Chinese Local Operas Fascinate Parisians

The Second Chinese Theatre Festival took place in the winter of 2005 in Paris, France. The event, organized by China Cultural Center in Paris, has seen six local opera troupes from Hebei, Jiangsu, Jilin, Fujian and Guangdong provinces, showing to Parisians scores of traditional programs of Chinese operas. Chinese theatric art is not novel to French people. Over past decades in the history of modern China, Chinese opera masters, in particular, Peking opera singers, visited Paris many times and made traditional Chinese opera known to French people. For example, when visiting Paris half the century ago, master Cheng Yanqiu gave lectures on Peking opera, the first Chinese opera genre that was introduced to French people.

An intriguing billboard on a street in Paris proclaims: "Learning Chinese will give you opportunities and wealth over the next several decades of your life." In Paris, the "China craze" set in motion by "China Culture Year 2004" has influenced not only the business world, but cultural and educational fields as well. Chinese Culinary Festival Unveiled in Paris

The week-long “Chinese Culinary Festival” was unveiled on the evening of June 11 in the courtyard of Chinese Culture Center in Paris. Refined Chinese delicacies as well as the penetrating and sweeping Chinese culinary culture left a deeper impression of an already familiar “Chinese Food” concept on the more than 200 Parisians attending the festival.

The first ＂2014 Young Sinologists Training Program＂ was held from July 2 to 22 in Beijing. Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and organized by the Center of International Cultural Exchange, the program drew 18 young Sinologists from 15 countries, including the United States, France, India and South Korea. Lecture series on Chinese archeological discoveries took place in China Culture Center in Paris late November, 2006, as part of the center＇s lecture program aiming to respond to French people＇s growing interest in Chinese culture. Diverse subjects such as archeological discoveries, heritage conservation, Chinese history and civilization as well as traditional ways to enhance bodycare, all attracted the French audience to come. The First China Ningxia International Expo on Culture, Arts and Tourism was held in September, 2009 in Yinchuan, capital city of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The 4th Chinese Film Festival opened officially in Paris
On May, 12nd, the 4th Chinese Filrn Festival was officially opened in Gaumont on the avenue of Champs- Elysees. Zhai .luan, Ambassador of China to France, Yin Fu, Director of China Cultural Center in Paris and Chairperson on the part of China of this festival, special guest Catherine Deneuve, Xia Zitong and Liu Xiaoguang, the leading actress and producer of the film ＂The Monkey King＂ and other guests attended this opening ceremony.     

FOCUS ON CHINESE CULTURE --The art exhibition ＂China in Eyes of African Artists＂ held in Benin

A s a comprising event of ＂Focus on Chinese Culture 2009＂ series, the art exhibition ＂China in Eyes of African Artists＂ , was recently held in China Culture Center in Cotonou,economic capital city of Benin.
