论博硕士学位论文质量体系的构建

博硕士学位论文是博硕士学位质量的集中体现。将管理学中的全面质量管理思想引入到博硕士学位论文撰写过程中,可以把影响论文质量的多种因素和环节统一纳入管理视野并建立控制点,形成全过程控制体系,进而提高博硕士学位论文质量。     

The State of the Art in Teacher Education in Brazil

Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to present and analyze research on teacher education in Brazil, focusing on the research production of graduate programs and research centers (represented by theses, dissertations and final reports of studies developed in the country by Brazilians), and articles published in national journal by Brazilian authors. First, a brief history of the development of educational research in Brazil is presented; this is followed by a discussion of the state of the art of research in Brazilian teacher education. Finally, some conclusions and recommendations for the future are presented.

     

An analysis of professional practice Ed.D. dissertations in Educational Technology

The University of Florida offers an online professional practice Ed.D. focused on Educational Technology. Twenty-three students have completed professional practice dissertations and graduated since the program’s inception in 2008. The purpose of this article is to share what these dissertations have looked like and to begin a dialogue about professional practice dissertations completed in online educational technology programs. Specifically, we (1) provide an overview of different ways professional practice Ed.D. dissertations are structured, (2) share guiding principles for professional practice dissertations in our Ed.D. program, (3) analyze the ways in which these guiding principles played out in the dissertations and (4) discuss the implications of our analysis for our program and for other online professional practice programs in Educational Technology.     

The Training of Adequate Leadership for Week‐Day Religious Education

The 51 abstracts of doctoral theses printed below were sent to the Bureau of Research of the National Council of Churches for abstracting in Religious Education since the last series of such doctoral abstracts was printed in this journal (see Religious Education, Vol. 56, pages 359–382, 1961). The abstracts here printed have been substantially limited to studies containing explicit reference to current educational processes, procedures, and personnel in religious institutions. Persons interested in reviewing complete dissertations usually may obtain these in one of two ways. The school granting the degree will either loan complete dissertations to local libraries on interlibrary loan, or it will direct interested persons to ordering that dissertation on microfilm. Readers are reminded that an indispensable library resource for obtaining information on available doctoral theses from many of the major academic institutions is Dissertation Abstracts. Please do not address requests for dissertations to this magazine or to the National Council of Churches     

博士学位论文文后参考文献的比较分析——以B大学160份博士学位论文为样本

运用引文分析的方法,对B大学160份工科博士学位论文的文后参考文献进行了比较分析。研究发现优秀博士学位论文与普通学位论文在参考文献总量上没有明显差异,但在文献类型、语种情况、文献的衰变情况、跨学科文献数量、经典文献数量以及自引文献数量上有不同程度的差异。这种差异从不同角度说明了博士学位论文参考文献引用的规律、特点及其对论文质量的影响,因而可为博士学位论文创作提供启示。     

全日制专业学位硕士研究生学位论文的过程管理与质量控制

结合工程实践对全日制专业学位硕士研究生学位论文的过程管理进行了研究,改革并创新了全日制专业学位硕士研究生的论文质量控制节点和过程管理体系,并将新的过程管理体系应用于北京邮电大学国家示范性软件学院全日制软件工程硕士的培养过程。实践表明,新的学位论文过程管理体系提高了全日制软件工程硕士学位论文内在和外在的质量。     

博客在国内教育应用的发展现状研究

博客的教育应用在国内已经步入第五个年头。博客教育应用的现实状况怎样?它的发展趋势如何?本文从博客教育应用的实践和理论两大方面入手,首先研究总结出博客国内教育应用的四个发展阶段,然后运用内容分析法,分析2003年以来期刊论文以及硕士、博士论文有关"博客教育应用"的文献,详述了博客国内教育应用现状、发展中存在的问题以及可能的发展趋势。     

影响西部院校研究生学位论文质量问题的因素

学位论文质量是研究生培养质量体系中一条重要的衡量标准。如何提高研究生的学位论文质量,成为当前西部院校较为关注的问题。研究生招生生源质量、研究生培养过程、研究生导师水平等因素都直接影响了研究生学位论文质量,因此,充分考虑这些影响因素,对于提高硕士学位论文质量,进而提高研究生教育质量具有十分重要的意义。     

Completing a PhD by publication: a review of Australian policy and implications for practice

There is increasing impetus for higher-degree-by-research students to publish during candidature. Research performance, including higher degree completions and publication output, commonly determines university funding, and doctorates with publishing experience are better positioned for a career in softening academic labour markets. The PhD by Publication provides a pathway for candidates to foster and demonstrate their publishing capabilities. It also provides existing academics a means of achieving doctoral status while managing the ‘publish or perish’ milieu endemic to their work. This paper clarifies the precise nature and significance of the PhD by Publication pathway in the Australian context and discusses the associated benefits and problems, enriched by personal experience. It summarises factors pertinent to assessing the pathway's suitability. The review of current policy suggests institutional guidelines in universities nationwide are inadequate for producing theses of comparable quality to conventional dissertations and capitalising on the pathway's significant benefits.     

民族院校双学位专业的思考

随着我国社会主义市场经济建设的不断深入,社会对人才的需求呈多样化、多层次趋势.高等学校为了适应这一变化趋势,积极主动地调整专业及课程设置,使其更贴近社会需求,双学位专业就是在这样的大环境下产生的.然而,在建设过程中,双学位专业的定位、课程设计、师资队伍建设、学制等问题,逐渐显现出来.本文试图通过分析,找出问题所在,使双学位专业的建设更加完善.     

Economics of corruption in doctoral education: The dissertations market

This paper addresses the issue of “dissertations for sale” in Russia. The tasks of this anthropological study include establishing the problem of corruption in doctoral education, identification of the dissertations suppliers, study of the specific services they offer, analysis of their prices on different services, and generalizations of findings in the context of the educational system. All of these tasks address the supply side of the dissertations market. This paper identifies a total of 169 firms that offer dissertations for sale in Russia. It concludes that the cost of the dissertations market extends far beyond its monetary expression. Fake doctorates undermine the credibility of real, earned doctorates, and erode the gold standard of quality in research and scholarship.     

THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIOEDUCATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS IN UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS FOR OLDER ADULT STUDENTS

ABSTRACT

In this paper we consider that, to a great degree, educational quality is insured through successful educational and social-relationship strategies developed among educators and their older adult students. Proposals to improve educational quality should be considered within the unique context of each university's mission and goals. Otherwise, the same measures used in different institutions may lead either to progress or to educational and social regression. Much depends on the conditions under which programs are implemented, and the way they are perceived by participants in the educational process.     

The development, validation, and application of the Doctoral Student Connectedness Scale

Student attrition from distance and limited-residency doctoral programs is significantly higher than that from traditional programs. The focus of this paper is the development and application of a survey instrument, the Doctoral Student Connectedness Scale, designed to identify students at risk of dropout. The study focused exclusively on students currently working on their dissertations with results indicating that low feelings of student-to-student and student-to-faculty connectedness in the learning environment may be predictive of departure from the program. This study supports the work of Lovitts (2001) and others who have also recognized connectedness as an integral part of the dissertation experience. Recommendations are made for addressing these issues through various initiatives that administrators, faculty, and students can support including the design and development of a doctoral student community of practice (CoP).

Examination of Research Theses

The examination of postgraduate research theses is of vital importance to academic institutions as well as to students. This paper reviews examination procedures at one university, summarising examiners’ comments on 58 theses. A number of questions regarding examiner anonymity, alternatives to the traditional doctoral dissertation, and most importantly, the criteria for the award of degrees are raised. Although great care is taken in choosing examiners, the criteria they are expected to employ are inadequate. Rates of progress of research students in different degree programs suggest that some students may well lack adequate information about the extent of their task as postgraduates.
