This paper identifies the role of reflexivity as a central concern to educational researchers. We argue that reflexivity as a concept needs to be recognised at three key levels. Reflexivity can be considered in terms of learning in general, in relation to our research designs and finally with respect to the production of educational knowledge. Each of these levels is analysed and related to our understanding of social justice research in education. Through an exposition of Giddens’ notion of the ‘duality of structure’ we put forward one way of researching in the area of social justice and education which takes into account the reflexive nature of educational research.  相似文献

目前,我国的教育公平问题主要表现为阶层不公平、城乡不公平、地域不公平和学段不公平.从本质上讲,它不仅是一个教育问题,也不仅是一个经济问题,而更是一个政治问题.其根源在于市场化背景下的日益加剧的社会分化,尤其是阶层分化.教育公平问题能否妥善解决好,从根本上取决于政府及各级教育行政部门的立场、态度和决心.只要各级政府及教育行政部门从应有的政治立场出发,以严肃认真的态度,下定决心来处理问题,政治上反对特权化--阶层特权、城市特权、区域特权、精英特权,坚持阶层公平、城乡公平、区域公平、学段公平,坚持教育为人民服务,为民族服务;经济上反对资本化、产业化,坚持教育的人民性、公益性,教育公平问题就能够得到令人满意的解决.  相似文献

In this article that reviews this special issue, we identify 5 ironies and limitations of educational leadership for social justice: (a) the meaning of inclusive practice, (b) the intersection of identity and difference, (c) the emphasis given to student achievement, (d) the lack of policy and practice coherence, and (e) the separation of superheroes from critical collaborative leadership. Although we discuss each issue separately, these conceptions are interrelated and intersecting. We conclude with a call to educators for social justice to change their work in several fundamental ways.  相似文献

Harry Brighouse and Adam Swift argue that education is a positional good; this, they hold, implies that there is a qualified case for leveling down educational provision. In this essay, Ben Kotzee discusses Brighouse and Swift's argument for leveling down. He holds that the argument fails in its own terms and that, in presenting the problem of educational justice as one of balancing education's positional and nonpositional benefits, Brighouse and Swift lose sight of what a consideration of the nonpositional benefits by itself can reveal. Instead of focusing on education's positional benefits, Kotzee investigates what emphasizing education's nonpositional benefits would imply for educational justice. Drawing on recent work in social epistemology, Kotzee holds that theories of educational justice would benefit from a consideration of the virtue of epistemic justice, and he outlines solutions to a number of problems in the area from this perspective.  相似文献

Locke's reputation as a sceptic regarding testimony, and the resultant mockery by epistemologists with social inclinations, is well known. In particular Michael Welbourne, in his article ‘The Community of Knowledge’ (1981), depicts Lockean epistemology as fundamentally opposed to a social conception of knowledge, claiming that he ‘could not even conceive of the possibility of a community of knowledge’. This interpretation of Locke is flawed. Whilst Locke does not grant the honorific ‘knowledge’ to anything short of certainty, he nonetheless held what we would call ‘testimonial knowledge’ in appropriate esteem. This can be shown by his careful distinction between testimony and mere received opinion. Furthermore, this distinction is dependent upon a knowledge community which enables hearers of testimony to access alternative accounts. In view of this, we can consider Locke's Conduct of the Understanding in a new light. Dedicated to the autodidact adult, The Conduct directs the learner to reason clearly and well. One goal is to render adult students capable of assessing testimony. The advice given is social in nature. The student must not limit his study to ‘one sort of men or one sort of books’. Otherwise, he faces the sort of cognitive isolation which would render him a mere receiver of opinion. The picture of Locke that emerges is not that of a dyed‐in‐the‐wool sceptic regarding testimonial knowledge, but of a philosopher who formed an embryonic social epistemology embedded within a programme of adult education.  相似文献

知识与知识观是两个不同的概念,然而在追求知识的过程中,二者总是被等同.对"知识是什么"最具代表性的回答从应然的"知识即德性"到实然的"知识即权力",充分表露了知识探究方式的转变以及知识观与知识关系的扭曲.尤其是在后现代的解构浪潮中,多样化的知识观变成了知识本身,获得了各自的合法性.各种知识观合法性的泛滥不仅表明了知识本身的认识危机,也给教育变革带来了深刻的影响,后者是需要我们高度关注的问题.  相似文献

教育的根本功能在于促进人的发展。所以,当代社会人的转型,要求教育必须做出相应的变革。全球化社会的到来,使人的生存方式正在发生着变化,这就是从单子式主体到类主体,从个人的主体性到主体间性。教育必须适应这一变革,走向类主体教育。这就要求教育目的观从个人主义走向共同体主义:教育实践观从对象化活动走向交往;教育内容观从片面走向整合。  相似文献

Using a critical ethnographic perspective, I describe how social scientists actively transition into the evaluation industry in a reform environment that is marked by increased privatization of all aspects of public education. I do this by exploring adaptations that contract evaluators use to enhance a sense of personal connection to their work (i.e., contribution to social change) and the ways in which macropolitical interests intersect with those personal stories.
