For most open universities,in fact for most universities,there will arise occasions when some online activities will have to be completed by all students in a very short time interval.These occasions usually result in a great rush to get online as quickly as possible;the rush is often made worst by the limited good choices on offer such that usually only the earliest can get the best.Choosing and confirming elective subjects,when only a limited number for each are offered,on a first-come-first-served basis is an example. At the Open University Malaysia the rush occurs when confirming offered subjects and choosing face-to-face meeting timetable.Most students rushed to be earliest to ensure choice slots in the timetable are obtained. Available I.T.resources such as Internet bandwidth and servers cannot cope with these short-term sustained peak demands.Unless these peak demands are met,however,online services will slow down drastically resulting in long queues of users waiting to be served.Providing excess capacity,if at all possible,to ensure these short duration peak demands can be met would not be cost-effective since most of the time these resources are not utilised.This paper will look at some cost-effective approaches to meeting these short-term peak demands.  相似文献

Based on the region model of lambda bipolar transistor ( LBT), a dividing region theory model of PLBT is set up.simulated and verified. Firstly, the principal operations of different kinds of photoelectronic lambda bipolar transistor ,( PLBT) are characterized by a simple circuit model. Through mathematical analysis of the equivalent circuit, the typical characteristics curve is divided into positive resistance, peak, negative resistance and cutoff regions. Secondly. by analyzing and simulating this model, the ratio of MOSFET width to channel length, threshold voltage and common emitter gain are discovered as the main structure parameters that determine the characteristic curves of PLBT. And peak region width, peak current value, negative resistance value and valley voltage value of PLBT can be changed conveniently according to the actual demands by modifying these parameters. Finally comparisons of the characteristics of the fabricated devices and the simulation results are made, which show that the analytical results are in agreement with the observed devices characteristics.  相似文献

Using SnxTi1-xO2 as carriers, CuO/Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and CuO/Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 catalysts with different loading amounts of copper oxide (CuO) were prepared by an impregnation method. The catalytic properties of CuO/Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and CuO/Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 were examined using a microreactor-gas chromatography (GC) NO CO reaction system and the methods of BET (Brun- auer-Emmett-Teller), TG-DTA (themogravimetric and differential thermal analysis), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and H2-temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The results showed that NO conversions of Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 were 47.2% and 43.6% respectively, which increased to 95.3% and 90.9% at 6 wt% CuO loading. However, further increase in CuO loading caused a decrease in the catalytic activity. The nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm and pore-size distribution curve of Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 represented type IV of the BDDT (Brunauer, Deming, Deming and Teller) system and a typical mesoporous sample. There were two CuO diffraction peaks (2θ 35.5° and 38.7°), and the diffraction peak areas increased with increasing CuO loading. TPR analysis also detected three peaks (α, β and γ) from the CuO-loaded catalysts, suggesting that the α peak was the reduction of the highly dispersed copper oxide, the β peak was the reduction of the isolated copper oxide, and the γ peak was the reduction of crystal phase copper oxide. In addition, a fourth peak (δ) of the catalysts meant that the SnxTi1-xO2 mixed oxides could be reductive.  相似文献

Thin-walled tubes are extensively applied in engineering, especially in vehicle structures to resist axial or traversal impact loads, for their excellent energy absorbing capacity. However, in the axial deformation mode, the force history has an extremely high peak force which may bring not only fatal injury to occupants but also damage to structures, cargo and environment. Aiming to develop energy absorbers with impact-force modificator, square metal tube with force modificator is investigated which can monitor the force-deformation history of the tube. A small device is designed to serve as an impact-force modificator, which introduces desired imperfections to the square tube just before the impact happens between the impactor and the tube, so as to reduce the peak force. Prototypes with various governing parameters were manufactured and tested both quasi-statically and dynamically to study the effects of these parameters on the characteristics of energy absorption. The results show that the force modificator can achieve the desired reduction of the peak force well whilst remaining the specific energy absorption capacity of the original square tube. With future improvements, it could be applied to vehicles or roadside safety hardware to mitigate the consequences produced by traffic accidents.  相似文献

Numerical simulation of TNT underwater explosion was carried out with AUTODYN soft-ware. Influences of artificial viscosity and mesh density on simulation results were discussed. Deto-nation waves in explosive and shock wave in water during early time of explosion are high frequency waves. Fine meshes (less than 1 mm) in explosive and water nearby, and small linear viscosity co-efficients and quadratic viscosity coefficients (0.02 and 0.1 respectively, 1/10 of default values) are needed in numerical simulation model. According to these rules, numerical computing pressure profiles can match well with those calculated by Zamyshlyayev empirical formula. Otherwise peak pressure would be smeared off and upstream relative errors would be cumulated downstream to make downstream peak pressure lower.  相似文献

To study the internal blast load, a lot of small scale internal blast experiments have been conducted. For those experiments, the influence of explosive density generally was not taken into account while it was simple to have slight density differences in application. To analyze the influence of explosive density on small scale internal blast experiments, the finite element code LS-DYNA was employed and the numerical model was established. The numerical model was validated against published experimental data and the result shows a good agreement. We found that that both the peak overpressure and impulse increase with the density of charge. Empirical equations were fitted using the calculation results to evaluate the influence of explosive density on the peak overpressures and impulses.  相似文献

Introducing a superintense femtosecond laser pulse in the muon-catalyzed fusion (μCF) target, taking the mixture after fusion reaction as a overdense plasma, and based on the Newton classical equations, the paper studies the movement of muon in the plasma. Muon drift along the direction of laser propagation remains even at the end of the laser pulse. At the peak laser intensity of 1021 W/cm^2, muon goes from the skin layer into field-free matter in a short time much less than the pulse duration, before the laser pulse reaches its peak value. According to the calculated results, when the laser intensity reaches 1023 W/cm^2, the relativistic muon drift should be considered. Influence of the laser on other particles in the plasma is small. Hence, this method can avoid muon sticking to alpha effectively and reduce muon-loss probability in μCF:  相似文献

This paper discusses fabrication and performance of novel circular spiral inductors on silicon. The substrate materials underneath the inductor coil are removed by wet etching process. In the fabrication process, fine polishing of the photoresist is used to simplify the processes and ensure perfect contact between the seed layer and the top of pillars. Dry etching technique is used to remove the seed layer. The results show that Q-factor of the inductor is greatly improved by removing silicon underneath the inductor coil. The spiral inductor with line width of 50 μm has a peak Q-factor of 10 for the inductance of 2.5 nH at frequency of 1 GHz, and the resonance frequency of the inductor is about 8.5 GHz. For the inductor of conductor width 80 μm, the peak Q-factor increases to about 17 for inductance of 1.5 nH in the frequency range of 0.05 -3.00 GHz.  相似文献

A cognitive relay network model is proposed, which is defined by a source, a destination, a cognitive relay node and a primary user. The source is assisted by the cognitive relay node which is allowed to coexist with the primary user by imposing severe constraints on the transmission power so that the quality of service of the primary user is not degraded by the interference caused by the secondary user. The effect of the cognitive relay node on the proposed cognitive relay network model is studied by evaluating the outage probability under interference power constraints for different fading environments. A relay transmission scheme, namely, decode-and-forward is considered. For both the peak and average interference power constraints, the closed-form outage expressions are derived over different channel fading models. Finally, the analytical outage probability expressions are validated through simulations. The results indicate that the proposed model has better outage probability than direct transmission. It is also found that the outage probability decreases with the increase of interference power constraints. Meanwhile, the outage probability under the average interference power constraint is much less than that under the peak interference power constraint when the average interference power constraint is equal to the peak interference power constraint.  相似文献

The loads of shock wave effect on fabricated anti-blast wall and distribution law around the wall were investigated by using near surface explosion test method and FEM. The pressure-time histories and variety law on the foreside and backside of the anti-blast wall were adopted in the tests of variety of different explosion distances and dynamites, as well as in the comparison between the test and numeri-cal calculation. The test results show that the loads of shock wave effect on the anti-blast wall were es-sen-tially consistent with calculation results using criterion under surface explosion when explosion dis-tances exceed 2 m, the distribution of overpressure behind wall was gained according to variety law based on small-large-small. It is also demonstrated that the peak overpressure behind wall had com-monly appeared in wall height by 1.5—2.5 multiples, and the peak overpressures of protective building behind wall could be reduced effectively by using the fabricated anti-blast wall.  相似文献

For preparing fluorinated quinolone antibiotic medicine locally used in stomatology, simultaneous determination of norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, and enoxacin was carried out by multiphase ion chromatography with fluorescence detection. Quinolone antibiotics were separated by Dionex OmniPac PAX-500 column with an eluent of 15 mmol/L H2SO4 and 35% methanol (v/v) at a flow-rate of 1.0 ml/min and detected with fluorescence with excitation and emission wave lengths of 347 ran and 420 ran respectively. The detection limits (S/N=3) of norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin and enoxacin were 50, 105 and 80 ng/ml respectively. The relative standard deviations of retention time, peak area and peak height were less than 1.1% and good linear relationship resulted. The developed method was applied to pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids.  相似文献

Antenna is very crucial to radiotelemetry capsules which can measure the physiological parameters of the gastroin- testinal (GI) tract. The objective of this paper is to design a novel spiral slots microstrip patch antenna for the radiotelemetry capsules communicating with external recorder at 915 MHz located in ISM (Industry, Science, and Medical) bands. The microstrip patch antenna is designed and evaluated using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Return loss characteristics and the effect of the human body on resonant frequency are analyzed, and the performances of radiation patterns at different positions of the human alimentary tract are also estimated. Finally, specific absorption rate (SAR) computations are performed, and the peak 1-g and 10-g SAR values are calculated. According to the peak SAR values, the maximum delivered power for the designed antenna was found so that the SAR values of the antenna satisfy the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) limitations.  相似文献

The seismic performance of four short concrete columns was investigated under low cycle and repeated loads, including the failure characteristics, hysteretic behavior, rigidity degeneracy and steel-bar stress. The influences of reinforcement strength, stirrup ratio and shear span ratio were also compared. Test results reveal that the restriction effect of stirrups can improve the peak stress, so the bearing capacity of specimen can be improved; for the high-strength short concrete column with high-strength stirrups, it was more reasonable to use ultimate displacement angle to reflect the ductility of the specimen, and the yield strength of high-strength stirrups should be devalued when calculating the stirrup characteristic value; the seismic performance of short column would be improved with the increase of volume–stirrup ratio and shear span ratio;the high-strength stirrups and high-strength longitudinal reinforcements did not yield when the load acting on the specimen reached the peak value, which brought adequate safety stock to these short columns.  相似文献

The uniaxial ratcheting behavior of a polyetherimide (PEI) polymer 'TECAPEI' was studied using stress-controlled cyclic loading at room temperature, including both cyclic tension-compression with non-zero tensile mean stress and tension- unloading tests. The experimental observations were focused on the time-dependent ratcheting of the PEI polymer revealed in cyclic tests at diverse stress rates and with different peak stress holding times. The results showed that the PEI polymer shows obvious ratcheting deformation; i.e., the ratcheting strain accumulates progressively in the tensile direction during stress- controlled cyclic tests with non-zero mean stress. The ratcheting is highly dependent on the applied mean stress and stress am-plitude, and is also characterized by a strong time-dependency during the cyclic stressing at diverse stress rates and with different peak stress holding times. The time-dependent ratcheting of the PEI polymer is caused mainly by its remarkable viscosity. A comparison of the ratcheting occurring before and beyond the ultimate stress point of the PEI polymer showed that the ratcheting beyond the ultimate stress point is more significant than that occurring before that point.  相似文献
