SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL CONCLUDES WITH BIG SUCCESS

The nine-day 12th Shanghai International Film Festival （SIFF） concludes With big success on June 21. The Danish- Swedish Co-production ＂Original＂ wan the Best Feature Film and Best Actor prizes, Danish-actress Simone Tang, who depicts the bittersweet growth of a high school student in the movie ＂Aching Heads＂, won the best actress award, Chinese film ＂The Search＂ received the Jury Grand Pdx while another domestic entry ＂Empire Of Silver＂ was given the Jury Award.

＂Blind Massage＂, the first movie pro- duced by Shaanxi Cultural Industry Investment （Group） Co., Ltd. （SCG）, won the Silver Bear for Best Artistic Contribution at the 64 Berlin Interna- tional Film Festival （Berlinale）. Three Chinese movies vied for awards at this annual film festival and ＂Black Coal, Thin Ice＂ became the Golden Bear winner for Best Film and Best Actor.     

SHANGHAI FILM FEST HIGHLIGHTS ASIAN YOUNG TALENTS

The 10th Shanghai International Film Festival （SIFF） was rounded off at Shanghai Grand Theatre on June 24, 2007. The full list of winners from Jin Jue Award was announced at the awarding ceremony and the closing ceremony with all the eight awards in their proper places. The international judges, together with film and TV stars, distinguished guests from home and abroad awarded the prizes to the winners. ＂Flight of the Red Balloon＂, the closing film led the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival to a successful conclusion.

At the 58th Cannes International Film Festival, Chinese film “Shanghai Dreams”, presented by sixth generation director Wang Xiaoshuai, won the Jury Prize award. In his speech at the award ceremony, Wang said that the film was his best gift for the 100th anniversary of Chinese film. This year, Daguanlou (Panoramic View Tower), known as the birthplace of Chinese film, is under renovation to welcome this great occasion.

The exhibition ＂Buddhist Sculpture Masterpieces of Ancient China＂ by the Capital Museum in Beijing won the ＂Best Production ＂ award.     

TEN ARCHEOLOGICAL DISCOVERIES OF CHINA IN 2006

＂2006 Ten Archeological Discoveries of China＂ were co-released by China Heritage News and China Archeology. Society on April 8, 2007. Launched in 1990 the annual event saw nearly 600 nominations this year. According to Tong Mingkang, Deput.v Director-General of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the event has become a famous brand name and many sites which won this annual award have been given special care by local governments. Tong also highlighted three major criteria for assessing candidate discoveries： their value and importance pertaining to academic study; application of new technologies and approaches; protection measures adopted during and after excavation.

Xi＇an Hosts Folk Video Festival

From October 28 to November 1, the 4th China Xi＇an International Folkvideo Festival was held in Xi＇an.This event is co-hosted by the Center of International CulturalExchange and China DV Commission and organized by Shaanxi Cultural Industry Investment Holdings Group （SCG）.
