图书馆网络阅览室的建设及管理

随着网络信息技术、多媒体技术、存储技术的飞速进步，图书馆现代化已经进入数字时代的发展进程，并以其特有的快速、高效和便捷改变着人们学习和生活的方式。数字化图书馆的中枢是网络阅览室，它彻底改变了传统图书馆的服务模式，利用计算机网络技术为读者提供丰富的、快速的、方便的电子信息服务。它是数字化图书馆建设的重要组成部分，也将成为衡量图书馆现代化水平的尺度。     

浅议数字化图书馆的建设

1数字化图书馆的定义所谓数字化图书馆,就是指图书馆采用现代高新技术所支持的数字信息系统,对图书馆各种资源进行数字化处理、存贮和传输。也就是说,数字化图书馆运用计算机系统管理各种载体文献的加工与服务,并通过现代化网络技术组织用户访问馆外数字化文献信息,如电子期刊、声像资料、多媒体资料等。     

关于图书馆现代化的几点思考

图书馆的现代化不仅仅是图书馆引进计算机等一些现代化的设备，引进一些数字化的数据库，它至少应该包括三方面的含义：一是现代化技术的应用；二是图书馆理论的现代化和图书馆服务管理的现代化；三是现代化的图书馆必须是现代化图书馆网络的有机组成部分，单个图书馆不可能建成现代化的图书馆。本文重点论述了图书馆理论的现代化和图书馆服务管理的现代化。

高校图书馆的数字化建设是高校图书馆在网络环境下发展和变革的必然，高校图书馆必须根据自身特点，为适应数字化建设进行变革。文章从技术、管理及服务的角度出发，探讨了高校图书馆在向数字图书馆转化过程中的变革。

文章主要论述了网络环境下高校图书馆现代化建设的三个问题，即数字化信息资源建设是高校图书馆现代化建设的主要方向，实现四个转变是高校图书馆现代化建设的主要途径，正确处理四个关系是高校图书馆现代化建设的关键问题。

描述在IT背景下，世纪高水平大学现代化图书馆的主要特征和建设重点，提出了包括网络在内的软硬件环境要求和自动化，数字化图书馆建设的思路。

现代化的图书馆网络，是基于电子计算机网络的图书馆自动化技术与图书馆事业建设的高度结合。本文首先分析了图书馆现代化网络的５个概念层次，然后结合发达国家的情况提出了图书馆现代化网络建设所应实现的５种功能，并展望了图书馆现代化网络的未来景象。最后，提出了我国图书馆现代化网络建设的战略框架。     

数字化档案室建设要点

数字化档案室是一个高度整合的概念，它包括信息的形成、归档、处理、利用等全过程的数字化，是网络技术、计算机技术、信息技术、通讯技术等现代高新技术与现代化档案技术的共同“牵手”。数字化档案室建设，应当着重做好以下几项工作：     

新世纪现代化图书馆的建设—云南省图书馆建设综述

从云南省图书馆改扩建工程建设的设计入手，对云南省图书馆建设规模、平面布局和功能分区、结构、智能化布线等方面进行了阐述。在图书馆新馆建设过程中，抓住机遇，从方便读者、为读者服务方面，把握建设中各个工作五一节，贯穿以读者为中心的建设思想。按现代化图书馆的基本要求，在网络基础和计算机系统方面，适应电子图书馆时代向数字化图书馆迈进的要求。并提出图书馆建设不宜搞高层建筑的建议，为他馆建设提供了必要的借鉴。     

电子阅览室管理与建设实践谈

随着计算机多媒体技术、网络技术、电子出版物的迅速发展和广泛应用，图书馆网络化建设被逐渐提上议事日程。我校图书馆于２０００年开始组建了图书馆电子阅览室，电子阅览室向读者提供全新的机读型（数字化）文献信息服务，并借助于ASDL网络技术，将可利用的信息资源飞速扩展到全球。其主要目的有三个：①电子阅览室是高校图书馆现代化的重要标志之一，是当今信息化服务不可缺少的“硬件”。②电子阅览室是图书馆迈向“数字图书馆的第一步”，通过电子阅览室建设，来探索图书馆数字化的运作方式和发展前景。③高校图书馆是素质教育的基地…     

重庆市大学城资源共享平台"网上图书馆"实践研究

"网上图书馆"是重庆市大学城资源共享平台的最重要应用之一,致力于整合重庆市高校图书馆的纸本馆藏资源、数字文献资源及信息服务人力资源,通过现代信息技术的运用和管理体制的创新,积极推进重庆市高校文献资源的共建及各项信息服务的共享。网上图书馆在详细调研的基础上,构建了中心系统平台和部署于各个图书馆的专用现代数字图书馆管理系统,实现馆际互借、统一检索等资源共享。论文对网上图书馆的实施和运行管理进行了评述,对区域文献共享体系具有实际参考价值。     

A Pop-up Service Point and Repurposed Study Spaces: Maintaining Market Share During a Renovation

Payson Library, the largest library at Pepperdine, primarily serves undergraduate students. It underwent a renovation between spring 2016 and fall 2017. Payson Library was closed during this renovation, and a Library Hub was established as a temporary service point and library information and teaching center on campus. Maintaining market share led to rolling out new services such as RAPID-ILL, repurposing a graduate campus library for increased study spaces, and reliance on a strong library liaison program. Predictably, there was a sharp reduction in patron visits, but there was success in providing reference, instruction, and access to the collections.     

A Case Study for Combining Technologies for the Delivery of Information Literacy and Community to Students at Remote Locations Using Live Synchronous Video-Conferencing

The University of La Verne, a pioneer in the field of adult and distance education, hosts approximately 4,692 traditional undergraduate and graduate students on the main campus, 3,350 adult students, and hundreds of online students throughout California at nine regional campuses. Challenged by limited funding and staffing, the library and Regional Campus Administration collaborated with senior management to pilot a blended technology platform using Adobe Connect for content and live video streaming and Business Skype for audio to deliver real-time, interactive virtual information literacy to distance learners. The initial objective of “Library on Demand” was to supplement existing in-person, e-mail, and telephonic library information literacy instruction with live streaming video and two-way audio. The use of multi-channel instructional technologies would optimize outreach activities, reaching larger numbers of student communities while optimizing student learning modality preferences and differences. The pilot program was designed in phases to test the integrity of reaching over 3,500 students among the nine regional campus locations concurrently with a single librarian host. Later phases offer opportunities for targeted or specialized sessions including applications fostering emerging virtual social learning communities beyond a shared information literacy experience.     

Information Literacy Programs

Summary

With the rapid advances in information technology, the proliferation of information resources and formats, and the increasing complexities of access and evaluation, libraries recognize the necessity for a dynamic information literacy program that will address the needs of all categories of users. University faculty constitute one group of users to which the systemic college library increasingly endeavors to extend and market its services and programs, including its information literacy training workshops. A consideration of this library/classroom faculty relationship in the context of the adult education literature, as well as successful models that have been employed in this effort, provide insight on ways in which the library can successfully accomplish its information literacy training objectives among this group.     

University of Central Florida Librarians on Location

Abstract

Librarians on Location is an innovative project implemented at the University of Central Florida and is designed to move reference service out of the library to meet the needs of students. At two campus locations outside of the library, librarians use a wireless laptop to provide reference service and demonstrate library resources. The intent is to proactively meet the information needs of those students and faculty who might otherwise remain unaware of the extensive resources provided by the library. The nature of the project also addresses differing information-seeking styles in an informal setting. Because of the location in different buildings on campus, the project enhances the library's visibility to faculty, administrators, and students. Librarians on Location is one part of an ongoing and innovative outreach program at the University of Central Florida Library.     

Build Your Program by Building Your Team: Inclusively Transforming Services,Staffing and Spaces

ABSTRACT

User feedback told the story of the largest and busiest campus library being dated in both physical form and programmatic function. Under the framework of a newly-developed strategic plan, library leadership initiated a comprehensive and inclusive assessment program to understand fully user needs by engaging users, campus partners, and, importantly, library personnel. Simultaneously, they embarked on a review of change management literature for guidance on implementing the required transformation. Informed by the change management philosophy of John Kotter, the library utilized the findings of the assessment program to craft and implement a sustainable transformation of its services, staffing, and spaces.

在传统图书馆用户画像基础上,提出智慧校园环境下有基本信息、馆舍利用、图书借阅、数字资源、兴趣爱好、交流互动等六个方面的图书馆用户画像类别,采用数据实时交换、日志采集处理技术生成用户画像,采用大数据技术建立用户画像应用平台。文章从用户画像构建的研究进展、用户行为建模、动态用户画像和画像权重、动态用户画像的实现等角度探究智慧校园环境下图书馆动态用户画像构建方法,为实现高校图书馆个性化精准服务提供支撑。     

Faculty Orientation to Off-Campus and International Campus Locations

Following in the same tradition of seamlessly providing access to library resources to our remote users, our campus has now taken the next logical step in also providing an orientation for new faculty teaching online as well as those teaching at our international campus locations. Without this type of orientation program, new faculty often feel isolated and left to navigate various systems, including library resources, the learning management system, student information systems, early alert tools, etc., completely on their own. Providing an orientation to this audience helps bring them together and allows them to acclimate to the various campus systems in an easier and much-less frustrating manner.     

The Academic Library and the Common Read: A Multitude of Possibilities for Collaboration With Campus Programs and Departments

The continued popularity of the common read within the first year curriculum invites critical campus partnerships between the academic library and a wide variety of campus departments. These can include Honors, Student Success, Academic Affairs, and Community Engagement. This paper describes the efforts of one First Year Success Librarian to collaboratively expand campus programming related to the common read. Specifics include planning events related to the book and its themes, creating learning objects for first year students and pedagogical tools for instructors, and holding a position of leadership in the common read committee. Additional examples from existing library and information scholarship and future ideas are shared as well, with the goal of assisting a diversity of campus stakeholders on how to best support common read initiatives.     

Cool Collaborations: Designing a Better Library Experience

Academic libraries routinely partner with other campus units in such areas as information literacy or writing support. However, the Georgia Tech library collaborations described in this article step outside the norm in that librarians are involved throughout the process of designing the collaborative projects; the projects are integrated into the undergraduate curriculum and embrace the science, technology, and design campus focus; the library incurs little or no financial commitment; and projects are ongoing or have long-term effects. The projects continue to change campus perceptions of libraries and librarians, and they have made the library a sought after “cool” collaborator on campus.
