature more than one hundred projects involving such diverse forms of arts as performing arts, literature, exhibition and film. Some one thousand Chinese artists from Mainland China as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan will bring fascinating art galas to Belgian audiences with their unique and outstanding performances of Chinese styles.

Sinology is an academic discipline on the study of China, Chinese people and Chinese culture. Today, the scope of sinology has widened extensively to establish itself as a knowledge system on the study of Chinese philosophy, history, language, literature, arts, politics, economy and society. Sinology development relies on sinologists and translators who play an indispensible role in helping the rest of the world know more about China.     

Festival of China Enhances China-Nepal Ties

From October 10 to 17, the Festival of China 2009 was held in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. This one-week biennial celebration, initiated in 2003, aims to ＂promote culturaland art exchange between the two countries, facilitate friendship between the two people and enhance friendly neighborhood＂. This fourth session, with the theme of ＂experience the charm of Nantong＂, was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of China, the Government of Jiangsu Province and the Chinese Embassy in Nepal. Diverse events were launched during the festival, including performances, trade fairs, fashion shows, exhibitions, food fairs and film showcases.

Tang Paradise Welcomes Chinese and Russian Leaders

Culture serves as a bridge linking people＇s hearts and deepening mutual understanding and trust between countries. On October 18, 2013, as part of the agenda for the 17th Session of the Chinese and Russian Premiers＇ Regular Meeting Committee, vice premiers of the two countries held talks at the Tang Paradise in the historic city of Xi＇an, experiencing the time-honored history and culture of theTang Dynasty.     

AN EMBASSY TO CHINA

From 1419 to 1422, a large diplomatic mission consisting of 510 persons and dispatched by Timurid King Shahruh Bahadur paid a visit to the Ming Empire. The delegation member and painter recorded in his diary traditions and customs he saw along his journey and politics, economy, traditions and people of the Ming Dynasty. These notes were later compiled as “An Embassy to China”, which is now referred to as an important historical record for the study of cultural exchange between Central Asia and China of the time. The author, based on this literary work, reviewed that part of history on friendly exchange between China and lran.     

Festival of China Strengthens US-China Cultural Ties

On the evening of October 1, 2005, dazzling art shows in Eisenhower Stage in Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. kicked off the month-long Festival of China. Chinese Culture Year Celebrated in Australia

During Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang’s official visit to Australia in October 2009, Chinese and Australian leaderships reached a consensus of hosting cultural years in each other’s country. From June 2010 to June 2011, "Experience Australia"—the Year of Australian Culture was successfully held in China. From June 2011 to June 2012, "Experience China"—the Year of Chinese Culture (YCCiA) is celebrated in Australia, featuring nearly 100 cultural events ranging from performing arts projects to visual art exhibitions to film festivals.

A Brief Review of Chinese Print

Chinese print can date back 1100 years. For example, carved bricks and stones in the Han Dynasty are actually ear, forms of woodprint. As a type of print art, wood board printing invented in the Tang Dynasty was closely related to life of ordinary people and helped to spread arts in ancient China. Buddhist sutra Vajracchedika printed in 868 AD is the important evidence testifying to the wood board printing of the Tang Dynasty and the world＇s earliest complete printed book still preserved today. Thus it is generally recognized as the peak of print art of the Tang Dynasty.     

SUDANESE DISCIPLES STUDY CHINESE ACROBATICS

Cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Sudan goes all the way back to ancient times. In particular, China began to train acrobats for Sudan from the 1970s as part of the country＇s cultural aid programs for Africa. 13th World Olympic Collectors＇ Fair opens in Beijing OLYMPIC COLLECTORS＇ RENDEZVOUS

Fans and collectors of Olympics-related souvenirs such as coins and stamps flocked to the 13th World Olympic Collectors＇ Fair which took place from June 22 to 28. Visitors from numerous countries attended the six-day fair which showcases more than a century of treasures representing the various stages of the Olympic movement.Collectors from across the world brought their collections to Beijing to exchange with Chinese collectors and to show to Chinese people the greatness of the Olympic collectors＇ family.
