The authors participating in this forum center communication as both process and tool for understanding, mitigating, and making meaning of food (in)security. The nine authors together discuss the role of communication in food (in)security, the central challenges for scholars and practitioners working on food (in)security, and the creative possibilities and impacts influencing the future of food (in)security. Sexual harassment remains a persistent workplace problem. The 2017 #Metoo movement and what-have-come-to-be routine news stories about sexual hostility, sexual assault, and sexual harassment in American organizations have opened wounds and reinvigorated public commentary. Although the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sets forth guidelines for organizations to follow, questions remain about what counts as sexual harassment, and what is an organization’s responsibility in maintaining a harassment-free workplace for its employees. At the invitation of the editor, seven organizational communication scholars responded to a series of questions addressing seven issues related to sexual harassment. These are: sexual harassment policy and training; the responsibilities of bystanders of sexual harassment; organizational culture that provides more support to the harasser than the harassed; the intersection of race with sexual harassment; same-sex harassment and female-to-male harassment; and what can be learned from public movements (e.g. #Metoo). This article focuses on the conceptualization and implementation of a web archiving pilot project of selected Russian and East European lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) websites by the University of California, Berkeley. It introduces the use of the Web Archiving Services (WAS) platform developed by the California Digital Library. While identifying the criteria used to harvest these websites, the paper also describes various complexities associated with the viability of projects related to such complex social and political issues as the Russian and Eastern European LGBT rights movements. The article does not take an ideological stance with respect to legal issues, but rather strives to preserve information for academic research. 相似文献

[目的/意义]面对世界范围内各种思想文化交流、交融、交锋的新形势,深入挖掘国际传媒研究热点,对促进我国传媒领域的学术发展与学科体系完善具有重要意义。[方法/过程]本文以Web of Science数据库中2015—2019年传媒类期刊文献数据为基础,结合概率主题模型、文献计量方法以及自然语言处理技术对文档内容和元数据进行联合建模,构建国家-主题分布矩阵,较为全面地挖掘了近五年来国际传媒研究的地理分布与知识结构,最终落脚于国内传媒领域研究的热点主题分析。[结果/结论]研究结果表明,数字技术推动新媒体蓬勃发展,不断刺激传媒领域的产业升级与文化重塑。我国部分主题在理论研究、产学交流、学科融合等方面仍存在探索与提升的空间,需要在重视理论研究与应用研究、基础学科与新兴学科协同发展的基础上,开展符合国内需求、具有国际视野的传媒研究,为传媒领域的持续深入发展添砖加瓦。 相似文献

The bulk of instructional communication research to date examines communication among teachers and students in conventional classroom contexts. Although past and present research is prolific and informative, it is also somewhat limiting. With a specific unifying focus on affective, cognitive, and behavioral learning as outcome variables, we begin this article with a brief history of instructional communication research, as well as examples of research and practice in conventional classroom settings. We then outline, review, and explain four distinct contexts where we believe future instructional communication research and practice is likely to be fruitful: risk and crisis situations, technology-enhanced environments, digital games, and forensics education. 相似文献

This study demonstrates how communication research can be strategically applied to address environmental problems in modern societies. To accomplish this goal, this research advances an integrated communication model based on psychological reactance theory and the theory of planned behavior to explain negative attitude change that can occur when people are exposed to water conservation campaigns [Liang, Y. J., Henderson, L.K., & Kee, K. F. (2017). Running out of water! Developing a message typology and evaluating message effects on attitude toward water conservation. Environmental Communication. doi:10.1080/17524032.2017.1288648]. The data fit the hypothesized model, synthesizing message-, social-, and individual-based processes to predict their effects on behavioral intention towards water conservation. Interestingly, data show that (1) combinations of message strategies affect reactance differently, and (2) subjective norm and perceived behavioral control negatively correlated with threat to freedom. These results point to the practical implication that environmental communication to promote voluntary water conservation are effective when campaign messages are designed to reduce threat to freedom, induce social norms, and increase self-efficacy. We call the documented research process strategic environmental communication, which focuses on the joint application of evidence and theory towards addressing environmentally motivated problems. 相似文献

文章利用ISI的Web of Science中的SSCI数据库,对1996~2008年8月期间收录的24种图书情报学核心期刊引文进行了期刊共引分析,并绘制了图书情报科学研究的知识图谱.知识图谱显示,目前国际图书情报学领域主要分为图书馆学和情报学两大部分.图书馆学研究大致包括网络资源组织、数字图书馆、开放获取、知识组织、用户服务等主流学科领域;情报学大致包括网络计量研究、信息(引文)计量研究、科学计量学理论、科研指标与评价、信息检索及用户检索行为理论研究、电子信息系统与服务及用户行为研究等主流学科领域. 相似文献

20世纪 80年代以来 ,第三人效应理论作为传播效果研究的一个新内容 ,已经在西方传播学界产生了较大的影响。该理论的基本观点是 ,受众普遍认为大众传媒对其他人的影响要比对自己的要大 ;但在进一步的研究中 ,发现第一人效应和第三人效应之间还存在着某些矛盾之处 ,这集中体现在“互有差异的认知”这个概念上。这个理论对于解释目前传播中存在的一些问题和现象有着重要的启发意义。 相似文献

新一代信息技术革命正推动着新一代内容范式的建构。作为一种新的内容范式,内容在作为资讯传达的深度价值之外,还具有作为情感和关系表达的宽度价值,以及内容作为一种传播场景的媒介价值。虽然资讯内容的价值属性未改变,但专业媒介面临工作重心从直接内容生产向数据挖掘与生产组织协调的转型。泛众化传播到来的同时传播的情感和关系属性被放大,视频表达的宽信息容量彰显了内容作为引发关系认同和情感共鸣的宽度价值。面对碎片化传播语境与流动中的用户,无所不在、无处不有的内容作为一种场景的媒介价值显现出来--通过内容聚合趣缘用户,再通过数据驱动建构场景连接,最后促进供需双方的价值变现。 相似文献

The ABA Legal Technology Survey Reports from 2006 to 2012 reported that, on average, 51% of attorneys “regularly” used print materials. Given the propensity of law students to default to online research, this article describes the results of a three-year longitudinal study of an integrated approach to teaching first-year legal research. This approach required students conduct legal research tasks both online and in print sources, and to evaluate their experience. The objective of this approach was to transform the legal research experience from a “treasure hunt” into a much higher level of engagement based on Benjamin Bloom's Taxonomy of Learning. 相似文献
