以互联网、手机和Ipad为代表的新媒体的迅猛发展,给兴盛了十几年的市民报纸带来巨大的冲击。从《濮阳早报》的读者调查报告来看,近几年受众的阅读习惯已经完全改变,新媒体的介入直接抢占了市民报纸在受众闲暇时间里的位置,《濮阳早报》的生存变得岌岌可危。本文在分析《濮阳早报》现状基础上,指出市民报纸已经到了生死攸关的境地,呼吁从构建城市文化认同的维度,通过内容专业化的方式来挽救市民报纸的生存空间,提供可能的对策和出路。     

时间观念与图书馆时间管理

图书馆管理要遵循努力节约时间、合理安排时间、张弛结合、保证质效等时间观念。图书馆要开展常态化的时间管理诊断,要从明确工作重点、实行弹性工作制、优化业务流程、文献资源合理布局、采用先进技术手段、开展图书馆自助服务、科学设计馆舍结构等方面入手从事时间管理。     

Going to New Sources: Zines at the Vassar College Library

ABSTRACT

This conference presentation report introduces the zine collection at the Vassar College Library and describes the research and planning that went into advocating for and building the collection. The discussion addresses several key workflow factors that need to be considered when building a zine collection, including collection development, acquisitions, and cataloging. The report also shares local problems and solutions implemented at Vassar College.

ABSTRACT

Libraries are quite practiced at outreach activities in the physical world, but now, just as our services and resources have moved online, so must our outreach efforts. This article provides a list of twenty practical things libraries can do to begin to delve into the world of online outreach. Topics covered include listing your library in Wikipedia, listing library events in local community calendars, listing librarians in expert-finding directories, pushing newsletters out via RSS, being present in online game and other environments, and much more. The requirements for online outreach at libraries will always be evolving, but this starter list will provide a place for all libraries to begin their foray into online outreach and marketing.

Going Global: Providing Library Resources and Services to International Sites

ABSTRACT

The Brooklyn campus library of Long Island University (LIU) seized the opportunity to take a proactive approach to providing library resources and services to the university's Global College community. An active link connecting the library, Global College headquarters, and international sites has been created. After carefully evaluating the needs of faculty and students across the globe, the authors recount how the library supports the teaching and learning activities of this unique user group. This article describes the LIU Brooklyn campus library's efforts to promote and implement customized resources and services to users on different continents.     

Library Student Employee Expertise: Strategies for Maximizing Your Student Employee Contributions to the Library

The University of Baltimore Library was recently renovated. Part of the design in the newly renovated space was having one single service point, that we call the Information Desk. This desk serves as the public facing portal for what was previously three public facing service points to services by three separate departments, Academic Success, Access Services and Reference & Instruction.

This article describes in depth how our Information Desk Leadership Team encouraged and used our library student employees’ expertise and knowledge in the formation of policy and procedure manual, training documents, reference tools and resume lines for use at a single service point.
