Study on the effect of doxorubicin on expressions of genes encoding myocardial sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ transport proteins and the effect of taurine on myocardial protection in rabbits

To investigate the effect of doxorubicin(DOX) on gene expression of the myocardial sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR)Ca2+ transport proteins and the mechanism of taurine(Tau) protecting cardiac muscle cells, 9 rabbits were injected with DOX , 8 rabbits with DOX and Tau, and 9 rabbits with normal saline. Cardiac function , concentration of calcium in cardiomyocytes (Myo[Ca2+]i), activity of SR Ca2+-ATPase(SERCA2a), level of SERCA2a mRNA and Ca2+ released channels(RYR2)mRNA were detected. The left ventricle tissues were observed by electron microscopy. The results showed that cardiac index, left ventricular systolic pressure, activity of SR Ca2+-ATPase and level of SERCA2a mRNA decreased , while Myo[Ca2+]i increased in DOX-treated rabbits. DOX could not affect the level of RYR2 mRNA. Tau intervention could alleviate the increase of left ventricular diastolic pressure, Myo[Ca2+]i and the decrease of SERCA2a mRNA induced by doxorubicin. The results suggested that downregulation of SERCA2a gene expression was an important mechanism of DOX-induced cardiomyopathy and that Tau could partially improve the heart function by reducing calcium overload and alleviating downregulation of SERCA2a mRNA.

Estrogen receptor expression in adrenocortical carcinoma

Objective: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare but highly malignant tumor, and its diagnosis is mostly delayed and prognosis is poor. We report estrogen receptor (ER) expression in this tumor and our clinical experiences with 17 ACC cases. Methods: The data of the 17 patients (9 females and 8 males, age range from 16 to 69 years, mean age of 42.6 years) with ACC were reviewed, and symptoms, diagnostic procedures, treatment, and results of follow-up were evaluated. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect ER expression in tumor samples from the 17 patients. Results: At the time of diagnosis, 4 tumors were classified as Stage Ⅰ, 4 as Stage Ⅱ, 3 as Stage Ⅲ, and 6 as Stage Ⅳ. Eight patients demonstrated positive nuclear immunostaining of ER. The prognosis of patients with ER positive was significantly better (P<0.05) than that of patients with ER negative, with 1- and 5-year survival rates at 86% and 60% for ER-positive patients, and 38% and 0% for ER-negative patients, respectively. Conclusion: ER-positivity may be one of the factors associated with a worse prognosis of ACC.     

掺Ca~( )高氯酸铵爆燃特性的研究

以“统一模型”为理论基础,利用高速摄影机,对掺与不掺 Ｃａ＋＋之高氨酸铵（ＡＰ）晶体在带透明窗燃速仪中的爆燃进行了观测、分析,并初步讨论了Ｃａ＋＋的掺入对ＡＰ凝相反应的作用机理．研究表明,Ｃａ＋＋的掺入使ＡＰ晶体在固体火箭发动机经常工作的压强范围内压强指数降低,并在某一压强区段（实验中为７～８．５ＭＰａ）压强指数出现负值,这为进一步完善“统一模型”提供了依据,为负压强指数推进剂的研制和进一步降低硝胺／ＡＰ复合推进剂的压强指数提供了新的途径．     

A Literature Review of EFL Extensive Reading and Its Implementation in China

Extensive reading(ER) is regarded as an essential way of language input for learners in EFL teaching context. Due to various practical factors, the implementation of ER instruction in China is still far from being satisfactory. With an elaboration on the definition and pedagogical significance of ER, this paper unveils several major problems existing in the Chinese university English ER instruction and proposes respective solutions.

时序进入新的世纪,中国现代文学研究必须作出相应的调整.首先,应该具备将现当代文学打通的整体意识,将它们贯穿起来研究;其次,应该侧重宏观的、新视野的研究,取代以往所偏重的微观作品研究;第三,加强美学方面的研究,淡化传统的文化和还原式研究.     

Teachers’ motivations for master’s degree programs in education in Israeli teacher training institutions and the implications for government policy-making concerning those programs

ABSTRACT

The study aimed to identify teachers’ motivations to study Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs offered by teachers’ training colleges. M.Ed. degree programs have become available in Israel since 2004, with a rapid increase since then in the number of colleges offering various programs and a consequent increase in the number of graduates. M.Ed. degrees follow one of two teaching approaches: (1) top-down/transmission of knowledge (2) bottom-up transformative studies to support teachers’ professional autonomy. The first approach complies with the policy of the Council for Higher Education (CHE). The other is promoted by the Israeli Ministry of Education as an integral part of teachers’ professional development. The study’s methodology included examining data from multiple sources: documentation concerning the academic programs, government policy statements, and surveys administered to teachers who had graduated successfully from M.Ed. programs over the past decade and are now working in the field. We found that after the first decade of M.Ed. courses in Israel, significantly more programs incline towards the bottom-up/transformative approach, aiming to promote individual, personal and professional development instead of adopting the transmission approach. Teachers prefer M.Ed. programs at universities that include research. Yet their motivation to study is primarily intrinsic motivation, whether they aspire to study at universities or at teachers’ training colleges. Results are pertinent for government planning of teachers’ professional development. Further study into the needs of teachers is required to endorse these conclusions.

Synthesized Multi-Method to Detect and Classify Epileptic Waves in EEG

In order to sufficiently exploit the advantages of different signal processing methods, such as wavelet transformation (WT), artificial neural networks (ANN) and expert rules (ER), a synthesized multi-method was introduced to detect and classify the epileptic waves in the EEG data. Using this method, at first, the epileptic waves were detected from pre-processed EEG data at different scales by WT, then the characteristic parameters of the chosen candidates of epileptic waves were extracted and sent into the well-trained ANN to identify and classify the true epileptic waves,and at last, the detected epileptic waves were certificated by ER. The statistic results of detection and classification show that, the synthesized multi-method has a good capacity to extract signal features and to shield the signals from the random noise. This method is especially fit for the analysis of the biomedical signals in biomedical engineering which are usually non-placid and nonlinear.     

Review of Research on Learning and Instruction with Specific Reference to Reading Chinese as an Additional Language (1976-2018)

This review, which can be seen as a scoping review, highlights 92 empirical studies about the learning and instruction of reading Chinese as an additional language (CAL) published in English between 1976 and 2018. It first identifies and evaluates the trends of CAL reading research over the past four decades, including the developmental trajectory of the field, topics that are hot versus those not-so-hot, populations that are widely studied versus under studied, research methods adopted in the selected studies, and the most widely cited articles. Second, the review examines direct evidence that supports effective practices of CAL reading instruction and explores two tracks of studies: high-evidence versus low-evidence practices. This review concludes with thoughts on the future directions of CAL reading research inspired by trends in the areas of literacy, second language acquisition (SLA), and teaching Chinese as a second/foreign language (TSCL/TCFL). To be specific, there is a need for the field to pay equal attention to learning to read and reading to learn.     

慢性酒精中毒对大鼠腺垂体内分泌细胞超微结构的影响

目的 :观察慢性酒精中毒大鼠腺垂体内分泌细胞超微结构变化 ;方法 :选用健康成年wistar大鼠 ,以 2 0 %白酒代替饮水 ,制备慢性酒精中毒模型。八周后断头处死 ,取腺垂体组织 ,常规制备超薄切片 ,铀 -铅染色 ,透射电镜观察。结果 :电镜下 :模型组较正常对照组各种内分泌细胞凋亡小体常见 ,细胞核大多变得不规则 ,异染色质团块增多。高尔基体减少 ,线粒体肿胀、嵴紊乱、消失甚至膜破裂。内质网扩张 ,分泌颗粒电子密度降低或低电子密度颗粒增多。结论 :慢性酒精中毒引起大鼠腺垂体内分泌细胞不同程度的超微病理改变 ,是造成中毒大鼠内分泌功能紊乱的直接原因。

20世纪90年代以来。中小企业在各国经济发展中的战略地位逐渐显现出来。但由于观念、条件、经营水平等原因。融资十分困难。通过融资渠道分析可以看出，由于创新型中小企业的特殊性，建立和完善直接融资体系，逐步推进风险投资和创业板市场建设，建立直接和间接两种融资方式相互协调的机制。才能促进创新型中小企业健康持续发展。     

雌激素受体(ER)与基因蛋白(P53、erbB-2)在胃癌中表达的研究

目的:探讨ER、erbB-2和P53在胃癌表达及相关性。方法:取胃癌手术标本119例,SP免疫组织化学染色。结果:ER、erbB-2和P53在胃癌表达率分别为63.87％,75.51％和73.11％;三者同时阳性者31.93％;ER与P53同时阳性者37.82％;ER与erbB-2同时阳性者33.61％;ER在高分化组阳性率高于低分化组(P<0.05);而erbB-2和P53在低分化组阳性率高于高分化组。70岁以上组P53、ER和erbB-2表达率均较高。结论:ER、P53和erbB-2在胃癌中表达率与癌瘤分化程度相关。P53和erbB-2有相关性,而且它们是胃癌预后不良的指标。     

Rate of pozzolanic reaction of two kinds of activated coal gangue

Two kinds of activated ways are used to prepare activated coal gangue fine powder, one is calcining coal gangue
at 800 ℃ (gangue A), and the other is calcining coal gangue with a certain calcite at 800 ℃ (gangue B). The experiment
shows that strengths of blended cement mortar with coal gangue B are higher than that of blended cement with coal gangue
A. Hydration of cements with the two kinds of activated coal gangue is investigated through a differential thermal analysis.
The weight loss due to Ca(OH)2 decomposition of hydration products by differential thermal analysis/thermo gravimetric
(DTA/TG) can be used to quantify the pozzolanic reaction. A new method based on the composition of hydration cement is
proposed to determine the degree of pozzolanic reaction. The results obtained suggest that the degree of pozzolanic reaction
of gangue B is faster than that of gangue A.     

Critical Religious Education (CRE) in practice: evaluating the reception of an introductory scheme of work

Critical Religious Education (CRE) is a contemporary pedagogy of religious education developed by Andrew Wright and various colleagues over the past two decades. There has been widespread academic discourse about the pedagogy in theory but increasingly commentators have called for examples of it in practice. Over the past seven years a writing group associated with The Forum of Religious and Spiritual Education at King’s College London have been developing practical materials aimed at supporting teachers in embedding the pedagogy in practice. Of particular relevance to this paper is the development of an introductory scheme of work, aimed at year 7 students, which has been trialled in a number of schools in and around London. In 2013, focus group interviews took place in four of these schools in order to ascertain the reception that the materials had received. The data suggests a very positive response to the introductory scheme of work and the CRE approach in general, partially dispelling some criticisms levelled at it in academic discourse. The author has thus suggested that the approach and the work of the writing group need further exposure, especially in schools, at conferences and on initial teacher education programmes.     

Average SNR of maximum ratio transmission with selection combining

Two kinds of selection combining schemes including generalized selection combining （GSC） and generalized order selection combining （GOSC） are investigated. In the GSC scheme, L strongest diversity branches from a total of R diversity branches are selected and coherently combined by maximal ratio combining. GOSC means that the Lth strongest diversity branch from R diversity branches is selected for reception. Closed-form expressions for the average signal-to-noise ratios of maximum ratio transmission with GSC and GOSC are derived in Rayleigh fading channels.
