This study provides a historical overview of the development of the motion picture as a tool within the context of science education. The technology was traced from its beginning as a silent motion picture through its current manifestation in videotapes and videodiscs. In my search for my identity as an online teacher, I did an informal self-study to determine if my online classes are equivalent to my face-toface classes. I compared student work and student evaluations from 14 courses: seven online and seven face-to-face. When I compared the quality of student work from both formats, I found it indistinguishable. When I compared the type of comments on student evaluations, they were indistinguishable as well. There seemed to be no discernible difference between me as a face-toface teacher and me as an online teacher. Based on the students’ perceptions and coursework, their learning and enjoyment of learning did not seem to be tied to whether I was in the room with them or not.  相似文献

Based upon a nation wide campaign called Public Private Partnership—Schools in the Net (PPP-SiN) (Public Private Partnership—Schule im Netz (PPP-SiN), 2000) we were able to initiate an externally financed project of in-service teacher education. The paper describes the realization of this project. Reflections are given on why teachers hesitate to integrate ICT into their teaching. Media competencies are recognized to be key in this context. We reflect upon the following five questions:
  1. How do we educate the right thing as well as educate the right way?
  2. Which ambient conditions must be met?
  3. Which preliminary actions have to be taken and implemented?
  4. Which tools, methods and instruments do we need?
  5. How do we make sure that the transfer of learned knowledge will take place to find its way into successful teaching?

In an assessment of the relative importance of certain objectives for the teaching of science in primary schools, a high correlation was found between the views of a sample of experienced teachers and those of a sample of student teachers. The relative importance of the objectives, as judged by the rank order of the selections, is discussed in the light of recent developments in the teaching of science at primary school level.  相似文献
