The aim of this paper is to explore the meaning of dwelling in place in terms of the critical trilogy of place. The critical trilogy is a constructively interpretive framework incorporating Greenwood’s critical pedagogy of place and Heidegger’s philosophical insights of dwelling. The critical trilogy of place, comprising decentralisation, reinhabitation, and regermination, demonstrates the profound meaning of the relationship between human beings and place when applied to a case of land ab/use in Dapu in Taiwan. Pre‐clinical anatomy curricula must provide medical students with the knowledge needed in a variety of medical and surgical specialties. But do physicians within specialties agree about what anatomical knowledge is most important in their practices? And, what is the common core of anatomical knowledge deemed essential by physicians in different specialties? Answers to these questions would be useful in designing pre‐clinical anatomy courses. The primary aim of this study was to assess the importance of a human gross anatomy course by soliciting the opinions of physicians from a range of specialties. We surveyed 93 physicians to determine the importance of specific anatomical topics in their own practices. Their responses were analyzed to assess variation in intra‐ and inter‐departmental attitudes toward the importance of anatomy. Nearly all of the topics taught in the course were deemed important by the clinicians as a group, but respondents showed little agreement on the rank order of importance of anatomical topics. Overall, only medical imaging received high importance by nearly all respondents, and lower importance was attached to embryology and lymphatic anatomy. Our survey data, however, also suggested distinct hierarchies in the importance assigned to anatomical topics within specialties. Given that physicians view the importance of anatomy differently, we suggest that students revisit anatomy through a vertically integrated curriculum tailored to provide specialty‐specific anatomical training to advanced students based on their areas of clinical interest. Integration of medical imaging into pre‐clinical anatomy courses, already underway in many medical schools, is of high clinical relevance. One of the primary goals of Freirean theory is the achievement of a higher level of political and social consciousness amongst participants in educational programming. Freire himself only loosely defined this sense of consciousness, and interpretations of how this abstract concept might look vary widely. In some organisations, the politically radical goals of Freirean facilitators do not match the desired outcomes of participants. Other organisations may use Freirean methods to pursue their programming, but without subscribing to Freire's revolutionary educational project. This article provides case study examples of both extremes in Brazil and Mozambique, concluding with the argument that applying Freire's notion of critical consciousness organisationally can help to make sense of the diversity of interpretation among Freirean nonprofits.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the organizational image of basic schools in Turkey, a rapidly developing nation that has been investing significantly in education. Participants were 730 residents of Ankara province in the Golba?? district. The participants were selected using a cluster sampling methodology. Data were collected through a public opinion survey developed by the researcher. The analysis of the data revealed a moderate public image of public education. This finding does not support the strong public confidence expected in education, despite significant investment in this area. Implications for further research are also discussed.  相似文献

In this article the author's problematize the position of women in state school physical education, focusing in particular on the ‘instructors’ who were appointed to work with women teachers and senior girls, and prepare trainees at the Teachers College in South Australia. In exploring this little researched area, the article explores shifting representations of the woman ‘instructor’ from the 1920s to the late 1940s, highlighting the interplay of key discourses associated with age, gender, marital status, character, disciplinarity and physical activity. In addition, the authors explicate ways in which these discourses were interwoven in the career of May Cleggett, who for most of the period was the only woman physical education instructor in South Australian state schools.  相似文献

Abstract

Human beings tend to forget, especially when they suffer; they hope to overcome the pain of trauma to live a peaceful and happy life. The futurist attitude that can be articulated as ‘Move towards the future and let bygones be bygones’ may be related to injustice and social crisis. The aim of this paper is to explore the ethics of memory and forgetting regarding the place. This paper addresses three observations about memory and forgetting in current Taiwan and unearths the hidden connection with an ‘unsolved’ traumatic event in history. As the author examines, the unsolvedness is profoundly impacting people’s liability to forget and thereby causes the societal crisis, and the ‘Ghost Island’ is tabbed. Based on the above, the author claims the significance of the education of just memory and the implying ethics of memory – which is the very key to bring the wounded to peace, restoration, and forgiveness and to expel and pacify the spectre of the island.  相似文献

This article is based on the critical approaches developed in Atelier 1, an architectural design studio in the Gazi University Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture in Ankara, Turkey. The main theme of Atelier 1 Projects in the 2014–15 academic year was the ‘City as a Critical Ground’, in which the city, ground and criticism were discussed within the interdisciplinary theoretical field of architecture. Atelier 1, involving second, third and fourth year undergraduate students, reinterpreted and redesigned the urban ground of Ankara with a critical approach to reveal its unique identities and implicit values. Ground, accepted as the main critical material in the design process, was criticised not only in its physical sense, but also its social, cultural, political, economic, technological and even psychological aspects. The students were able to discover their own design methods from their criticisms of the urban ground, which also allowed them to determine their sites and programmes. In this way, Atelier 1 promoted freedom and flexibility as well as criticality in the design process, and pointed out that the relationship of architecture with city, ground and criticism should be discussed from a new theoretical perspective, primarily in the architectural design studio, as the core of architectural education. Atelier 1, as a theory‐based architectural design studio, motivated the students to develop a critical approach to the urban ground of Ankara so as to replace the rising formalism with criticism in architecture.  相似文献

To support the national and international aims of inclusion, special teacher training in Sweden was replaced in 1990 by special educator training. These special educators would supervise the teachers in their school and would not exclusively teach students. The aim of this study was to investigate what the principals of 14 municipal compulsory schools in Stockholm County thought about the organisation and realisation of special education in 1996 and 2006 respectively. According to the results, there were fewer segregated groups in these schools in 2006, but an increasing number of students were placed in segregated groups that were common to several schools or municipalities. Principals at schools with teaching teams usually saw the special educator as a coordinating and supervising resource while others preferred the special teacher function. The former approach led to a more inclusive school and the latter in the direction of exclusion.  相似文献

子思学术源于何人,一直是一个学术界纷争的问题。该文经过对子思生卒年的详尽考察以及对子思生平活动的排列,认为子思的启蒙教育得益于家人,儿童时期的教育得益于乃祖孔子及其孔子的某些弟子,少年时期受到子游的影响较大,青年时期曾子成了他亦师亦友的导师与密友,而中年起与曾子、子游及其他孔子弟子共同总结孔子井翻的儒家学说,使儒学成为一个更有系统的学术派别。因此,子思之所以能成为承继儒学的主要传人,正是他源于多种学术继承和总结的结果。  相似文献
