Teacher efficacy in Teaching and Teacher Education

The author reviews twelve of 111 articles focusing on teacher efficacy published in Teaching and Teacher Education since 1985. The twelve articles are placed in three sections that include a) instruments, factor analyses, and cultural influences, b) participants, contexts, and teacher instruction, and c) teacher wellness. These sections offer research and studies from various teacher efficacy investigators that share insights, understandings, and interpretations. The selected TATE articles provide a plausible (expanding) sphere of growing and developing research and studies in teacher efficacy.

Teaching and Teacher Education: Complexity Redux

Using narrative inquiry, these authors explored the diverse types of reasoning that seem to direct stakeholders’ approaches to educational decision-making. They labeled these approaches as simple, complicated, and complex. They begin their account by explaining the attributes of narrative inquiry that guided their work. Through the scholarly space their conversations created, they charted distinctions within the field of education between simple, complicated, and complex reasonings and solutions. They then turned to a selection of anchor texts from existing scholarship that furthered their grasp of these three approaches and their application to educational challenges. As suggested by the title, their ultimate leanings favored complexity. In combination, their ideas strengthened a claim that the choice of a decision making option differentially influences policy and classroom actions.     

Equity Issues in Teaching and Teacher Education

Concerns about creating greater equity in education are often projected outside of teaching. Yet the creation by teachers of more equitable and inclusive educational experiences and opportunities can play an important part in wider struggles for social justice. We argue that equity must become a central dimension of teacher education to challenge the complex ways that insidious inequalities are reproduced in and through educational frameworks and practices.

The Learning and Teaching of Statistical Investigation in Teaching and Teacher Education

Current national standards in mathematicseducation in the United States call forrevision of content and pedagogy, including theaddition of statistics as a new topic in theelementary curriculum. The purpose of thisstudy is to examine the collaborative effortsof a mathematics educator and statistician tohelp prospective elementary teachers developstatistical knowledge and experience throughmerging statistical investigation into existingelementary curricula. Findings from this studyoffer insight into preservice teachers'statistical and pedagogical content knowledgebased on their application of the process ofstatistical investigation themselves and withchildren. Findings also indicate thatintegrating statistics into the elementarycurriculum is a more difficult and complexteaching and learning problem than expected.     

Researching Teaching about Teaching: Self-Study of Teacher Education Practices

The growth in the field of self-study of teacher education practices has largely been based on teacher educators' desire to better understand teaching and learning about teaching. This paper reviews research over the last decade that has been important in shaping understandings of self-study and the issues, concerns and agendas that are emerging as crucial to furthering the work. A major purpose of the paper is to draw particular attention to ways of expressing the learning from self-study so that it might be meaningful and applicable in practice for other teacher educators; especially in relation to developing a pedagogy of teacher education.

实习支教,置换培训：一种双赢的教师教育模式

师范生实习支教,置换教师培训是通过组织高师院校师范生到农村中小学进行教育实习,在一定时期内顶替现职农村学校教师的岗位,被置换出的农村教师参加由高师院校组织的短期脱产培训。这是一种双赢的教学和培训模式,它有效提高了师范生的教学技能,切实解决农村教师队伍素质不高这一制约农村基础教育发展的根本问题。文章从当前教育实习和教师培训中存在的问题入手,讨论＂实习支教,置换培训＂的实践价值并对其有效实施提出了相关的建议。     

教师教育与教师专业化

积极推进教师专业化 ,使教师职业像医生、律师一样专业具有不可替代性 ,应该成为“十五”教师教育的热点与主旋律。这就要求教师的培训机构、教师管理保障制度、教师教育培训制度 ,都实现相应的重大变革。这是师范教育及教师培训机构必须面对的重要问题

案例教学在固外被广泛地运用于教师教育培训中,但我国案例教学在教师教育领域的应用尚处于初级阶段,需要在理论和实践上做进一步的研究.文章在教学实践基础上,结合一些已有的研究成果,对高师院校教师教育课程中案例教学的内涵、作用、实践程序和步骤等进行了探讨.     

教师教学知识的诠释及其在教师教育中的提升

教师的教学知识对教师的课堂教学有着重要的影响,是教学行为的内在升华。本文从教学知识的内涵和教学知识的重要性两个方面对教师的教学知识进行了诠释,认为如何发展教师的教学知识已经成为教学知识研究的趋势。并从基于教学知识发展的教师教育课程教学与课程学习两个方面,论述了如何在教师教育中提升教师的教学知识。     

教学能力与高师课程关系的分析

采用统计分析法，对影响职前教师教学能力的因素进行了分析和讨论。结果表明：职前教师的专业基础课水平、特别是教育理论课水平以及语言表达能力都与他们的教学能力显著相关。因此，高等师范高等师范院校应当对现行的课程以及教材做出一定的调整，适当加大高师课程中教育性质相关的课程比重。     

师范专业实践教学的形态与发展

作为培养基础教育师资的师范专业,实践教学呈现"集中实习"、"顶岗置换实习"、"义务支教实习"、"微格教学实习"、"自主拜师学教实习"、"家教实习"等多元形态。这些实践教学形态产生的动因是高师院校办学定位与特色的引领,是师范生自主发展的诉求,是实践教学的社会环境、资源配置方式的变化。师范专业实践教学正在发生着变革,实践教学的内容从教学技能实习向研究性实习转变,实践教学的组织由单一主体向校地合作转变,实践教学的空间由中小学现场向现场与实验环境相结合的转变,实践教学变革的价值追求从形式状态向注重质量转变。
