当前许多学校由于注重标准和绩效责任,对青年人滥用药物、行为不良、不安全性行为、暴力和学业失败采用有很大风险的阻止方式。但这是正确的方式吗?学校和学生能否从专注于促进教育成就和社会道德发展的技能中获益?10多年的研究表明学生的成功与这些计划毫无关系,我们需要另一种解决问题的方式——弹性领导。     

In the Wake of A Nation at Risk: New American Schools' Private Sector School Reform Initiative

Since its publication in 1983, A Nation at Risk has caused several waves and ripples of educational reform. This article puts that report in the context of earlier responses to perceived education crises. One such important response was from the private sector: the New American Schools Development Corporation (NAS). NAS attempted to create, develop, and widely disseminate "break the mold" whole-school designs to improve student achievement in the nation's schools. Despite a history of mixed results, NAS was influential in changing federal policy to support the Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration program (CSRD). Now embedded in the No Child Left Behind legislation, CSRD has private and public sector support for the nation's continuing attempts to create effective schools. However, the effectiveness of comprehensive school reform at scale in the nation's highest poverty schools remains an open question.

Counseling Center Intake Checklists at Academically Selective Institutions: Practice and Measurement Implications

Psychometric evaluation of presenting problem checklists is vital, given increasing clinical severity among college students. However, checklist research has focused on students at public universities and utilized inappropriate methodologies when doing so. It is unclear whether checklists used at academically selective universities reliably and comprehensively assess the potentially unique presenting problems of their students. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with independent samples examined the checklist used at an academically selective university's counseling center. A six-factor model best fit the data, suggesting that this checklist reliably and comprehensively assesses presenting problems at this university. This model holds detailed assessment, outreach, and policy implications for counseling centers.

中华民族的优秀传统与“不懈奋斗精神”

江泽民同志提出的为实现社会主义现代化而不懈奋斗的五种精神,是对中华民族优秀传统精神的继承和发展。中华民族“重行”的传统与解放思想,实事求是的精神;“日新”的传统与紧跟时代,勇于创新的精神;“勇毅”,“自强”的传统与知难而进,一往无前的精神;“务实”的传统与艰苦奋斗,务求实效的精神;“重义轻利”,“公忠”的传统与谈泊名利,无私奉献的精神,在思想上都有着密切的渊源关系。大力宣传和弘扬这五种精神,对加速实现社会主义现代化,具有极为重要的现实意义。     

论民族国家想象与老舍文学创作

现代文学史上的著名作家老舍在创作中启动的一个重要资源就是“民族”想象,以往的研究重在分析老舍的文学成就,更多地集中在作品的艺术特征和语言方面。从“国家”召唤和“民族”想象的角度,对老舍早期及至抗战期间的文学创作进行综合分析,在宏观的时代背景下分析老舍文艺创作的变化轨迹。     

“公民社会”的文化解读与政治风险

从文化维度看,“公民社会”只是一种处理国家、组织与个人三者关系的机制,一种社会运作体制,一种社会管理（治理）模式,一种社会建设目标。私有化、自由化、市场化、个人主义、无政府主义,是其核心价值观。无论从概念上,或是从价值观上,还是从社会实践上,都不宜把“公民社会”作为我国政治体制改革、社会建设的目标和价值取向。     

Character Analysis of Jeremiah Donovan in "Guests of the Nation"

Guests of the Nation displays vividly the gravity of the tragic dilemma in which O’Connor’s characters are caught,between military duty and the ancient sancta of the moral law.In this paper,the author analyzes Jeremiah Donovan,the Irish commanding officer,who is seemingly unfriendly and cold-blooded because he delivers the news of the impending executions to Bonaparte,the innocent narrator and also one of the Irish guards and it is Donovan who fires the gun at the execution.To the exterior,he is a cold antagonist who mercilessly murdered the two English hostages.However,Donovan is a character of dualities and as a victim of the war,he is a character full of contradicts.In the interior,Donovan is a character tortured by the conflicts between what is natural and what is unnatural.
