二语动机自我系统理论下的二语动机策略研究

在第二语言习得进程中,动机是必不可少的组成部分。在二语研究范围的重点由"教"到"学"的转移进程中,将二语学习动机和学习策略两个领域成果融为一体的二语动机策略愈发显出自身重要的价值。教育心理学家D?rnyei所提出的动机自我系统理论是借鉴了社会心理学的新发展成果,他的"二语动机自我系统"为当今的二语动机策略研究奠定了坚实的理论基础。本文以D?rnyei的"二语动机自我系统"为理论基础,结合国内外相关研究成果,探讨如何更好地研究二语动机策略,并恰当地应用到语言教学中,从而提高教学效果。     

在高职院校中开设二外日语课程的探索

高职院校在开设二外日语课程的过程中,存在着一些困难,往往达不到开设课程的初衷,本文结合实际的教学经验,通过分析现状,从三个方面提出改进日语教学效果的建议。     

Students' personal networks in virtual and personal learning environments: a case study in higher education using learning analytics approach

The main objective of this paper is to analyse the effect of the affordances of a virtual learning environment and a personal learning environment (PLE) in the configuration of the students' personal networks in a higher education context. The results are discussed in light of the adaptation of the students to the learning network made up by two undergraduate, inter-university and online courses. Besides, we also examine the influence of this effect in the learning process. The findings reflect the effectiveness of a PLE for facilitating student participation and for assisting students in the creation of larger and more balanced personal networks with richer social capital. However, the findings do not provide evidences about a difference in the learning performance between the two environments. From a methodological point of view, this paper serves as an illustration of the analysis of personal networks on digital data collected from technology-enhanced learning environments.     

Language development in internationally adopted children: a special case of early second language learning

The French language development of children adopted (n=24) from China was compared with that of control children matched for socioeconomic status, sex, and age. The children were assessed at 50 months of age, on average, and 16 months later. The initial assessment revealed that the 2 groups did not differ with respect to socioemotional adjustment or intellectual abilities. However, the adopted children's expressive language skills were significantly lower than those of the nonadopted children at both assessments. The receptive language skills were also significantly weaker for the adopted children at the second assessment. The results are discussed in terms of possible early age-of-acquisition effects that might affect adopted children's ability to acquire a second first language.     

Teaching socio-cultural impacts of technology in advanced technical courses: a case study

ABSTRACT

Engineering education has traditionally focused on the development of technical skills and knowledge. Nowadays, the need for educating engineers in non-technical skills, such as reflective thinking, is being recognised internationally. This paper proposes that socio-cultural impacts of technology be studied together with the technology itself through the integration of social awareness modules into advanced technical courses, providing a venue for students to exercise their reflective thinking skills in the context of technologies that are of interest to them. The paper presents an exploratory study of the essays of senior year engineering students on the socio-cultural impacts of computer vision technologies. It provides insights on the themes that are of interest to the students and on the students’ strengths and weaknesses relating to their reflective thinking abilities. Similar modules would apply well to other advanced courses in the engineering curriculum, to help contextualise technology and enhance the reflective abilities of engineering graduates.     

学前班活动语言教育的存在及规律

学前班活动发展课程应该高度重视语言教育的基础作用和内在规律性,这不仅仅是《学前班语言活动课程》的内容,而应该贯穿到《学前班数学活动课程》《学前班艺术活动课程》《学前班社会活动课程》《学前班科学活动课程》《学前班健康活动课程》中去,成为学前“活动”学习的核心内容之一,儿童多元智能发展的核心问题是语言教育。     

The influence of study of a second language on improvement in spelling

The purpose of this study was to investigate the extent to which study of Latin might influence high school students' improvement in spelling. Skilled and less skilled spellers who chose to study Latin or other second languages in ninth-grade were given a standardized and an experimental spelling test, which allowed for a comparison of their spelling of words of Latin and Greek origin, both in the fall of their ninth-grade and the spring of their eleventh-grade year. While skilled spellers generally made greater progress than less skilled spellers, the students of Latin did not outperform students of other second languages either on the standardized spelling test or specifically on words of Latin origin. Analysis of errors on the experimental test indicated that certain words of Latin origin were misspelled as frequently by eleventh as by ninth graders; these may have affected the lower rate of improvement on words of Latin origin, in contrast to the words of Greek origin. The results suggest particular ways in which the relationship of spelling proficiency and study of language might be investigated further.

本文着重阐述和分析了连云港师范高等专科学校外语专业立体化第二课堂活动体系的实践以及存在的问题,指出高职高专院校应充分认识到第二课堂活动在整个大学教学中所起到的重要作用。科学构建第二课堂活动体系,以学生为主体,从增加软硬件资源的配备和完善管理、考核和激励机制入手,合理安排、统筹规划,最大限度地发挥好第二课堂的效能。

从二语习得角度看大学专业课程双语教学

大学专业课程双语教学模式已经是我国大学专业课程教学的主要内容之一。专业课程双语教学除了能有效提升学生的外语能力外,还能有效提升学生运用英语思维学习掌握专业知识。本文论述了国内双语教学的问题及主要模式,指出从二语习得的角度进行专业课双语教学的可能。     

“Everything goes smoothly”: A case study of an immigrant Chinese language teacher's personal practical knowledge

Much of teacher knowledge research in teacher education has focused on Western views of teacher knowledge. By reporting on a case study of an immigrant Chinese language teacher's personal practical knowledge in teaching secondary school students, this paper presents an Eastern view of teacher knowledge, and illustrates how knowledge and identity are entwined. The study found that an immigrant teacher's awareness of her identity and her cultural heritage had a profound influence on shaping her personal practical knowledge and teaching practice. The paper suggests that more cross-cultural studies be undertaken to further our understanding of teacher knowledge.

网络课程设计要体现网络学习的自主性.本文以<土木工程材料网络课程>为例,讨论如何结合课程特点进行以学为中心的网络课程设计.把课程内容重新整合为新的课程体系,每个知识点由逐层深入的基本知识、观察与讨论及工程实例分析三个栏目组成;加强其交互性,设置智能自检测和参与式试验等栏目;把培养创新能力贯穿其中,实现知识、能力、素质教育的有机统一.     

Across the divide: teaching a transnational MBA in a second language

China is a growing market for the provision of transnational programs. However, there are many challenges associated with providing good—quality learning opportunities while ensuring cost‐effectiveness, particularly in bilingual programs. This paper describes the experience of business academics teaching a postgraduate MBA program in Mandarin to students located in China. The academics found that their attempts to provide an effective teaching/learning environment while teaching through translators led to many additional challenges, including increased rigidity of teaching processes and difficulties in monitoring learning outcomes. The paper identifies some ways in which staff teaching transnationally might be supported, while also suggesting that teaching across a language divide needs to be carefully considered before universities venture into this complex educational setting.     

Speech perception in infancy predicts language development in the second year of life: a longitudinal study

Infants' early phonetic perception is hypothesized to play an important role in language development. Previous studies have not assessed this potential link in the first 2 years of life. In this study, speech discrimination was measured in 6-month-old infants using a conditioned head-turn task. At 13, 16, and 24 months of age, language development was assessed in these same children using the MacArthur Communicative Development Inventory. Results demonstrated significant correlations between speech perception at 6 months of age and later language (word understanding, word production, phrase understanding). The finding that speech perception performance at 6 months predicts language at 2 years supports the idea that phonetic perception may play an important role in language acquisition.

Teachers’ strategies of teaching primary school mathematics in a second language: A case of Botswana

This paper reports the results of a study of primary school mathematics teaching in northern Botswana in order to highlight the strategies teachers use in bi/multilingual classrooms. Questionnaire and interview data collection procedures were used. The findings, which are based on responses of randomly selected primary school teachers, confirmed that monolingual classes were fewer than bilingual and multilingual classes in those parts of Botswana. Furthermore, syllabus analysis confirmed the abstract nature of mathematical concepts. Teachers report to have devised strategies to overcome the difficulties imposed by this classroom situation.
