As part of the tradition of outgoing Central States Communication Association Presidents and Executive Directors providing a spotlight column in Communication Studies, I focus on the practical value of academic conferences for the development of knowledge, enhancement of teaching and mentoring practices, and as an outlet for learning about and doing service. Communication is a practical discipline where the research has a potential to make profound and positive differences. The interaction that is allowed at conferences presents an opportunity for communication pedagogy, research, and service to transform in meaningful ways. In addition to practical advice for making the most of a conference experience, some of the most recent developments for CSCA are highlighted. The essay then ends with a personal note.  相似文献

本文以国外传播理论教材的译介作为视角,考察了欧美传播理论话语在中国的诠释和变异,研究了西方客观经验主义的大众传播理论如何被潜移默化地等同于传播学的过程,同时以《传播理论导引:分析与应用》为例,对我国目前传播学的教学与研究中存在的一些问题进行了探讨,提出应该进一步开阔视野、注重研究范式、重新思考传播理论的教学与应用。  相似文献

Teachers and scholars from the Central region have been leaders in Communication Studies virtually since the beginnings of the modern era of the field, beginning with the organization of what is now the National Communication Association. Our predecessors in the Central States were imaginative risk‐takers. They saw ways for our discipline to make greater contributions to students and to knowledge and they moved the field in those ways. Such movement is more difficult today, but no less important. The authors encourage innovation and suggest ways to make innovations possible, despite the difficulties.  相似文献

《传播史学的未来》,原文发表于《媒体传播批判研究》(Critical Studies in Media Communication) 2006年秋季号。该文首先梳理了传播史学研究的两种倾向:技术史和新闻史,然后详述了三种介于和融合这两种倾向的跨学科的学术范式:作为技术的社会建构的技术史,追寻书籍生存史的书籍史,探索传播与管制关系的公共领域史,并衡量了其对传播史学的意义。最后总结传播史学的未来需要自己建构。本文的翻译得到了作者和原刊物的许可。  相似文献

In response to Hurricane Katrina's extensive destruction and related public health threats, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) deployed more than 1,000 staff to its emergency operations center and to affected areas. Among them were members of CDC's Emergency Communication System. This paper describes the strategies and tactics used by health communication specialists during the pre-event, response, and post-event stages to address a range of emergency communication exigencies. It highlights three difficult challenges for CDC communication specialists during Hurricane Katrina: rapid dissemination of health messages; adaptation of health messages for diverse audiences, locations, and circumstances; and phasing of key risk messages during the emergency response.  相似文献

Couple interaction and dialogue make up the most important pillars of a functional relationship. In this article, the vast body of research between the 1970s and 2010s was reviewed. The role of couple interaction in long-lasting relationships was dissected through this literature meta-analysis, which was categorized into three perspectives: the level, content, and accuracy of interaction. The core question was how happy and unhappy couples differ in their communication skills and habits. A general view of positive couple interaction was built and discussed. Communication skills and self-disclosure appeared the key factors in the positive development of a romantic relationship.  相似文献

本文关注的问题是跨文化传播的研究路径,基本观点是,跨文化传播领域的知识生产,应该以本土跨文化实践中的研究问题为出发点,运用多种学科的理论资源来建构跨文化传播的中层理论,而不主张以学科嫁接的方式建构脱离本土实际的宏大理论。文章首先回顾了跨文化传播研究的历史,认为这个领域是基于社会实践的需要而产生的;继而论证了跨文化研究领域中的学科嫁接式知识生产的不可能和没必要,然后以研究过程的图式为基础论证了从不同学科相关知识生产中挖掘出能为跨文化传播研究所用的知识理论资源的可能性,最后提出从研究问题出发建构跨文化传播的中层理论的设想。  相似文献

It is a coconstructed intercultural narrative about spaces, places, people, and ideas, about their influence on us and our academic journeys, separately and together. The study of intercultural communication (IC) has a long history in the Central States Communication Association (CSCA). Some of the earliest work in IC has come from universities in the CSCA region, such as Indiana University (William Starosta) and University of Minnesota (Vernon Jensen and Rosita Albert). Since the inception of the Intercultural Communication Interest Group within CSCA in the early 1990s, IC scholars have contributed immensely to the discipline by studying different aspects of the relationship between communication and culture. Communication involves incarnation in a twofold sense: it assumes a body, and it brings thoughts and values into being. The question of angelic communication, as a theoretical model for language and thought in medieval Christian theology, combines the two senses: for Thomas Aquinas, angels communicate among themselves without bodies, given that as immaterial beings they transmit their thoughts by will alone; but they need bodies in order to “appear” to humans and communicate with them. This indicates, if only by default, the place of incarnation in communication—for those of us who are not angels.  相似文献

[目的/意义]旨在分析协同搜索用户在信息搜索任务过程中的交流内容与模式,从而理解协同搜索用户的关注重点与搜索过程。[研究设计/方法]基于书籍交互检索平台(CLEF-Social Book Search)设计实验,共招募18名被试完成两种搜索任务,通过录音记录对话并对其进行编码和分析,总结交流内容特征和模式。结合任务类型、认知类型组合、服务器记录的搜索交互行为日志以及问卷收集的搜索体验进行了探索分析。[结论/发现]从交流内容上看,协同搜索用户主要理解与评判书目信息、商讨搜索任务计划;比起认知类型不同的用户,相同认知类型的用户在操作交互方面交流更多,在评判决策方面交流较少。交流模式依据讨论内容比重可分为理解评判型、评判主导型、均衡交流型三种,评判主导型用户的任务完成满意度最高。[创新/价值]协同搜索用户的交流反映出搜索过程中需要与同伴商讨协同的焦点,也是需要系统提供协助的重点,给协同搜索系统设计提供一定参考。本研究针对协同搜索的交流内容设计的编码系统对相关的协同交流研究也有借鉴意义。  相似文献

本文以拉斯韦尔的研究传统缺乏传承为切入点,重新解读了拉斯韦尔60年前发表的《社会传播的结构与功能》一文。提出目前传播学界以拉斯韦尔模式代替拉斯韦尔的传播观念,忽略了拉斯韦尔传播观念中丰富的内涵,建议要在完整的学术语境中理解它的内容。在讨论拉斯韦尔研究传统缺乏传承的问题时,本文认为其主要原因是过于追求对策研究,忽视了理论研究自身的规律,没有提出真正具有吸力力和理论价值的问题。  相似文献
