Effect of professional development on teaching behaviors and efficacy in Qatari educational reforms

Qatar is undergoing major educational reform that is shifting its educational policy toward an instructional orientation grounded in constructivism and student-centered instruction. Differences in cultural conceptions of knowledge acquisition and the purpose of education are examined to highlight challenges to Qatar’s reform implementation efforts. Self-efficacy theory is reviewed to provide a theoretical framework for our examination of the adequacy of professional development to impact teacher efficacy for implementing reform-based teaching practices. Teaching behaviors in line with the reform and teacher efficacy were quantitatively measured before and after professional development for treatment and control groups. Regression methods were used to examine the impact of professional development on the relationship between teaching behaviors and teacher efficacy. Results indicate a significant interaction effect; for teachers who received the training, the relationship between behaviors and teacher efficacy was negative, while for teachers in the control group this relationship was positive. Implications of the findings for teacher efficacy and professional development are discussed.     

专业认证背景下的《钢结构设计》课程教学改革与实践

随着我国经济的快速发展,目前会计教育在很多方面不适应未来的发展要求,会计教育改革势在必行。文章通过对部分高校会计教育的调查与研究,对未来高校会计教育的改革做出了合理的预期。

自我导向教师专业发展是基于教师的内在发展需求,以自我导向性和丰富生活经验为基础,与教师生活密切相关,能够立即应用并改进教学实践的发展模式,是一种内在路径的教师专业发展路径。本文通过以有效教师专业发展为基点,建构了以职业效能感和教学效能感为支撑的自我导向教师专业发展框架,期待能够为测量内在的教师专业发展水平提供一种借鉴和参照。     

Teacher participation in school-based professional development in China: does it matter for teacher efficacy and teaching strategies?

ABSTRACT

Although Chinese teachers commonly participate in school-based professional development activities, there is a remarkable scarcity of large-scale quantitative research into the effectiveness of teacher professional development in China, which is characterised as an institutionalised practice. Based on a conceptual framework applying recent research knowledge, this study investigates the relationships between teacher participation in school-based professional development and its individual and school contextual antecedents and effects on teachers and teaching in the context of mainland China. A total of 1506 secondary school teachers responded to a questionnaire survey. The results show that teachers’ willingness to attend teaching research activities and supportive principal leadership facilitated teacher participation. Among the three dimensions of teacher participation, it was collective lesson planning and teacher collegiality, not the frequency of participation, that improved teacher efficacy and the adoption of desirable teaching strategies. These results enrich the knowledge about the characteristics and effectiveness of teacher professional development in China. The implications of the findings are discussed.     

以专业认证导向的生物技术综合实验教学改革

教学效能感是教师的一种信念,即教师对自己的教学能力和专业知识能否影响和帮助学生的自信程度。教学效能感通过影响教师情绪的调控、教学活动的组织和教学行为的归因等途径,达到影响学生自我效能感和学业成就的目的。

教师专业发展已经成为当代教育研究的一个热门话题。各国将认识和理解教师教学专长,提高教师职业化水平列为教师教育领域的重要研究与课题。提高教师的专业化水平是目前学校教育工作的中心,学校采取各种途径,加速教师专业化发展的进程,反思教学就是一种可持续发展的方法。     

Teaching in inclusive classrooms: efficacy and beliefs of Canadian preservice teachers

This study provides a Canada-wide snapshot of the self-efficacy and beliefs of 1490 preservice teachers in relation to inclusive teaching using the Teacher Efficacy for Inclusive Practice and the Beliefs about Learning and Teaching Questionnaire. At the time of data collection, these preservice teachers were in the final stages of their teacher education programmes. Based on the results of surveys in 11 Faculties of Education, men have higher self-efficacy than women for managing behaviour in the classroom, elementary preservice teachers have higher self-efficacy in collaboration than those teaching in secondary schools, those enrolled in the 1-year post-degree programme show lower self-efficacy than those enrolled in programmes of other durations, and those who have experience with people with special education needs show higher self-efficacy than those who do not. Differences illustrated that women were more inclusive than men, 1-year post-degree preservice teachers were less inclusive than others, and those who have experience with people with special education needs are more inclusive than those who do not. Recommendations for teacher education and limitations surrounding the practical significance of the findings are discussed.     

工程教育专业认证背景下海洋工程环境课程教学改革的研究

江苏科技大学港口航道与海岸工程专业在2016年通过了工程教育认证。文章针对工程教育认证过程中专家提出的关于课程体系中环境类教学内容和教学活动存在的不足,对海洋工程环境课程教学改革进行了探索和研究,分析了港口航道与海岸工程专业海洋工程环境课程目前存在的问题,提出了教学改革的措施,选择合适的教学方案,提高海洋工程环境的教学质量以及本专业本科生的学习兴趣,以达到毕业要求。     

教学案例与教师发展

教学案例是教学过程中的故事，它描述的是“意料之外，情理之中的事”。教学案例在促进教师成长过程中是必要的：教师编写教学案例就是促进教师自身发展的过程，教师的专业水平在分析教学案例的过程中必定能得到发展。总之，教学案例的作用在于引起阅读案例的人反思实践，深入思考教学实践中的问题。通过对案例的分析促进教师的发展已经成为教师教育的手段。
