耶鲁大学国际化战略研究——兼论2005与2009年国际化框架

随着政治经济全球化,耶鲁大学围绕建立"全球性大学"的国际化战略目标,先后制定了《耶鲁国际化:2005—2008框架》和《国际化框架——耶鲁议程2009—2012》。其国际化框架涵盖了多个方面,包括建立组织机构、开设国际化课程、加强师生交流、推动科研合作、完善后勤系统等。对其战略框架进行梳理、分析和总结,可以为我国高校国际化提供可借鉴的范例。     

提高我校留学生管理工作水平的对策分析

来华留学工作是我国高等教育事业的组成部分,在教育国际化竞争日益激烈的今天,做好来华留学工作对推动教育事业的改革和发展意义重大。然而近年来,我国的留学生管理工作却滞后于留学生教育事业的发展速度,来华留学生管理的理论研究成果也远远滞后于留学生管理实践工作的进展。笔者从高校内部留学生管理的角度提出了提高我校来华留学生管理工作水平的对策建议。     

The transition experiences of direct entrants from overseas higher education partners into UK universities

This two-year study was conducted to explore the experience of international direct-entry students making the transition from overseas higher education partners to a UK University. Using mainly qualitative data from forum discussion, focus-group interviews and face-to-face interviews with students and staff, we document how international direct-entry students cope with academic and social anxieties during their transition. The findings reveal that there are some similarities, such as language issues, which are experienced by most international students. However, this study has highlighted a distinguishing factor for direct-entry students which relates to the use of intra-networks to overcome their social anxieties. The exploratory analysis also indicates that international students entering directly into an academic programme at a later study stage face a steep learning curve and require additional support to adapt quickly to a UK educational system.     

The influence of institutional involvement in international education on United States students

This study is focused on the impact of international education upon United States students. The research question tested was: does the involvement of a US university in international education programs affect the international outlook of United States students? Seven concept areas were developed and tested on a randomly selected group of 663 United States senior students enrolled at six universities: Indiana University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Ohio State University, the University of Illinois at Urbana, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. The analysis of variance tests used indicated that for the most part the involvement of a university in international education programs does make a difference in the international outlook of United States students.     

Planning for the Internationalization of a Postgraduate Professional Degree Programme in Library and Information Science

The School of Library and Information Science of the University of South Florida, that has been a pioneer in distance education, has decided to internationalize its offerings with Ibero-America in mind. This article describes some of the steps the School has taken in order to prepare itself for the challenges, particularly cultural and linguistic ones, posed by international students. Given that the level of performance of both traditional and distance students seems to be about identical, the School of Library and Information Service is looking forward to a successful and culturally enriching experience.     

International students: a vulnerable student population

This study examines the experiences of international students at The University of Toledo, where international students comprise approximately 10% of the student population. It highlights problems international students experience such as adapting to a new culture, English language problems, financial problems and lack of understanding from the broader University community. Recommendations for improvement include initiatives to raise the profile of international students, improved financial assistance and scholarships, and creating opportunities for international students to improve their spoken English skills.     

关于华侨高校扩大境外生源的思考

从院校研究的角度,认为在全球化背景下,高等教育的国际化趋势为华侨高等教育的发展提供了新的发展空间。论述了以华侨大学、暨南大学为主体的大陆华侨高等教育所具有的高等教育国际化的特征以及初步形成的境外生招生体系,认为应该积极参与国际高等教育竞争,努力扩大海外生源,为华文教育事业的发展做出应有的贡献。     

Funding international student support services: tension and power in the university

This case study aims to contribute some understanding as to why a research oriented university with many thousands of full-fee paying international students was believed not to provide adequate funds for international student support services. Drawing on Bourdieu’s notions of fields of power and disciplinary hierarchy, we suggest that the University must allocate resources amongst competing claimants. In the associated internal contest for resources, international student support divisions and disciplines with little intellectual capital but great capacity to attract international students have relatively little bargaining power. This study indicates that the need to build and sustain research reputation led to inadequate funding of support services in an Australian institution heavily reliant on international student income. Ironically, this can mean students who choose a highly ranked university may not receive the support services they require.     

Yugoslav Universities and Inter‐University International Co‐Operation

Inter‐university international co‐operation is very strongly favoured by the Yugoslav government as part of its overall policy of nonalignment. Numerous bilateral and multilateral projects are being pursued by the Union of Universities of Yugoslavia and by individual Yugoslav universities. The sponsorship of the “University Today” International Seminar by the Union is one manifestation of this policy as is the encouragement which it gives its member universities to join appropriate international university associations, including regional ones. Currently, the Union is favouring the increased international exchange of students. The internationalization of universities opens them to the most progressive and advanced tendencies in teaching and in research.     

The Idea of an International University Reshaped by Students: An Ethnographic Study in a Chinese University

This paper presents how students reshaped the idea of an international university offered to them. The findings derive from participant observation ethnographic fieldwork carried out at Fudan University in China. The analysis proves that the idea of an “international university” offered to Fudan University students was double-edged in the sense that it both cultivated and screened international talent. Students reshaped their university by manipulating or “twisting” the screening process when applying for short-term study abroad programs, on the one hand, and creating cultivating “devices” within the university, namely student-initiated associations on the other hand. The findings of this paper add a new aspect to the idea of the “international university” from students’ perspective and turn the spotlight on students as active builders of their university.     

“2＋1＂学制下“国际金融”课程教学改革的探索

时值乐山师范学院推行“2＋1”学期制改革措施之际,国际金融作为一门理论性和可操作性兼备的学科,应该利用该次契机对传统的只注重理论的教学模式进行改革。文章通过问卷调查揭示出目前“国际金融”课程教学过程中存在的问题,提出了教改的总体思路和具体的建议,以期培养出综合性应用型人才,满足社会发展的需求。     

研究型大学国际化发展的实践与探索

国际化是研究型大学发展的必然趋势。文章通过对我国研究型大学在办学理念、师资队伍、学生、科学研究、课程、合作办学等方面国际化的探索和实践的调研,对研究型大学国际化发展模式进行了归纳总结,对存在的不足进行了分析,并对高校加快国际化进程提出了政策建议。     

新工科背景下电气工程专业来华留学生人才培养模式研究

新科技与产业革命对工程科技人才提出更高要求,传统电气专业留学生的培养模式亟待改革和创新。文章基于三峡大学电气工程来华留学生个体特征和跨文化差异性,提出基于专业大类/平台培养的电气工程留学生培养新模式,以培养出多元化、创新型工程人才,提高国际化教育水平,适应新工科背景下国际化人才需求。     

来华留学生、港澳台生的学校认同现状——基于福建师范大学海外教育学院的调查数据

以福建师范大学海外教育学院的本科生为研究群体,运用《大学生学校认同问卷》了解、探讨本科生中的来华留学生、港澳台生、普通本科生对学校的认同现状及其影响因素。结果显示,福建师范大学海外教育学院来华留学生、港澳台生的学校认同总体状况较好;来华留学生、港澳台生与普通本科生在学校认同总分上无显著性差异,但在具体维度上仍有显著的差异。在群体认知维度上,来华留学生与港澳台生显著低于普通本科生;在情感依恋维度和自主行为维度上,来华留学生与港澳台生则显著高于普通本科生;来华留学生与港澳台生的学校认同在性别和所就读年级这两个人口学变量上不存在显著差异;学习时长不满1 a的来华留学生与港澳台生的学校认同显著低于其他分组;来自港澳台地区的学生在学校认同的群体认知上显著低于东南亚国家留学生。     

THE EXPERIENCE AND THE PROJECTS OF THE DRESDEN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY WITH REGARD TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE

The Dresden University of Technology takes part in various international student exchange programmes as part of the overall policy of the German Democratic Republic in favour of international understanding and co‐operation. Various kinds of student exchange and travel programmes are offered, and the ambition of the university is to generalize them so that all graduates will have completed some of their academic work abroad. The author cites the example of his institution's programme of promotion classes for talented students as being particularly valuable for the involvement of research‐oriented honours students in exchange projects. Yet he also argues that average students too should be involved in student exchanges.     

新升本科院校留学生生活学习状况调查研究——以黄山学院为例

随着“汉语热”和来华留学生教育的发展,外国留学生在中国的生活学习问题越来越受到关注.为分析来华留学生的生活学习状态,针对黄山学院外国留学生进行了问卷调查.在调查分析的基础上指出当前新升本科院校留学生管理与服务方面普遍存在的问题,提出解决对策.     

南京大学国际化野外实践教学的探索与实践

南京大学国际化野外实践教学从2006年开始启动,4年来开展了贝加尔湖综合科考、阿尔卑斯科学考察以及南京大学-加州理工学院天山联合野外实习等教学项目,实习地点都是世界著名的典型实习场地,实践教学指导教师师资力量雄厚,整个实习过程突出体现＂研究性＂教学和学科交叉。通过开展国际化野外实践教学,提高了南京大学的国际声誉,培养了学生的创新能力、实践能力以及团队协作精神,锻炼了学生与不同文化背景、不同学科领域研究者的合作能力。     

文化休克现象对非洲安哥拉留学生学习的影响——以长沙理工大学为例

文化休克现象是留学生在跨文化交际中普遍存在的一种现象,它影响着留学生的学习。随着长沙理工大学外国语学院留学生教育工作的不断发展,留学生中的文化休克现象日益受到重视。基于此,以长沙理工大学安哥拉留学生为例,分析文化休克对土木专业留学生学习的影响,并提出为解决文化休克问题,提高管理和教学效果应采取的对策。     

New patterns in higher education cross-cultural learning: The case of a postgraduate english instruction program in China

This paper explores new patterns of learning across cultures in higher education through a case study of a cohort of international graduate students at a university in Chinese mainland. North University (NU) has hosted international students in its Chinese language and culture programs for decades. However, between 2008 and 2010, a new Master’s degree program for international students was established. This attracted 75 graduate students from different disciplinary backgrounds, from 21 developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Oceania. English is the common language to both students and faculty, but a foreign language to all. This program marks a significant shift for China’s higher education as it reaches out to the world. The paper describes this cohort’s lived experiences in China, including academic, linguistic and sociocultural learning. It analyzes the challenges such programs pose for the Chinese higher education system, explores how these challenges have become opportunities for growth and how barriers have been overcome. It also discusses the implications of this case for the upgrading of higher education quality in China.     

汉语国际教育硕士课堂教学能力培养策略--基于X大学的案例分析

国际汉语热和汉语国际推广的迅猛发展对汉语国际教育硕士培养提出了更高的要求：汉语国际教育硕士不仅要具有丰富的专业知识,而且要具有较强的课堂教学能力,以符合对外汉语课堂教学的要求。文章对 X大学的部分汉语国际教育硕士进行问卷调查,分析了汉语国际教育硕士课堂教学能力的培养现状及存在问题,提出了提升当前汉语国际教育硕士课堂教学能力的一些建议和对策。
