An urgent need for a relatively large number of qualified Putonghua language teachers in Hong Kong has led the Open University of Hong Kong to establish a distance education programme for in-service language teachers, most of whom are non-native speakers. The programme designed by the university involves distance study coupled with regular face-to-face tutorials, and is designed to enable the in-service teachers to apply their learned knowledge directly in their daily teaching. The article explains how evaluation of the first presentation of the course in 1996 showed that the course alone could not fully address the actual deficiencies in the teachers' Putonghua listening and speaking skills while, additionally, there was also a need to restructure the teaching methodology component of the course. The basis upon which these judgements were made is explained, and the steps taken to strengthen the course to meet these perceived deficiencies, while not adding to the students' workload, are outlined.  相似文献

香港高校自2012年起推行四年新学制以及新的课程架构,其特点为:(1)课程理念与目标已经超出传统学术与智性发展范畴,开始融入与共通能力、态度有关的元素。(2)课程架构以必修课与分布选修结合为主要特征。分布选修的范畴围绕人文与艺术、社会与文化、科学与技术三大知识领域展开,必修科目的内容存在明显差异,有的大学围绕智性探究,有的大学还在智性探究范畴之外增加语言沟通、共通技能、统整融合的元素。(3)课程内容超越知识探究,关注当代社会重要议题以及未来生活需具备的能力与素质。(4)课程发展采取成果为本方法。(5)建立完善的质素保证机制,对通识课程进行定期检讨,从不同渠道搜集持份者意见,对通识课程、教学做出持续改进。  相似文献

Teachers’ negative emotions began to receive attention in the Hong Kong context in the mid-1990s. As negative emotions may affect both teachers’ well-being and the quality of their teaching, Hong Kong education policy-makers and educators have used psychological approaches to determine the reasons why teachers experience negative feelings. However, these approaches fail to accommodate the social causes of negative emotions. Therefore, this study investigates the possible social causes of teachers’ negative emotions from the perspective of alienation theory. In-depth interviews with 21 teachers in Hong Kong reveal that Hong Kong teachers may be suffering from alienation (characterised by a sense of powerlessness, meaninglessness, isolation, and self-estrangement) due to their experiences of teaching, their employment status, and their structural position in schools, which are related to the occupational and organisational structure of teaching. The findings also indicate that patterns of alienation may differ between more and less experienced teachers.  相似文献

It goes on to describe a module, 'Personal and Social Education', offered to all pre-service teachers in the Hong Kong Institute of Education which aims at equipping trainee teachers to carry out the guidance role of a teacher in the context of Hong Kong, particularly in the role of a class teacher. This article is an exploration of the emerging narratives on learning and teacher education in the United States and Hong Kong, as found in official policy statements and curriculum documents. Particular attention is given to Hong Kong's initiative in implementing an interdisciplinary liberal studies curriculum, and the continued professional development of teachers for this proposed change. This recent trend is used to illustrate the possibilities for a broader vision of creating and substantiating knowledge and learning in teacher education programs in the United States.  相似文献

在教育全球化背景下,知识为本的高等教育培养模式已经不能适应现代社会对人才的需求,大学必须通过大胆的变革和创新来谋求新的发展。香港高校以成效为本的教育范式作为教育革新的手段,把课程作为引导学生发展的“跑道”,取得了成功。成效为本的课程强调以学生为中心,以目标为导向,以能力为本位,以学习成果为证据。香港高校基于成效为本的课程改革主要体现出四点特征:一是以培养高素质的现代人为目标,分层级实现目标;二是以权变的课程体系让学生获得全面均衡的学习经历;三是通过指向能力发展的、细化的课程学习目标来对学生的学习成效进行评估;四是为确保课程达到育人目标而赋予院校颁授的学术资格。这些实践经验对于我国开放大学制定人才培养目标、课程结构与内容设置、课程组织与实施、课程评估与质量保证具有借鉴意义。  相似文献

The university of education might be seen as a new type of university, which has emerged in recent decades in Asia, and which may be able to contribute both to teacher education and the needs of the knowledge society in new ways. This article begins with a historical overview of the development of universities and normal colleges in Western and Asian societies. It explores the value orientations of these two types of institution, and their links to the different historical periods in which they emerged. These contrasting value orientations are schematized in the second part of the paper, which addresses its core question: how can teacher education attain a level of excellence parallel to that of universities, while maintaining those values of the normal college that are relevant to the knowledge society? A comparative historical analysis of three Western and three Asian societies in the third part of the paper gives an overview of different ways in which this dilemma has been resolved. The fourth part then draws out four distinctive models of teacher education that have emerged historically, and evaluates them comparatively. The paper concludes with comparative reflections on teacher education in Singapore and Hong Kong, suggesting the model of a university of education as uniquely suited to the Hong Kong situation, and possibly only culturally viable in an Asian environment.  相似文献

This paper might be described as a case study, depicting the process of vision development for a new institution of teacher education, established in a time of political transition for Hong Kong. The focus is on issues of cultural identity, and the first part of the article lays out a framework for civilizational dialogue in the post Cold War period. Next the context of educational development is analysed, including the emergence of this new institution, and the demands placed upon it to support a range of educational reforms after Hong Kong's return to China in 1997. The third part of the paper describes the process of developing a vision statement, and the ideas that informed it. The fourth part provides a careful look at four of the nine guiding values chosen for the Institute, showing the particular shape they give to the development of the vision, and the ways in which they are linked to the dialogue of civilizations.  相似文献

The present study explores the environmental attitudes (EA) of senior high school students in Turkey, explains which determinant factors affect these EAs, and concludes with some suggestions for curricular reform. This study includes over nine hundred students from different school types, neighbourhoods, geographical regions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The researcher used two different questionnaires that were based on postmaterialist values: one based on the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) and the other developed by the researcher called the General Environmental Attitudes and Perceptions (GAP). The results of ANOVA and t‐tests show that EAs of students vary depending on school type, gender, parents' education levels, parents' political views, professions, and household income. Students at public high schools, females, lower middle class students, students with well educated parents in white‐collar professions, and students with liberal parents have more pro‐environmental attitudes than the others. Students from vocational schools, almost all of which are based on single‐sex education, have scored the lowest on both surveys.  相似文献

本文分析总结了回归十年来香港幼教改革和发展的四点经验(﹕1)改革未动﹐师训先行(。2)设立基金﹐资助科研。(3)三角架构﹐全面保障(。4)实施教育券制度﹐全面资助幼儿及幼儿园。据此得出六点重要启示(﹕1)发展幼教是政府不可推卸的责任(。2)经费投入是保证幼教健康发展的关键。(3)建构科学合理的幼教管治架构是保证幼教健康发展的前提(。4)将幼教推向市场并不意味着政府可以减少投入或完全不干预市场(。5)专家到园支持园本发展是教改成功的保障(。6)提供专业培训﹐提升教师素质是当务之急。最后,笔者展望内地幼教体制改革之路,指出当前内地幼教改革有四大急务(﹕1)明“确幼教是政府不可推卸的责任”(。2)保证政府对幼教的经费投入(。3)建构科学合理的幼教管治架构(。4)委托学术机构﹐开展科学研究和科学规划。  相似文献
