Law School Firms and Incubators and the Role of the Academic Law Library

This article examines the recently developed postgraduate, law-school-supported programs intended to provide recent graduates with a continued experiential learning environment in order to bridge the gap between law school and law practice. Both law school firms and practice incubators are discussed. Specifically, this article looks at what, if any, role academic law libraries have within these programs. Lastly, ways in which these libraries might possibly add or improve services to the programs are explored.     

Stuck Behind the Curve: How the Academic Law Library Can Help Students Who Struggle in Law School

This article examines how academic law libraries can assist law schools in meeting the needs of students who struggle in law school. This article will describe the types of programs currently available to help struggling students within law schools, including academic support programs, and offer suggestions to improve the delivery of services to this growing population.

Abstract

Over time changing circumstances in legal education, scholarship and practice influenced law school library collections. Currently, increased demands for non-legal material and new technological enhancements are changing the law school library's environment. As a result, cooperative and collaborative collecting activities are flourishing between the University of Denver's law school library and its general library despite the autonomous administrative structure of the law school library.

简要介绍日本图书馆法从产生到形为比较完备的法律体系的演进过程, 详细论述日本几部图书馆法产生的经过、背景和主要内容，指出它们对当时日本图书馆所产生的影响与推动作用。希望通过研究日本图书馆法的发展历程，对我国的图书馆法制建设提供启示及借鉴。

[目的/意义]探索俄罗斯图书馆法律体系整体脉络，揭示俄罗斯图书馆法律的科学体系，补足国内俄罗斯图书馆法律体系研究的短板，为我国图书馆法律体系建设提供理论支持与实证参考。[方法/过程]梳理俄罗斯及我国图书馆法规代表性成果，评述俄罗斯图书馆法律体系的发展沿革、基本框架与主要内容，探索俄罗斯图书馆事业法、文献呈缴法、图书馆事业文化法支撑、图书馆事业信息法支撑等图书馆法律重点领域。[结果/结论]认为俄罗斯图书馆法律、文化事业、信息产业、特殊群体服务相关法规政令较为密集与集中。俄罗斯建立了以图书馆事业法、文献呈缴法为基础，图书馆专门法、图书馆相关法、图书馆事业相关命令决议、图书馆行业协会规范相互补充与制约的完整的图书馆法律保障体系。俄罗斯图书馆事业的现代化规范发展、图书文物的立法保护、特殊群体权益保障尤其值得深入学习。     

Seven steps to help you become more knowledgeable about U.S. copyright law

As copyright law is so closely ingrained with library services, it is important for librarians to learn about it and how to balance the law with the needs of users. Unfortunately, many Library and Information Science degree programs do not address copyright issues as part of course curriculum. As such, librarians may have to educate themselves about the law. This article will identify seven steps librarians can take to facilitate this process.

文章简要阐述中国图书馆法制史;对中国图书馆立法问题给出了基本评价;论述了当代中国图书馆立法的必要性;提出图书馆法权概念,并论证了其与图书馆核心价值历史的、现实的关系。文章强调,中国当代图书馆法权来自宪法,法权内容却明显缺失,只有通过图书馆立法,才能对图书馆法权予以明确、具体、系统的说明和规定,并客观彰显图书馆核心价值。     

¿Dónde Está la Biblioteca? It's a Damn Shame: Outdated,Inadequate, and Nonexistent Law Libraries in Immigrant Detention Facilities

This article proposes that all immigrant detainees should have meaningful access to a properly equipped law library. The article begins with an overview of the current lack of access to law libraries in immigrant detention facilities. The article then moves on to argue for a statutory right mandating that an immigrant detainee have meaningful access to a properly equipped law library. Finally, the article explores what it truly means to be a “properly equipped law library” and what level of access should be guaranteed to immigrant detainees.     

学科热点概念的增长规律及属性分选研究——以我国图书情报学领域为例

[目的/意义]增长规律是信息和知识的动态特性,透过增长形态可以在一定程度上对知识元素的属性进行揭示,这对于知识组织和知识网络构建研究具有实际意义。[方法/过程]在对文献增长规律进行简要回顾后,以图书情报学近25年来热点概念的历年频次数据为基础构建数据集,进行曲线拟合;同时对拟合结果进行分解分析,进而根据逻辑函数的性质建立一种增长曲线形态测度指标,并进行实证分析。[结果/结论]通过曲线拟合和分解分析验证逻辑增长规律对信息或知识增长描述的有效性,实证分析表明提出的测度指标对学科热点概念的属性有良好的分选性,据此可将图书情报学的热点概念按象限划分为长效基础概念、短效老化概念和发展中热点概念三组。     

公共图书馆治理法治化的内涵、意义及实现路径

公共图书馆治理法治化是促进公共文化服务高质量发展的必然要求,也是改善公共图书馆治理机制的有效方式,对于实现公共图书馆事业的稳定与可持续发展具有重要意义。当前,我国公共图书馆治理法治化进程中还存在着一些现实问题,可以通过增强治理主体的法治观念与意识、完善依法治理的制度与规则体系、基于管办分离原则转变治理模式、扩大公民参与以及健全依法治理的监督与问责机制等路径,全面深入地推进公共图书馆治理的法治化进程。

Multi-Method Interdisciplinary Research In Archival Science: The Case of Recordkeeping, Ethics And Law

This article describes the issues involved in using a multi-method approach to address multi-faceted interdisciplinary research in archival science. The example chosen to illustrate the multi-method approach is taken from recent research, which explored the recordkeeping-ethics-law nexus from the perspective of communities as social systems, regulatory models for recordkeeping and their continuing application to online records. The methods combined traditional archival and social science research techniques, as well as legal and ethics research tools drawn from law and moral philosophy, together with disciplinary discourse analysis, concept mapping and empirical examples to illustrate the concepts. The example demonstrates that complex research questions that cross disciplinary boundaries need to draw from a number of research paradigms and conceptual understandings, which assist in breaking down the barriers with knowledge domains that have to date, had limited contact with archival science.
