Silence,as a type of non-verbal communication,expresses special meanings of the speakers.The core of this study is focused on the functions of silence in conversations from the famous American TV series Prison Break(Season I),in order to reveal that silence,as an important tool in human communication,has richness of meaning and complexity of use.

国产电视剧传播伦理的失范及纠偏对策

电视剧传播伦理平衡的原则包括传播伦理与社会责任相统一、经济效益与社会效益相统一。随着我国电视剧的市场化,我国电视剧传播伦理出现失范现象,主要表现为在热播的电视剧中充斥着暴力、犯罪、性的内容以及偶像剧对社会规范传播的不当示范,给社会带来了许多负面影响。借鉴韩剧传播伦理规范,结合实际,我国电视剧传播伦理的纠偏对策可从三方面入手：加强媒体自律,改进政府监督方式,提高受众媒介素养。

电视言语伤害的表现形态、传播机制及伦理对策——基于《非诚勿扰》早期节目的案例分析

考察中国时下电视语言生态,一种较为轻微的媒介"软暴力"现象——言语伤害屡见不鲜。在对《非诚勿扰》开播后的第1-34期节目样本进行细致的案例分析中,研究发现电视言语伤害涉及被伤害者从生理特征、出生身份到个性观念等十多个方面的内容,存在指桑骂槐、恶意标定等12种最为典型的表现形态,并且形成了言语伤害传播的自我强化机制、幽默娱乐掩盖下的脱敏麻痹机制、伤人者终被自伤的自我纠偏机制。从语言伦理学的视角,电视媒介、电视观众和节目参与者都可采用相应的言语策略,遵从应有的言语道德和传播伦理,避免言语伤害的后果,促进言语文明,维护社会和谐。     

Student violence and the moral dimensions of education

Student violence has started to appear in schools in extreme forms. Various causes have been suggested, including TV violence, dysfunctional families, grinding poverty, child abuse, domestic violence, poor emotional and cognitive development, drugs, gangs, inequitable educational opportunity, and latchkey homes. A number of programs have been initiated to deal with this problem which focus on limiting the entry of weapons into the schools and managing aggressiveness. Unfortunately many of these programs fail to address the more fundamental causes of violence and aggression. A more effective means of prevention involves helping children become more responsible members of families, schools, and neighborhoods. School counselors and school psychologists have an important leadership role in helping reduce violence by promoting the moral dimensions of education, including the development of effective learning communities and encouraging school experiences which help children become more resilient in meeting the challenges they face each day without resorting to violence. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Parents in prison: A child abuse and neglect prevention strategy

Parents in Prison is an innovative family support service housed at the Tennessee State Prison for Men. Developed in response to inmates' recognition of the need for child abuse and neglect prevention services relevant to men who are in prison, the program model has potential for becoming a major service delivery strategy. Leadership for Parents in Prison is provided by an inmate committee which receives consultation and assistance from a community advisory board and an institutional sponsor. Program components--correspondence and classroom courses, monthly events featuring community guest speakers, and family-focused social activities and projects--address family needs during incarceration and upon return to community living. These diverse components and the flexible service delivery format permit widespread inmate participation not readily available in a prison setting. Parents in Prison successes demonstrate that the period of incarceration can be used to improve parental skills and knowledge and to strengthen family relationships. They also demonstrate the viability of a family support service which relies on inmate leadership, community volunteer participation, and institutional support. The future success of this model depends on replication in other prison settings, dissemination of the program products which have been and continue to be developed, and rigorous, systematic examination of the impact that participation has on child abuse and neglect problems associated with a father's incarceration.     

The 1919 Prison Special: Constituting white women's citizenship

During the spring of 1919, the National Woman's Party sponsored the Prison Special, a cross-country train tour of 26 white women who had been jailed as a result of their protest activity for woman suffrage. Using visual, embodied, and verbal enactments of imprisonment and civic action, the Prison Special constituted white women's citizenship through simultaneous rhetorics of inclusion and expulsion. The Prison Special's foregrounding of white women's martial capabilities, respectability, and vulnerability justified white women's inclusion in the category of citizen. The Prison Special's contrast of the imprisoned white suffragists to Black women co-prisoners participated in the expulsion of Black women from the category of citizen.

Reasoning with Children About Violent Television Shows and Related Toys

Many parents are seeking ways to reduce their children's exposure to violence. To this effect, recommendations have been made to parents, especially with respect to television violence and related games and toys. Three such recommendations are analyzed in terms of their probable outcomes. I argue that parental decisions to block particular TV programs and to avoid purchasing toys related to violent programs, if carried out in an authoritarian manner, may not bring about the anticipated outcomes. Reasoning with children and inviting them to assist in setting up family rules are actions that encourage young children to construct the self-awareness with which they may monitor their own behaviors, without excessive external rewards or restrictions. Five suggestions for raising nonviolent children are made and examples of their implementation are provided.

该文对长期以来困扰我国家庭稳定的妻妾问题从经济学的角度进行了分析,并就解决这一问题的对策进行了探讨。文章首先从男女双方魅力的动态差异进行了分析,认为正是男女双方魅力的动态差异导致了“包二奶”等妻妾问题的产生;接着分析了男女双方对妻妾问题存在的观念差异,认为正是男女双方视“第三者”为替代品还是互补品导致了家庭的不稳定性;第三部分引用博弈论里的一个经典案例分析——“囚徒困境”进行了分析,认为离婚问题对于夫妻双方来说是一个“囚徒困境”;最后一部分提出了解决这一问题的对策,认为最好的办法就是走出“囚徒困境”,实现“纳什均衡”,以和为贵。
