教育学视角下的学校规训与纪律教育

纪律之于人的发展十分重要,是学校教育的必要手段和重要任务;学校一般在知、情、行三方面对学生进行纪律教育,然而其中却存在着通过灌输、诱惑、惩罚等手段规训学生,混淆纪律教育和规训的现象。因此,必须对纪律教育和规训进行区分,通过引导学生建立规则、累积学生的积极情感经历和扭转对学生的人性假设,真正实现对学生的纪律教育,促进学生健康成长。

本文主要区别了远程教育和远程教育学两个不同的范畴,在综合分析已有对逻辑起点的研究基础上探讨了远程教育学的逻辑起点,最后阐述了远程教育学的学科性质。

人工智能是引领世界未来、改变全球格局的战略技术,人工智能的迅猛发展迫切需要人工智能教育的及时跟进。人工智能教育水平的高低决定了一个国家在世界新一轮科技革命中所处的地位,具有极其重要的意义。通过加强人工智能教育构筑我国人工智能发展的先发优势成为当前亟需思考和解决的问题。从学科建设的视角来审视人工智能教育的未来发展,既有理论价值也有现实意义,更具有实际可行性。针对人工智能教育的知识特点和发展现状,该文提出了从规划学科布局、完善学科建制、构建学术共同体、培育学科文化四个层面入手推进人工智能教育未来发展的实践路径。     

Faculty Turnover: Discipline-Specific Attention is Warranted

This study investigated the importance of discipline variations in understanding faculty turnover behaviors. A representative sample of university faculty in Research and Doctoral universities was obtained from a national database. Faculty members, self-identified into a primary academic area, were grouped into eight discipline clusters according to an established framework. Multiple regression models were constructed to examine within each cluster the relative importance of a list of factors that have been identified to be related to faculty turnover. Cross-discipline comparisons of within-cluster variable prioritization revealed substantial discipline variations with regard to the major factors that are critical to faculty turnover. The findings produced evidence that discipline-specific information was indispensable to institutional administrators and policy makers for effective faculty retention.     

公共事业管理专业教育的困境及其本土化策略——以湖北文理学院公共事业管理专业为例

作为一门新型专业,公共事业管理的定位不清晰,特色不明显,相应的课程设置较为混乱,而且本专业的毕业生就业前景也不景气.公共事业管理专业应基于当地实际,充分利用本地资源,突出专业的本地特色,并最终达到服务本地的目标.湖北文理学院顺应办学潮流,积极探索公共事业管理专业本土化的发展思路,在培养方向选定、资源配置、特色凸显、教学方法创新、就业模式改革等方面作了有益的尝试.

A Project‐Based Approach to Executive Education

Executive education (EE) has been an important part of business school offerings for nearly as long as there have been business schools. Similarly, business schools were among the first in higher education to adopt online approaches as a means for course delivery. Despite this experience, few business schools have been able to successfully integrate EE with online delivery approaches. This study suggests that a project‐based approach can achieve EE/online delivery integration. The case is first made for a project‐based approach by telling the story of our institution's journey toward a project‐based EE model. Challenges, successes, and plans for the future are then discussed.

Education,development and poverty reduction: A literature critique

The concept of development has evolved from an exclusive focus on economic growth towards an interrelated, even integrated approach involving progress across a range of disciplines such as health, education, economics and agriculture. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are rooted in this evolved conception of development. A concerted global effort embracing multiple disciplines in the formal and informal sectors is now essential for their achievement. This paper traces the changing meaning of development, while at the same time tracing the benefits of investing in education for poverty reduction, and the conditions that facilitate and/or hamper education's contribution to poverty reduction.     

The Effects of Faculty Demographic Characteristics and Disciplinary Context on Dimensions of Job Satisfaction

This study applies Kalleberg’s framework to better understand the effects of diverse demographic faculty characteristics on dimensions of job satisfaction. We also extend his work and the work of others to explore the contextual effects of academic disciplines on faculty job satisfaction. We find that women are consistently less satisfied than their male colleagues and that the effect of being female varies by discipline on levels of job satisfaction. We also find race/ethnicity has mixed effects on dimensions of job satisfaction but the effects of race/ethnicity tend to be constant across discipline. Our findings hold important implications for those seeking to understand the experiences of college faculty from diverse demographic backgrounds.     

The Effects of Discipline on Deep Approaches to Student Learning and College Outcomes

“Deep learning” represents student engagement in approaches to learning that emphasize integration, synthesis, and reflection. Because learning is a shared responsibility between students and faculty, it is important to determine whether faculty members emphasize deep approaches to learning and to assess how much students employ these approaches. This study examines the effect of discipline on student use of and faculty members’ emphasis on deep approaches to learning as well as on the relationships between deep approaches to learning and selected educational outcomes. Using data from over 80,000 seniors and 10,000 faculty members we found that deep approaches to learning were more prevalent in Biglan’s soft, pure, and life fields compared to their counterparts. The differences were largest between soft and hard fields. We also found that seniors who engage more frequently in deep learning behaviors report greater educational gains, higher grades, and greater satisfaction with college, and that the strength of these relationships is relatively consistent across disciplinary categories.

结合北京城市学院环境专业发展现状,本文提出必须明确专业教育的方向和目的,制定适应社会发展的培养方案,建立本科生教学实验室,提高师资水平以及初步建立科研体系,逐渐提高我校环境专业的教育和学术水平。

提高质量是今后若干年高等教育发展的核心.在第八届两岸高等教育学术研讨会上,两岸学者就当下高校教师专业发展所面对的境遇和机遇、教师在工作中所存在的困惑、高校在教师发展与管理等领域的经验和问题等展开了广泛而深入的交流.与会学者一致认为,高校教师的专业发展在高等教育质量提升战略中起着不可忽视的作用,而高校教师的专业发展需要政府、大学以及教师个人等各方面的努力.

Design,implementation, and evaluation of an ePortfolio approach to support faculty development in vocational education

This article provides an account of the design, implementation, and evaluation of an ePortfolio approach to faculty development and performance evaluation at a Canadian post-secondary vocational education institute. The approach was piloted in two phases in 13 departments. Survey and interview data were collected and analyzed to determine adoption, reception by faculty, and impact of the approach on faculty development. While adoption of the approach in the pilots was limited, participants who adopted the approach reported collecting more and different feedback, developing increased awareness of areas for improvement, and planning their professional learning more explicitly. Further studies are needed to determine what design elements of the portfolio optimally support professional development and performance evaluation.
