Preparation of the polysulfonamide/titania composites

A series of polysulfonamide （PSA）/TiO 2 modifier nano-composite films were successfully prepared by in-situ polymerization at a low temperature based on 4, 4-diaminodiphenylsulfone and terephthaloyl chloride in the common solvent N, N-dimethylacetamide （DMAc）. It was shown that the nano particles were well dispersed in the polymer substrate. Mean-while, PSA/TiO 2 /modifier composites exhibited good UV-resistant properties and mechanical properties. In addition, the composites’ heat stability improved. These prepared composites are promising in preparing spinning solution and might have potential application in heat-resistant fiber.

Promoting global citizenship through ICT： Ukrainian high school students

Information is one of the important assets in today＇s society. Information and communication technologies （ICT） may be particularly important for students as one of the tools shaping global citizens. The objective of this study was to investigate the use of ICT by high school students （n=122） from a developing country, like Ukraine. The Global Citizenship Survey was used and modified for the purpose of this study （Lima, 2006）. Initial analyses indicated that the majority of the students use computers at school at least once per week. However, most of the students do not use the Intemet at school on a weekly basis. At the same time, the majority of students from Ukraine have computers at home and more than half of students have the Internet access at home. A chi-square analysis revealed statistically significant gender differences in the use of computers and the lnternet.

Purpose： Understanding the displaying form of anxiety state in senior school students, providing evidence to the school for effective health education program. Method Random choosing three sophomore classes at Suzhou Senior School as group sampling. Using ZUNG self-evaluating anxiety form （SAS） as questionnaire. All forms were independently finished by the students anonymously the day right before final examination. Result： 111 students have no anxiety in 131 students, holding 84.7%; 20 students have anxiety, holding 15.3%. Its mean value is 41.38＋8.84. The investigation shows that the ratio of anxiety in the students of examination score ranking after top 500 in the grade is 50%. The relativity between anxiety and examination score ranking is statistically significant （p= 0.008） . Analysis from the cause of psychological pressure found that the ratio of the students feeling quick heartbeat in most of time with un-ideal score is 11.7%, which is 2.8% higher than the students with ideal score. It is statistically significant as well （p=0.046） . Conclusion： The psychological health state of the students in Suzhou Senior School generally is good. The objective of health education program by the school should be focused on development, enhancing persuasion and education to the students with different situation. It will improve the psychological health state of the students and strengthen their psychological adaptation.

Study of the behaviour of the dielectric constant in Cu,Fe：BaTiO3

In this work we study the behaviour of the dielectric constant of BaTiO3 single crystals doped with Cu and Fe for different ion percentages, particularly, the influence of these hetemvalent substitutions on the ferroelectric-paraelectric phase transition whose temperature is found at Tc=120℃ for pure samples. The dielectric constant e in terms of temperature shows that the Curie temperature decreases when the quantity of impurities increases and presents a broadening and flattering of the maximum oft（T） within higher values, with the transition becoming more and more diffuse. It is interesting to have a material with very high permittivity （high-k） because of its capacity to store an important quantity of electric charges. The t anisotropy and the Curie-Weiss law are also verified with a good ratio between the slopes ofε^-l（T） from both sides of the transition, leading to a Curie constant： C= 13 × 10^4 K for BaTiO3：1.6%Fe in the polar phase. BaTiO3 is a displacive ferroelectric going through a first-order phase transition. The substitutions have an effect on the dynamics of the perovskite lattice. They induce charges transfer to Ti and a diminution of elastic forces in BaTiO3. Then we discuss the transition but on the nature of the material. fact that the maximum of permittivity does not depend on the phase     

A case study on mathematics anxiety for mathematics of finance course

The DIIA （Diploma in Investment Analysis） students from the FBM （Faculty of Business Management） were required to undertake several MOF （Mathematic of Finance） courses. The passing rates for all of the MOF courses were good except for one course. There are many factors for this low passing rate phenomenon for this particular MOF course. One of the factors is mathematics anxiety as suggested by Richardson in 1971. As a result, this paper is carried out in order to measure the undergraduates＇ level of mathematics anxiety in general and between genders in this one particular course. The outcome is expected to fill in the gap as study of anxiety in MOF is still lacking. A 30-item MARS （Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale） is adapted and used in this study, because this course is predominant by complex computations. The Ss （samples） of the study are 119 students who undertook this MOF course during the study semester of December 2008 to April 2009 in UiTM （Universiti Teknologi MARA）. It is expected that the findings will show that the Ss have a considerably high mean for mathematics anxiety; and female students have a higher mean of mathematics anxiety as compared to their male counterparts. The study confirms the expectation of the researchers. In terms of the final and overall results, it was expected that the passing percentage be dominated by the male students. However, at the end of the study, the overall performance of the female students was much better compared to their male counterparts.     

Embrittlement effects on ferritic/martensitic steels by liquid lead-bismuth eutectic

Studies of synergetic irradiation effects and liquid lead-bismuth eutectic （LBE） corrosion/embrittlement effects on ferritic/martensitic （F/M） steels are of great importance for developing high power spallation neutron targets （〉1 MW） such as the European Spallation Source （ESS） and Accelerator Driven System （ADS） facilities that can be used for transmuting long-lifetime radioactive wastes. Liquid LBE （45Pb-55Bi, in terms of mass fraction） has been selected as the candidate target material in high power spallation neutron targets due to its favourable thermal, physical ＆ chemical properties, and to its high spallation neutron yield. 9Cr F/M steels such as T91 （9CrlMoVNb, in terms of mass fraction） have been chosen as the structural material for the targets due to their good mechanical properties and good resistance to irradiation induced swelling in fission neutron irradiation environments. For developing high power spallation neutron targets, behaviors of F/M steels in spallation neutron target irradiation environments and LBE corrosion/embrittlement effects have been extensively studied. However, many open questions have not been answered. The aim of this paper is to describe the present research situation on this topic. The obtained experimental data about LBE embrittlement effects on F/M steels is summarized and the influence of different parameters involved is analyzed to understand the influence effect on LBE embrittlement effect of F/M s.
