Snow Queen There,in the market place, some of the boldest of the boys tied their sledges to the carts as they passed by so that they were pulled along and got a good ride.It was so capital! Just as they were in the very height of their amusement,a large sledge passed by them.It was painted quite white, and there was someone in it wrapped up in a rough white mantle of fur, with a rough  相似文献

Too clever by half is not a phrase used much in current management thinking, but it lurks beneath the surface of all modern organisations. One of the more interesting conclusions reached by the Japanese investigators of the nuclear accident at Tokaimura is that the technicians responsible for the processes at the plant let their high 1Qs get in the way of common sense. In their single-mindedness about cutting through inefficiencies that were blocking the plant's productivity, they lost touch with the overriding need to put safety first.  相似文献

The early immigrants of American were English Puritans who settled down in northeast part. Rough as the environment was, they believed that it could purify their mind. From 1607 to 1892, frontiers were pushed further west. They had been looking for a land of rich resources as well as a land of promise, opportunity and freedom. Actually they were in search for a better life. So individualism, self-reliance, and equality of opportunity have perhaps been the values closely associated with the frontier heritage of American. The greatness that the frontiers achieved, in a way, is due to their strong religions, which is so powerful that is beyond our understanding. Who know what miracles, they can achieve. There is a good example to prove this. It is rehgion that Moses led the Israelites out of their bondage in Egypt, and led the children of Israel out of the Egypt.  相似文献

正Shared Passion One day two teenagers, who hadn’t seen each other since primary school, met at a railway station on the way to college. One was carrying some blues records under his arm,and they began talking about the music and so began a lifelong friendship. In a club they got talking to a guitarist, who asked them if they wanted to join a band he was forming. They found a place to practice and recruited a drummer and a bass player. The group, which was named after a song title, played their first gig and were soon attracting a loyal following.Their first album contained mostly covers, but soon they were writing their own material.Within two years they had their first number one hit;within five they were millionaires.Popular Pastime This could be the story of any number of bands in the last five decades, although it happens to be the Rolling Stones.Whether it is playing in a group, joining a choir or being part of an orchestra,music-making in Britain has always been a very social activity. And  相似文献

Laboratory work educates students about the "processes of science". But it is suggested that students' learning level is low because of limited application of science processes in their laboratory work. Extraction experiment was chosen as the topic since it allows students to apply many of their basic chemistry knowledge, and it can be readily to gain understanding of scientific proceses required for an investigation. This study has been carried out with 40 students who are in the first year of Science Teaching Division at Trakya University, Faculty of Education. These students were divided into two groups of the experimental group and the control group, each group containing 20 students. The students of the experimental group were given knowledge about basic scientific process skills, and a procedure in detail to follow was given. But the students of the control group was given a standard procedure. The students of both groups were asked about what and why they did while they were performing the laboratory investigation. We observed that the experimental group students used the basic process skills, understood the extraction experiment, and realized what and why they did from this activity better than the control group students. The control group students did not know why they did laboratory work and they tended to focus on completing the task rather than learning from it. We considered that the experience would be helpful for students to improve scientific process skills if the students successfully acquired procedural understanding. Students" scientific processskills will develop as long as they use the skills.  相似文献

NOVEMBER 17th is an important day for black cats in Italy. An animal rights (权益) group has named that day as "Black Cat Day" to stop the killing of thousands of the black cats. Why do people hate the animal so much? It is because people believe black cats bring bad luck if they walk across your path.  相似文献

<正>An open secret about innovation is that most great breakthroughs don’t happen thanks to a single lone genius. While history is full of stories of famous inventors, who are often national heroes, in almost every case they were just the first people to improve an existing system to the final stage where it achieved great successes.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the endosonographic appearance of gastric linitis plastica(GLP) and to study the usefulness of endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS) for the T and N staging of GLP.EUS examinations of 55 patients with histologically proven GLP were retrospectively studied. In all patients,EUS showed that lesions involved at least one-third of the circumference of the stomach.Based on the findings of the EUS,the 55 patients were divided into two groups. There were 32(58.2%) patients in the first group.EUS of this group showed that the five sonographic layers had disappeared and had been replaced by a hypoechogenic thickening of the gastric wall. There were 23(41.8%) patients in the second group.EUS of this group showed that the first three sonographic layers were blurred and thickened, and the fourth layer was significantly thickened. The full thickness of the gastric wall was significantly thicker in first than in the second group of patients(P<0.01).The incidence of perigastric lesions was significantly higher in the first than in the second group of patients(P<0.01).Results for the 15 patients following preoperative EUS were compared postoperatively with histopathologic findings for T and N staging. The overall diagnostic accuracy of the T stage was 73.3% and of the N stage was 60.0%.In eight patients,we used EUS to assess a therapeutic response. No response was observed in five patients and a partial response in three.EUS images of GLP are characteristic.EUS is helpful in diagnosing GLP and for assessing the T and N stages.  相似文献
